- Churachandpur, a town in Manipur, recently witnessed a tribal solidarity march on May 3. Unfortunately, this march resulted in violent clashes, leading to a significant loss of life. The death toll has already exceeded 100, and tensions remain high in the region. Our team visited Churachandpur to assess the ground situation and observed that the people who lost their lives in the ethnic violence are being regarded as martyrs by the local society. This sentiment has fueled a strong desire for revenge among the affected communities.
The situation in Churachandpur is increasingly alarming, especially considering the history of ethnic violence in Manipur. Urgent and immediate steps need to be taken to initiate a peace process to prevent further escalation of violence and safeguard the lives of the people in Manipur. Failure to address this situation promptly may result in severe consequences for the state and its people.

Today India is giving quotas system to tribals in every sphere right from job selection to till retairment govt is selecting those tribals with very low mark in every department knowingly that the effecincy of the candidates might reduced the productivity. The peaceful rally didn't turn into violence. It ended peacefully but, after almost 3hrs of the rally, Meitei Terrorists came and burned Centenary Gate at Kangvai and they beat up some Kuki-Zo who returned back home after participating in the rally. That's how the violence has started.

Over the years, government is trying to tackle the situation but not successful enough. With Act East policy, our connectivity with South East Asian countries including Myanmar will be increased significantly but we don't want our state to be a drugs hub and people take advantage of connectivity with poppy cultivation. Not a single community is targeted. Muslims rank 1 in drug trafficking, kuki comes second. Police caught illegal drugs traffickers and poppy planters irrespective of caste & community. IDK why kuki community feels offended in government action?
