    Short and to the point, thanks for the video. Support blockers being a right click is not something I would have expected coming from other slicers. For a while I just didn't think they existed in Orca. Huge thank you!

    Wow just found this after your other measurement video this was just as useful orca slicer is the only slicer I’ve ever used and no one else has covered how to do this

    I just switched from Cura to Orca and your videos have been a life saver trying to learn the new program. Thank you for all your straight forward explanations and walkthroughs!

    bruh. that is so simple. I was looking everywhere for a way to do this besides manually painting all my supports and omitting the parts I dont need. now that I know about it, I looked closer it DOES actually tell you this in orca if you mouse over the little keyboard in the support painting tab 🤦‍♂. Thanks!

    Had issues with tiny holes (therefore overhang) on the BambuLab AMS Riser print making the supports inside the little boreholes impossible to remove. You're (probably) a lifesaver for me here.
    Started printing without the supports there, following your guide, now.
    Will update once the print is done!

    great video. I have 6 tall thin parts to print. I want to print them close together and share the supports. Is this possible? In essence they would come off the bed as one solid and just need seperating. I figure joining them together with the support would make them for secure and stop them falling over

      @fischer3d  5 месяцев назад

      sounds feasible. You can select one then hold the control key and click the others to select them all. Then right-click and select "Assemble". That will make them a selectable group and you should be able to add supports collectively.

    Blockers will work even if you are using auto supports. So, if there are a lot of supports added automatically and you just don't one in one place, you don't have to go and paint all of the other supports. In fact, if you are doing manual, I don't think you need to use blockers since it'll only add them where you paint them.

    is there a way to go up layer by layer AND paint supports at the same time?

    I noticed an auto generated support doing nothing and was wondering how to remove it. Thanks for the tip. I wish there was a way yo use auto supports but remove some of the auto generated ones. It would save us time by not making us select all the areas that needs support.
    Question: How do we make the layer on top of the support smoother? It’s not that obvious in angled surfaces but it’s both hard to seperate the support from the layer above and it gets wrinkly and stretched.

      you can still set the support to auto then use the support painter to block those areas then it should auto generate everywhere it would normally except where you blocked

    Good day. I have another question. do you know if there's a measuring tool on orca slicer to fit helmets like the mesh mixer app? I don't see one but I'm a super noob. LoL. Im also cant figure mesh mixer out its kind of complicated for me

    • @fischer3d
      @fischer3d  Год назад +1

      Hi there. There is a measuring tool and it includes a scaling function as well. I'm not sure what version they added it, but I'm running 1.9.0 and it's there. It is on the top ribbon next to the Text tool. You can measure the distance between points, faces, line, etc.. next to the measurement on the screen is an icon to scale the part. So if the inside of the helmet is 165mm, but your measurement needs to be 175mm you can input the new dimension and it will scale the whole part to that measurement. I'll for sure do a video on this.
      I hear you about Mesh Mixer. It's a great tool, but you definitely need to learn a new vocabulary on how to work with parts. Here's a great video that sums up how to scale using meshmixer. ruclips.net/video/3yqsZzYTUPA/видео.html

    I have to assume I am doing something wrong but this is an area where Cura is VASTLY superior to orca slicer. I have a model that is almost the full build plate so no room for supports. The model is essentially a tall cylinder with 3 slotted holes a few cm from the top. They MUST be supported but orca insists on running supports all the way from the very bottom up to the top adding over 300gm of filament which is NOT going to happen. I've tried everything I can in orca and nothing stops it from demanding that the supports go the full 227mm from the bottom of the cylinder to the slots up top. Cura however will put the support ONLY in the slot. There's a base area that it can put supports on to support the overhang 5mm above it but orca apparently can't figure out how to do it. I'd slice in Cura but there's something weird going on where it print abysmally slowly...like a day and a half vs 4 hours in orca. Pretty sure it's the volumetric speed but I'm tired of fighting with cura for settings it just doesn't have. I also found orca to be significantly higher quality print than from Cura. If I HAVE to slice this in Cura I'll just delete the model because it's basically a useless file.
    So the big question is: In orca slicer how do we set where the supports START? How do I tell orca to place the supports in a very specific location and build them out from there? Once I paint the supports it would seem logical that I should be able to use a support blocker to tell it where NOT to put supports at all.

      i'd love to see an answer to this so please update if you figure it out. In the meantime, maybe you could print the holes as filled in with that special support material they make. I do imagine that would add some time due to filament changes but it wouldn't add the super tall supports, at least.

    how do you click on internal faces that are fully enclosed?

    • @fischer3d
      @fischer3d  8 месяцев назад

      If the purpose is to add supports the easiest way is to click the "Support Painting" icon. Then slide the "Section View" slider. That will expose the internal surfaces.
