  • Bayan Ko is a signature song that tells the history of the Filipino
struggle for freedom from the clutches of Spanish dominations and
servitude to the present emancipation of the working class from the
ravages of corruption of government officials. Bayan Ko is the story of
every Filipino who yearns for real freedom- freedom from want, freedom
from hunger, freedom from oppression and from all remnants of
repression in the Philippines. The songs arranged for the Leyte Dance
Theatre by noted composer-arranger Mr Melvin Corpin, infuses the
passion of this seemingly never-ending struggle translated into
contemporary dance movements that challenge the artistry and lyrical
capabilities of the LDT dancers. This piece is choreographed by Jerry
Mores and artistically directed by Jess de Paz.

I DO WISH THEATER ARTS LIKE THIS SHOULD HAVE A BIGGER BUDGET OR SUPPORT FROM OUR GOVERNMENT FOR CULTURAL DANCERS/ARTISTS TO FLOURISH & GROW, EVEN AS PART OF TODAY'S MILLENIALS.

I am both happy... and sad! Happy-- since we are indeed a nation of many talented individuals and it is plentiful! SAD -- since government (LGU's or even in national) do not give importance to preserving this unique culture of ours! Officials would loved to travel abroad and enjoy the sights and sounds and culture of other countries, yet they give LEAST priority to our very own Filipino artists and all the necessary support!

Do you mean Original Philipino Music by opm? If not, what is it? I belong to the old generation who does not know much about the new abbreviations. The show is purely Filipino from music to performers.
