One thing I remember about these Gold Collection DVDs was some of them had a deal where if you already owned the VHS tape you could send in the proof of purchase from the both get like $5 back.
I think the slipcovers may have come from re-releases which would explain the non-shiny gold border as well as the Disney Movie Rewards logo, which wasn't around in 2000
I used to have toy story from this collection. I got rid of it when I got 1 and 2 in the platinum editions. The cover was tan with the picture of woody buzz and the aliens hanging onto them.
I find it interesting that the Gold Collection combines Disney, Pixar, and live-action films-it's pretty cool! These are all awesome editions Tony Nice Vid! :)
They have a gold collection I seen them they do have them on dvd and vhs I used to have it until my vhs blew up now I got a bluray dvd player and it works way better the gold collection is awesome as well
Yes, thanks for the clarification. Disney does a lot of marketing with different titles. I have some of these movies 3 times on DVD with a different marketing title placed on each.
8:11-8:21 I have the 25th Anniversary of The Black Cauldron on DVD, but I want to have both the 1998 VHS and the Gold Collection on both VHS and DVD. It's one of my favorite Disney movies, along with TALES from EARTHSEA.
ToyKlectrr Fact: the film only did 21.3 million USD in the box office, because no one wanted to watch fantasy movies in the 80's. Still, it's a really good film. Tell me what you think of it when you're done watching it. Also, I'm planning on filming my own parody of this film!
The art work on these are great. I am hoping that they release Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros in a dual pack on blu ray. I have the DVD where they released them together.
At CD Heaven, I found a Box set with Toy Story (Gold Collection), A Bug's Life (Gold Collection), and Toy Story 2. All 3 were in Widescreen, but only A Bug's Life and Toy Story 2 were in Full Screen.
WOW!!! You have some RARE Disney DVD's there Tony, After doing some research I found out that Disney didn't want to into the "NEW" DVD format at the time until they saw other studios such as Universal was making SERIOUS money with their monster movies. I remember seeing Toy Story Gold Edition in Late 1999 at a local Disney Store but was quickly recalled due to a supposed "Manufacturing Error" and was never reissued or any explanation given for the problem with the disc.
I'm 90% sure Toy Story wasn't released as Gold Collection. The Limited Issues were the first Disney DVDs released, and there were 9 titles. All of which are very expensive these days. I only have 3 Limited Issues, and 15 of the Gold Collection. I remember reading that Disney felt sales were not as good as they hoped with "Limited Issue", so they tagged them as Gold Collection. I realize the VHS were called Gold Collection too - but I guess that was Disney's marketing plan to boost sales.
I like to keep them sealed until I am ready to watch them. I also keep them sealed in case I decide to sell them. Most of these I have already seen or I have them on a different DVD or Blu-ray already.
As respectful as I can be, I had a lot of nightmares as a kid from The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad. I love the Mr. Toad part but Ichabod always scared me and similar to Monster House, I didn’t like my nightmares. 😨😱
I have an odd Disney DVD release of Oliver and Company with a gold foil banner, but the banner reads "Special Edition". It's the only one of that kind that I own. My titles are all authentic, so I'm wondering if that was Disney tinkering with a marketing scheme again? Have you seen any like this?
I meant to add DVD in my last comment, If you can find a Pre-Recalled edition of Toy Story it will set you back around a $1000 bucks. Conveinently Disney released TS again on DVD around 2001 still without any explanation with the same artwork and UPC code, Looks like they were trying to stockpile the copies and the FLOOD the market. Look at what they did with THBOND II with advertisements on the disc from 2002. Guess they needed the space in the warehouses overseas.
Very nice collection you have brother. Can you help find this one Hanna Barbera cartoon. CB Bears. cant find it anywhere. Can you help me with it. Jerry
Have you end up opening Mulan and Pinocchio? I am looking for a copy with the disc and the insert with the Gold Collection logo. I was only able to get Cover and Disc with logo, insert always comes with Limited Issue logo. The same goes with Mulan.
Mine are still sealed up. I wish all of mine were still sealed, but those that were sealed are remaining sealed. I like having all of the inserts also.
I have several older Disney DVD's still sealed because I already have a Bluray opened and can watch the movie that way. I only pointed out that some are sealed to show that I have not opened them up after all of the years that I have owned them.
Tony, it seems like many of your dvd/bluray in your collection are still sealed. Do you plan on selling them in the future? Or do you just buy and add them to your collection and never watch them?
Great collection... I know Toy story is listed as Having a gold DVD release, but I have never seen a copy...Do you collect other ones like diamond, platinum and such?
Very nice, Tony. I'm curious about the slips too. I purchased my Gold Collection DVDs back when they were initially released. None of mine came with a slip, and I have never seen any with slips until I saw your vids. I assumed that they went into the Disney vault... But maybe they have since been re-released with slips? If you find out, let us know. I think your slips are excellent. I'd even double dip just to get a slip. As always, great vid!
i was watching one of my 2004 DVDs of Bear in the Big Blue House and i went to the sneak peeks and saw a trailer for mickey's Twice upon a Christmas. it bugs me that it is CGI. it should have been Hand drawn like Once Upon a Christmas. I did Think it was Suitable for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to be CGI. Did it Bug you?
Here's what my collection consists of: VHS: The Aristocats The Fox & The Hound Alice In Wonderland Mary Poppins Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas The Sword In The Stone Toy Story DVD: The Rescuers Down Under Bedknobs & Broomsticks Dumbo As you can see, I unfortunately have more of the format I'm trying to GET RID of!
IdeaBox9000 exact same with me. I do have more VHS than DVD, but I'm trying to stop getting vhs. I have VHS: Toy Story The Aristocats The Fox and the Hound Pocahontas Robin Hood A Bug's Life Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas Dumbo (60th Anniversary Edition; not Gold Collection) Peter Pan (Special Edition; not Gold Collection) DVD Toy Story (part of the Toy Story 2-Pack) A Goofy Movie Hercules The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
Yes, I do open them when I am ready to watch them, but until then I like to keep them sealed and new.
I love these dvd case. It reminds of vhs clamshells.
I agree. I still love the whole clamshell cases.
I had never seen them up until a month ago when I found the slips on eBay. I had never seen them before in stores.
Yes, I think they did some of those after the Gold Collection releases.
One thing I remember about these Gold Collection DVDs was some of them had a deal where if you already owned the VHS tape you could send in the proof of purchase from the both get like $5 back.
127: Cool. Bringing back my childhood. I missed those years.
Those were some good times.
That's Walt Disney Gold Classic Collection to you!
Yes, I have the DVD of the two of them together also. I would love to have the unedited versions of them both on blu-ray!
the limited issue dvds came out prior to the gold collection.
Man as always a good video, bet they look sharp on the shelf ...and its good to know they have all the special features
I think the slipcovers may have come from re-releases which would explain the non-shiny gold border as well as the Disney Movie Rewards logo, which wasn't around in 2000
Yes, I love the special features on the Disney DVDs and Blu-rays.
I used to have toy story from this collection. I got rid of it when I got 1 and 2 in the platinum editions. The cover was tan with the picture of woody buzz and the aliens hanging onto them.
Great collection Tony 👌
Thanks for watching!
I got a lot of Disney movies on Christmas last year.
They do make good gifts. When my kids were younger, they would get a new Disney VHS tape for one of their gifts.
The Gold Classic Collection DVDs Were Actually Released With The VHSs From February 2000-March 2001
I find it interesting that the Gold Collection combines Disney, Pixar, and live-action films-it's pretty cool! These are all awesome editions Tony Nice Vid! :)
Love the Collection!
That was a cool deal. Wish they did more of those kind of deals when purchasing blu-rays from dvds.
They have a gold collection I seen them they do have them on dvd and vhs I used to have it until my vhs blew up now I got a bluray dvd player and it works way better the gold collection is awesome as well
I appreciate you watching!
Now you have to get them on bluray
I used to own the Gold Classic Collection VHS of The Rescuers Down Under.
I still have a lot of the Disney VHS tapes also.
@@BasementBlus did you talk about them in a video?
Yes, thanks for the clarification. Disney does a lot of marketing with different titles. I have some of these movies 3 times on DVD with a different marketing title placed on each.
I think I'd be cool to see an updated version of this video to see if you got any of the one's you wanted, sealed.
I did an update a few weeks back.
Awesome collection Tony.
Amazing, It’s a great collection. 😊👍🏻
Thank you!
can you make a video of your disney platinum and diamond edition blu rays?
I like to buy them off of eBay factory sealed so that I know they are not fakes. I do open them when I am ready to watch the movie.
One of my favorites too!
ALL of them. I have all of the Platinum editions that have been released and Diamond editions.
8:11-8:21 I have the 25th Anniversary of The Black Cauldron on DVD, but I want to have both the 1998 VHS and the Gold Collection on both VHS and DVD. It's one of my favorite Disney movies, along with TALES from EARTHSEA.
I have never actually watched The Black Cauldron. I need to check it out.
ToyKlectrr Fact: the film only did 21.3 million USD in the box office, because no one wanted to watch fantasy movies in the 80's. Still, it's a really good film.
Tell me what you think of it when you're done watching it. Also, I'm planning on filming my own parody of this film!
The "Toy Story" Gold Collection DVD was included in the "Toy Story 2-Pack".
Though later in 2001 it was released on its own, except it was a standard THX DVD.
The art work on these are great. I am hoping that they release Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros in a dual pack on blu ray. I have the DVD where they released them together.
would love to see a Disney collection over view sometime.
Amazing Collection Tony!
I Love Movie Melody Time
I love it also.
I think the rescuers down under and Hercules is bootleg because Disney never did embossed on golden collection
The slips are definitely fakes, but the DVD sets are genuine.
At CD Heaven, I found a Box set with Toy Story (Gold Collection), A Bug's Life (Gold Collection), and Toy Story 2. All 3 were in Widescreen, but only A Bug's Life and Toy Story 2 were in Full Screen.
Andy Fennell yes. It said it on the disc, but not the cover.
Glad to see I can comment on your vids again. For awhile it would say "error" when I commented, and it would not allow me to post.
WOW!!! You have some RARE Disney DVD's there Tony, After doing some research I found out that Disney didn't want to into the "NEW" DVD format at the time until they saw other studios such as Universal was making SERIOUS money with their monster movies. Hey ToyKlectrr, have you seen a Robin Hood Gold Classic Collection DVD anywhere that's factory sealed. If you have, can you let me know?
eBay is the only place I have seen it.
Gotcha
They should make a blu-ray gold collection remastered kind of thing
I have:
The Three Caballeros
The Sword in the Stone
Hercules
Pocahontas
Pocahontas II
all dvd
That is a great selection.
Glad I could help out, Love the classic artwork on the covers!!! BTW Latest review is up

Awesome collection ; - ) !!
I like to keep them sealed until I am ready to watch them. I also keep them sealed in case I decide to sell them. Most of these I have already seen or I have them on a different DVD or Blu-ray already.
But, what about Pixar movies and Fox animated movies?
There are videos for Pixar that I recorded. Just search for them while you're on my channel.
As respectful as I can be, I had a lot of nightmares as a kid from The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad. I love the Mr. Toad part but Ichabod always scared me and similar to Monster House, I didn’t like my nightmares. 😨😱
Some of those older Disney films could be very scary to watch as a child.
I watch Monster House as kid and it gave me nightmares but i overcome my nightmare when am an Adult
I have an odd Disney DVD release of Oliver and Company with a gold foil banner, but the banner reads "Special Edition". It's the only one of that kind that I own. My titles are all authentic, so I'm wondering if that was Disney tinkering with a marketing scheme again? Have you seen any like this?
tony the finest hours was awesome can you show that dvd to you remained it to years ago do you still have it?
I still have it.
Wow. That's been a while ago. Good video.
I know, right?

Thanks Brian!
Very nice collection you have brother. Can you help find this one Hanna Barbera cartoon. CB Bears. cant find it anywhere. Can you help me with it. Jerry
I wish we would get more of these releases for the other HB shows. I would get them all!
What's the difference between the gold edition gold foil and the gold edition flat
I belive the gold foil was the first release and the flat was the re-release.
Why Do You Like Having Disney DVDs Factory Sealed?
I have several older Disney DVD's still sealed because I already have a Bluray opened and can watch the movie that way. I only pointed out that some are sealed to show that I have not opened them up after all of the years that I have owned them.
Tony, it seems like many of your dvd/bluray in your collection are still sealed. Do you plan on selling them in the future? Or do you just buy and add them to your collection and never watch them?
Did I miss The Aristocats Gold Collection?
Great collection... I know Toy story is listed as Having a gold DVD release, but I have never seen a copy...Do you collect other ones like diamond, platinum and such?

can you make a video of your pixar collection?
The Limited Issue DVDs Came Before The Gold Classic Collection VHS Tapes And DVDs
How do you get new releases from Disney movie rewards all I can get is older blurays?
Every movie comes on 4:3 aspect ratio? Because Im 100% sure that A Goofy Movie does, but I dont know the rest of the movies
The majority of these are Full Screen 1.33:1 aspect ratio.
I already have a video of my Platinum Edition. Check December 28, 2012 for the video.
Thanks!
No problem!
It's Gold Classic Collection
i was watching one of my 2004 DVDs of Bear in the Big Blue House and i went to the sneak peeks and saw a trailer for mickey's Twice upon a Christmas. it bugs me that it is CGI. it should have been Hand drawn like Once Upon a Christmas. I did Think it was Suitable for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to be CGI. Did it Bug you?
I Love Movie Fun And Fancy Free
It is a fun movie.
It is at the 1:50 mark.
Thank you!
Thanks!
I did not get any of these from Disney Movie Rewards. These were purchased from Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy and eBay.
Thanks.
Thanks for the comment.
There was a RARE Gold Collection VHS & DVD of Oliver & Company.
and i'm not talking about the 2002 special edition vhs and dvd
then can you just make a video of your diamond editions?
a bug's life actually came out on august 1st 2000.
Yes, it bugs me too. I like hand drawn better.
I Love Your Video From Gil
Thank you!
That is weird. I wonder why that was? Glad you can comment on my videos. I appreciate it.
Thanks for the information.
Great information!
Thanks for the correction.
My guess is that the slip cover for "The Rescuers Down Under" was also exclusive to Disney Movie Club.
That would be nice.
Here's what my collection consists of:
VHS:
The Aristocats
The Fox & The Hound
Alice In Wonderland
Mary Poppins
Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas
The Sword In The Stone
Toy Story
DVD:

Bedknobs & Broomsticks
Dumbo
As you can see, I unfortunately have more of the format I'm trying to GET RID of!
Dumbo wasn't a gold classic colection release. Its a 60th anniversary dvd.

Any of these available for purchase?
"Make Mine Music" and "A Goofy Movie" are the only remaining Gold Classic Collection titles that are still in print.
Jacob Carpenter Melody Time and Fun and fancy free are as well.
Actually "Fun and Fancy Free" was put in a 2 movie collection blu-ray bundle with "The Adventures of Iccabod and Mr Toad".
The only DVD that is not part of Gold Collection is Snow White.
