I agree. My sister talked by Dad into adopting a pair when we were children, and named them Lady and Lawny. She took care of them for all of a week, then they suddenly became my responsibility. I loved those dogs. Later in life, in her old age, Lady would let my nephews climb her back, in order to steal cookies off the counter, which they would then share. Smart dogs, and totally food motivated.
My family got a Keeshond for my 9th birthday. He was a wonderful little happy maniac that gave us a lot of happy memories we still remember. Like when he tried to go to school with me and ran on the school bus. Or when we went on vacation and my parents rented a beach house right on the beach and he broke a screen to bust out and was running down the beach looking for us. I grew up with him as he lived to be 16. Whenever I cried he come over and sit with me and let me cry in his fur. Meanwhile, I have a wonderful golden doodle that when I cry just looks at me like "My human is unstable and I don't like it." Love her though it's just amazing how different dogs are. They have their own unique personalities just like people. He would even protect me from my other brother when he would try to hit me. Just a great dog. They need lots of activity and good obedience training but such loyal, happy family dogs.
Aww...you lucky girl! What darlings! 🥰❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰. My first doggie was a purebred Keeshond out of breeder in Missouri. He was and still is the love of my life. Along with the other dogs and cats I’ve had.
You have absolutely ADORABLE Kees Cheryl. I have read all the comments, some about shedding, some about barking, etc. You little girls seems incredibly well mannered, just HUNGRY!!! We had a a beautiful little girl we named Kyra. She was the center of our world for 14 of her 16 years of life. Did she shed? Yep. Fortunately I have oak floors and a brilliant device called a Swiffer. I also had doggie hair brushes laying everywhere and when Kyra was still for 5 minutes, I'd pick up a brush!! Having her in our life with her intelligence, gaiety, fun loving spirit, and love was well worth every 'Kyra hair' that I had to Swiffer up. She had the best of everything we could give her; and when we lost her 3 years ago to the liver cancer she fought so courageously for 18 months, that little 35 pound bundle of energy and fluff left a hole the size of the Grand Canyon. Kyra was a rescue, having been found by the manager of our animal shelter on a dark country road, alone and frightened after being dumped by some heartless subhuman. We spent the next 14 years making sure she was never frightened, hungry or alone again. We took her everywhere with us, even on 3 week business trips that my husband would occasionally have to take. We NEVER had a moment of trouble with her. She was allowed to go in some of the finest antique malls in the US. So these dogs are, in fact, extremely well behaved IF taught correctly. Friendly, loving, the total package of perfection as far as I'm concerned. I hope one day the hubby can see his way to rescue another - or 2 or 3!!!! Keep sharing your videos of Kiki and Scarlett. They bring a huge smile to my face every time I watch these little girls in action.
I wanted to tell you I got so teary reading what you've written about your baby. I absolutely *love, love, love* people with such warm, loving, caring hearts that treat their fur babies like the children to the family that they are. I'm sorry for your loss. I wish every pet could have a loving home like that. I have a little girl fighting health problems now, but for now, she's doing well. (She's a 15 (!!) year old, still active, lil Shit-Tzu - a tiny one - 7 1/2 lbs. Everyone thinks she's a miniature, but she was just the runt of the litter - the BEST one! :) She's on my channel.) Thank you for sharing your story! The reason I came here was because I'd just read a story about a Keeshond mix mauling & killing their 91 year old owner, so I came to Google & RUclips to read up on what this dog is like, as I'd never heard of them. Obviously it was the "mix" part (they didn't specify what other breed it was mixed with), or something very unusual went horribly wrong. These dogs are nothing but praised for their loving manner, and being cuddle monsters. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. :)
lol@ the one on the right, hes determined to get to his breakfast. They are lovely dogs,we lived next door to one for 7yrs,and we looked after him for a whole month when owners had to go to Canada.I have to say they need brushing every day,but it lovely fur to brush. They do bark a bit i will say that gives people the idea theres a vicious watchdog behind the door not a licking machine called a Keeshond. RIP Dusty
I have a Keeshond he's a puppy his name is Loki. I recommend keeshonds to anybody who loves really sweet, cute dogs! :) but WARNING: they are SUPER stubborn
We are thinking of getting a kees, but i have a question. Is it very hard to teach them not to bark alot? some say their kees just do a few "warning barks" sometimes and others say they bark all the time. How can you teach them to not be so noisy? Thanks!
+Jenny Karlsson Honestly, they are very easy to train. However it needs to be reward training. They respond very well to positive reinforcement as appose to negative or punishment training. So during the training stages make sure you have treats handy so when they listen and do what they suppose to they are rewarded as apposed to not listening and being punished . They love food and attention from their owners so be sure to reinforce that and any positive behavior that you want. They are very intelligent dogs so you also need to be sure that you are not by accident giving them the wrong training. I love having a Keeshond as a pet and they always brighten up your day. Just be sure you can give them lots of attention and love or else they will be a terror.
+Jenny Karlsson I just got my first kees two months ago and Cloudchief is right on the money. They often seem very focused on pleasing you so give them structure and make it clear what you want them to do. I live in a tiny apartment with my pup so when he gets barking I put a gentle muzzle on him. He never wears it for more than a few seconds - he gets the point and quiets down instantly. And really, even if they do bark a lot - it's worth it. These dogs are awesome.

I love the resemblance that they have to raccoon dogs.
Love these fur balls...all the dogs in the Spitz group are awesome: Pomeranians...Huskies...American Eskimo Dogs...and of course...these fellows...

My lady friend takes care of her exe's Keesh. Those things are insane.
Can't keeshonds pronounce "r's"? 😊 seems bizarre to talk baby talk to animals that are twice as smart as we are.....
lovely dogs, the baby talk is annoying though
