I’m curious how you plan trips to this store in to your meal plan and budget. Do you go prior to meal planning and base meals off what you find? Only get items on your menu? Does this store account for one of your weekly budgets, or is it extra? I always overspend when I try to go to specialty stores like this - so I’m curious how others make it work.
It depends on the week. I may go after major grocery shopping just to see what I can find and work in, but a lot of times I'll start there, see what I can find, and work my meals around that and grocery shop at conventional places for the rest.
I need your energy, LOVE it. :) I have to go get my groceries this morning so was happy to give this a watch and make sure I stay on track with my budget and my options.
We found a store near us on the list you shared. Ours was discussing. Most things were expired, the store was filthy, and the roof leaked. I was so bummed because you have some great things!
I love seeing what you're able to find, every trip to my local discount grocery store Grocery Outlet I'm amazed at the healthy food and snacks I'm able to get!!! It always makes me feel blessed to have such a store near me. It's hard to contain myself after, I feel like making a channel just to share the EXCITEMENT!! Lol even though you don't know what you'll find your next trip, you know it will be something healthy and that's all that matters!❣️
This is so awesome I’m in Houston we don’t have any stores like this. I did follow that link and the stores listed for Houston are closed except for one and it looks like a literal death trap lol
Live well, Jess I don’t blame you haha! We just went to our local grocery outlet which is like a discount store too. We found 18 count of cage free eggs for just three dollars!
I hardly ever buy organic because it's so expensive but I do have a bent and dent store half hour from me that is on that list-they don't sell cold items only pantry foods and I do find tons of gluten free items, a lot organic for really cheap. You got some great deals for cold stuff/produce. 😁 what state are you in? I'm in Wisconsin. Great haul!
I would love a video on your tips about buying food from these type of places.. I recently went to a store like this in my area and was amazed at the prices. But a little weary of buying packaged items past exp dates
Are the items marked down because theyre about to expire? The grocery outlet market near me is a similar discount market & I found most items have nearing expiration dates :/
I’m curious if you ever have trouble with things expiring soon after you purchase? I’ve looked and there is a store maybe 30 minutes from me on that website but I’ve heard you have to be careful a lot of items have already passed their sell by date.
In my experience, sell by dates are all over the board. Some are passed, some are approaching, and some still have quite a bit of shelf life. I just try to be thoughtful about what I'm purchasing and when it will be consumed. Over the summer, I found Annie's organic mac n cheese for 50 cents a box. They don't expire until late next year, but the boxes were dented, so they couldn't sell them in a conventional store. Other times I do see things WAY passed their date, and I choose not to purchase them. My store has a license to know which items are still considered safe to eat after sell by dates, but I'm still weirded out by some things.
Nancy Ragab If you click where It says “find a grocery store near you” you will find a list state by state, so you can look for stores in your area. There are many different names.
I had no idea this kind of a grocery store even existed! Thanks for your post!!
Wish there was a store near us. It'd help so much. Glad you have one. What a blessing!
Is it the Grocery Clearance Center in Dallas, because that's my new favorite place to shop!

What a bummer! My place is definitely no Whole Foods, but it is sanitary and has plenty of viable options.
