      You can absolutely do the type of comedy In Living Color did back then except it would have to be a different version.
      No one should want to do ANYTHING they did 25 or 30 years ago the same exact way.
      Whether you like it or not CHANGE occurs every year on earth.
      You may not like it or prefer the way it happened back then but it's going to change with or without your approval/support.
      That said, if they were to do a Men On Film sketch today it would not feature two heterosexual comedic performers mocking feminine gay men. It would also include LGBT creatives offering their comedic take on how they are portrayed.
      Why folks want us to still live in a 1990s political climate that no exists is baffling to me.

      Damon is one of those who don’t feel the need to be on for folks. He’s been clear on that since day one & spoken about why over the years. Still remember him winning I think it was an naacp image award or something to that effect, he only said “Thanks...” then left the stage. Folks boo’ed him so, he walked back on, walked back to the microphone and said “Thanks...” and left again.

      Yeeeeah…Damon…..he different. I think he’s more out for himself. He didn’t show up to the tv land awards. Didn’t do the Oprah OWN Wayans family special. He directed Marlon in a drama about stand up comedians….just to keep it locked up for no one else to see. Very talented but…odd

      😆 I remember that award too!!! He won and said, “Thank you.” It was cold as he walked away, so they turned around and said, “Thank you!” even colder. He was always the funniest Wayans to me, but he was also the least transparent. When he’s performing, he’s on and awesome! When he’s not on, leave him alone or you might get cussed out. That’s just my perception of him. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    What stands out to me is the censorship argument. Saturday Night Live has been on air for years and has hardly been given any trouble concerning content. In living color was EPIC...but #truth hurts (in any imagery) and it hits even harder when its coming out of the mouth of a black man.

    • @kendallrivers1119
      @kendallrivers1119 3 года назад +7

      That's because Saturday Night Live hasn't been really edgy since the nineties and is now hella tame compared to In Living Color that literally was a show that made fun of the handicapped, gays, white people, black people, everybody and everything lol.

      @@kendallrivers1119 facts. Also, In Living Color was aired on prime time hours on Sundays and Thursdays while SNL was on an 11:30 at night. But of course, it's a lot easier to blame it on race.

    Oh, wow! Thanks so much for this blast from the past! In Living Color was one of my favorite shows. It truly was history in the making, unknown to most of us watching at the time. That show catapulted many of the cast's careers. Even J Lo was a Fly Girl.
    Donahue, in spite of his dry demeanor most times, had some fantastic guests and great topic discussions. His talk show was one I rarely missed when I wasn't in school or working.
    @reelblack, I've been subbed to your channel for some time, but for some reason, the notification bell wasn't checked...not that it matters much nowadays. You've compiled so much wonderful history! I'll be a longtime viewer. Thank you!

      They couldn't air In Living Color today for the same reason why those animated shows are now watered down and tame compared to how they used to be lol. Man if they did Men on Film or Handi-Man today they'd be canned in a heartbeat. Keenan in fact has turned down a reboot i heard because he didn't want to make it tame or pc.

    Living color was one of the best shows on TV. No one got away with anything and they were funny as h..l. It is difficult to survive as a comedian today as David said if comedy isn't offending someone your not doing your job. We have lost our ability to laugh at ourselves what a sad world.
