The Gordie Howe International Bridge project is a once-in-a-generation undertaking. Not only will the project deliver much-needed transportation improvements for international travellers, it will also provide jobs and opportunities for growth to the Windsor-Detroit region and includes features that make this project truly distinctive.
The project is being delivered through a public-private partnership (P3). A public-private partnership is a long-term performance- based approach to procuring public infrastructure where the private sector assumes a major share of the risks in terms of financing and construction and ensuring effective performance of the infrastructure, from design and planning, to long-term maintenance.

The single coolest part of this video for me is around the 3:25 mark when the temporary supports are removed and you can actually SEE how much the road deck moves as it shifts its weight over to the cables.

      What time is that?
I guess the two sides aren't connected just yet.

I’m an American millwright and we have to use metric all the time. Mainly because a lot of the equipment we install is foreign made.

Nice. Would really enjoy seeing time-lapse of just the view starting around 2:41 or 2:48 once the bridge is done and without switching to other views. Very cool seeing the cable tensioning lift the end on the American side closer to proper elevation.

They are surveying constantly to ensure the two sides align perfectly when they meet in the middle! Probably won't be off by more than an inch. 😄

When the Windsor Detroit tunnel was being built 100 years ago when both sides met in the middle they were off by less than an inch.

PTS Surveying Inc., survey errors caused a misalignment on a bridge that was part of a completed $206-million segment of Washington state's $4.51-billion State Route 520 Bridge Replacement.

Can someone from the actual bridge company answer this question, when will the bridge actually connect, before or after the plazas are finished? And why?
