    Hey thanks for the video! Btw Does it supports VRR on PS5? Some people on reddit say monitors mostly can't do that because they don't support HDMI Forum's VRR standards.

      Judging by the reviews I've read for the AOC, if you're doing PC gaming, I would go for the AOC. If you run two monitors and use the monitor mainly for media consumption, then the Huawei would be my choice.

    Thanks for the detailed review my brother! I'm currently deciding between this and the Dell S2722DGM from Dell, both with similar specs - a 27" curved VA panel monitor, 1440p, high refresh rate >144HZ. Which would you recommend and seek your advice for better alternatives if any?
    I use my monitor mainly for school and light gaming. The price difference between the Huawei Mateview GT 27" and the Dell S2722DGM is about 72 USD in my country.

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  2 года назад +3

      Between those two, I'd say that the Mateview does take the cake since the panel is more color accurate. (120% sRGB vs 99% sRGB). Other than that the specs seem pretty similar.
      So in terms of your use case, I would grab the mateview because you'll get a better image and the downsides I mentioned in the video won't really affect you.

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  2 года назад +1

      The monitor, like most other monitors, doesn't have speakers. You're going to need speakers that you can connect to your xbox or just use headphones.
      If you choose to go with speakers, then if you're on Xbox One, you can use the optical port to connect a soundbar for example.
      If you're on the Series X/S, you'd need an hdmi extractor.

    • @mistarj2580

      Yh as much as i love this monitor the lack of a 3.5mm jack means the only way to get sound out of xbox, ps5 and so on is through the controller.. you can also get something called a hdmi sound extractor but it doesnt seem to support 120hz so its pretty annoying all round

    At almost the same price, would you recommend HP's Omen 25i over this if I'm a casual gamer and a student who'll use the monitor for research and media? The Omen is said to have some solid HDR and it's IPS, whereas the Mateview is 1440p and has better contrast

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  2 года назад

      A VA panel will pretty much always have better contrast and an IPS panel will have better colours. Higher resolution will give you a bit more pleasing picture in terms of sharpness. Your choice should depend on what you want out of your displays. Most likely either would be just fine.

    Quality of this video is suprisingly good, good job! Would you consider this monitor if it was ~200$? It is currently on sale where i live and i thought about getting one, my previous pick was x27q from hp which is ~300$ here. Don't know if it's worth downgrading to the va panel for that diffrence.

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  2 года назад +1

      For what kind of usage? For the use cases that I laid out in the video, definitely a decent option. As a competitive gaming display? I'd compare between your local market options and see if the specs really stack up well enough.
      The HP x27q is a bit of a mixed bag from what I've read. Being an IPS panel, it should offer a bit better colour performance but the tests show different.
      That's a really tough one. Since I don't know your specific market, I can't say what would be better but atleast in the EU, Asus has some similarly priced good options.

    Thank you for the great review.
    My question is, is this monitor worth it for 270 euros? I want to replace my MSI optix g24c4 monitor which is 144hz FHD. I want a high refresh rate for FPS games plus a high resolution for the upcoming God Of War game. I would like to hear your opinion.

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  2 года назад

      The biggest question with that is whether or not you can tell the difference between 4ms and a 1ms response time. I don't find 4ms that distracting in single player games (your God of War), but for me FPS games and a slower response time is noticeable.
      Because of that, this one is working as my second monitor right next to my MSI MAG27c which I use for gaming.
      That price does sound decent, but I could get better displays in my country (Finland) for around 300€. And Finland is pretty expensive when it comes to electronics, so I personally would look around a bit more.

  • @noway8662
    @noway8662 2 года назад +2

    This doesn't seem *quite* right, although you're definitely saying lot of right things in your observations. Let me elaborate.
    First of all, there are NO real 1ms respond time monitors using standard panel types (TN/IPS/VA). It's a super common lie in monitor industry. Complete marketing BS. Only OLED's can kind of do it. So if monitor actually had a 4ms response time, it would be quite good actually. It would be a proper 240mhz capable panel, if overdrive is good.
    Reason you feel this display is slow is because it's a regular VA panel, that is not from very latest Samsung VA line.
    This means that it will likely have actual response time well past 7ms, even if the overdrive settings have been perfectly optimized (and they rarely are). That in turn means the panel does not respond fast enough at 144mhz. You can do this optimal response time calculation by doing 1000 / xxx hz your monitor is able to do.
    In this case, that number is 1000/144=6.9444ms, which can be rounded up to 7ms. Any more than that will lead to ghosting trails with black and grey color transitions as the panel can't keep up with the refresh rate, which is the main weak point of VA technology, those new Samsung panels being the exception. Trying to use really harsh overdrive to improve the response time will lead to opposite problem, with bluish color overshoot artifacts instead, as you indicated.
    This is why you will often find that a VA panel will work better at 120hz or 100hz than 144/165hz range, if you play around with the overdrive and that famous UFO test.
