It sounds so much richer,i'm so glad i asked you to swap the strings out :)
Matt great information never thought about that
More volume, more resonance, way better all around. It's always amazing what a simple change in strings does to your uke. Thanks Matt.
Fantastic! Coming from donkey's years of guitar playing, I love the depth of sound that low G develops.
Nice Ukes! An external microphone so we can hear you both better would be a great addition. Thanks for this.
Hi Bill, I'm using an off-camera sound recorder. Tends to be OK with decent headphones?
The chance of the strings was a really good idea...
Wonderful sound with the low G, but I'm biased, all of my ukes (tenors) have low G fluorocarbon strings!
For me, low G sounds a lot better on any tenor uke - it really brings out the bass response of the larger body. Plus for fingerpicking it gives you an additional half octave of notes at the bottom end!
I do like the sound, but I'm so used to high G, all my fingerpicking patterns, and lots of the chord progressions I use work best for me with high G. I use the G string open a lot, so its a bit boomy for my style as a result.
Great example of the difference a change of strings can make…
Low G is way better on a tenor.
I always play high G, but I think if you're going to go low G, a tenor is the most effective place to do it.
