Its sad to think that this song is 20 years old and it still translates to the events of present day America. This is way Pro-Pain is the best band ever. The music is true, realistic and relates to the common man.
We played with these guys inSo.cal In 95. Gary was the nicest guy ever. I got invited into their tour bus and got to hang out with them for awhile. ( Only about 10 minutes) but it's a cool memory I will never forget.
@robtheslayer ... I had the distinct pleasure of seeing these guys open for Sepultura and Pantera in '94 in Cleveland... it forever changed me... Sepultura played an all drum/acoustic version of "Kiowas" and I think I died a little and experienced what heaven must feel like... then Pantera took the stage... pure bliss... goddamn I miss the 90's... R.I.P. Dimebag
I know what you mean. I saw Pantera opening for Souls at Zero (formerly Wrathchild America) and Dimebag gave Phil his guitar. They did a cover of Metallica's Whiplash with Dime singing and Phil playing guitar. I don't think I'll ever forget that moment.
35 people said "naw" to the single song that made me a metal head? takes all kinds I suppose. my favorite album of all time. and I'm a PanterA die-hard
Was listening to this in high school on dubbed memorex cassette tape.put scotch tape on store bought one of buddies and make my own to workout to and run to in yellow sony walkman wth the hand strap.lol.good ol days.auto reverse was a luxury 😆.headphones fallin out of ears.pro-pain..Pantera..Megadeth..Crypt-kicker..Metallica..Anthrax..Slayer....Wresting practice had to stop to change tape lol !!!
Why I love them is that most of their stuff sounds so original you know no other band could come up with something similar, they are just so unique. On the other hand, there are plenty of other solid bands I like, but their music is way more rooted in the specific genres and I similaries between them. PP just has its unique special style no one else could assume.
Californication, the thing is that none of the bands you mention had much of an impact on Gary Meskils songwriting. ;) But the main riff sounds like a mix of War Machine by Kiss and Sex Type Thing by Stone Temple Pilots... ha ha ha
You're so right ! Early Nineties: great music, many beloved people of my family still alive, nice girls (not the overstyled dumb chicks of our days), good drinks (we didn't need Red Bull or other crap in our alcohol), no fucking smartphones...shit, BETTER DAYS ! Getting sentimental over here...
you just became a bitter old fart thats it -90s was the time of techno ,so lots of cheap crappy music ,overstyled bitches and of course there was wodka red bull back then
Gary got attacked in Brussels or something this year on tour.. All of your support is probably greatly appreciated.. He's a bull and back on tour after almost dying.. Go Get It Gary!
@aceinco I absolutely remember this tour, best show ever to this date for me. The Kiowas part of Sepultura's set was undoubtedly one of those "moments" that changed me musically forever. The funny part was that the venue here in Detroit had the nerve to fill the main floor with chairs, zip-tied together, morons. During Biohazard - started seeing chairs fly, During Sepultura - mini pits with the chairs gone, and when Pantera came on there was just large piles of chairs on the floor...

I saw these guys at HammerJacks in Baltimore with Biohazard and Body Count ~20 years ago!!! To this day me and my friends say "did he just say "THE STENCH OF PISS"" Pro-Pain is badass to this day!!!
Jesus this came out almost 12 years ago?! My night shift supervisor had this blasting in the kitchen the other night. I missed out! Glad he was blasting these guys. They have a bit of a Static-X sound to them, and I fuckin love it! \m/
Going to see them for the third time live tomorrow. I always say to young metalheads:"Kids, if you survive Pro - Pain live, you are a man after that". \m/ \m/ \m/

I never really understood FSU straight edge. Friends Stand United. We were warned about the anti drug movement in NYC it's why a lot of music industry people quit working certain clubs and venues.
@TRex0086 ... you're right... it was Biohazard... too many wackey tobaccey cigs that night... I always get those two bands mixed up, don't know why, I'm just an idiot, I guess... thanks for straightening that out for me... rock on!!!

Lyrics:
Young, dumb and helpless - in the states
You say you ain't got no money - i can relate
I lost my job and my house and my - piece of mind
We're in the deepest depression of - modern time
A thousand points of light shinin' - in my face
Eyes are blinded by a can of replublican mace
Shinin' seas of starving people are the - unemployed
Stars and stripes are rubber checks - null and void
We are the red, white and blue that you bleed
We have the right to survive and succeed
Worthless and weak is "be all you can be"
Democracy leaves a foul taste of freedom in me
Budget cuts and tax hikes - crush the land
Of plenty, see the weak die by gods hand
If you're proud of your country then you're probably rich
Buf if you're fed up you better piss, moan and bitch
Yankee doodle dickweed went to town
Apple pie and chevrolet shot him down
A patriotic, fatheaded, sucker, freak
Is proud to serve the country that had served him weak...
Except now it’s the left that’s fucking everybody. Rather be a patriot, then a communist.
2021 ANTHEM
Excellent, haven’t heard that in over 20 years… still kickass
The theme from Disney's "Lab Rats" reminds me of this song. Loved this band
