  • How does a green grocer’s son from Essex become a best-selling author? Having written over 30 novels, Tony Parsons is well established as one of Britain’s favourite authors and newspaper columnists.
In recent years he has created the Detective Max Wolfe crime series. The first book in the series, “The Murder Bag”, went to No.1 in the Sunday Times bestseller list and in 2023 was voted one of the ‘100 Best Crime Novels of All Time’.
His early career included covering the heady days of 70’s music for New Musical Express, including the explosion of punk rock, as well as covering 70’s superstars such as David Bowie.
He subsequently became a Fleet Street columnist, which included covering 9/11 for the Daily Mirror under the editorship of Piers Morgan prior to moving to Britain’s best-selling newspaper The Sun, where he writes a regular, hugely popular opinion column.
At this special event, Tony will recall tales from his glory days on Fleet Street, plus what it was like to be Boris Johnson’s next-door neighbor, writing the autobiography of then 24-year-old superstar George Michael, his love for Hong Kong, his personal take on where Britain is heading and much more.
Tony’s latest novel, the psychological thriller “Who She Was” was published by Penguin Random House in August 2023.
Moderated by FCC Second Vice President Tim Huxley.
