THANK YOU for sharing what seems to me like a realistic image of Paris. when it comes to parisiens being rude I'm always like... we're not! europeans just don't so small talk and big smiles for no reason (not that it's bad either). (btw, if you haven't already been there, parc de sceaux is amazing now with cherry blossoms, they should be in bloom in about 2 weeks). et ma question : as-tu lu de la littérature française? si non serais-tu prêt pour un challenge?
I studied for 6 months in Paris and one of the things I absolutely loved is how chill everyone is. After living in Mexico City for 5 years, it was such a nice experience. Seeing people be in parks at 5-6pm because they're already off-work, having weekends feel like actual weekends... you can feel the whole atmosphere shift into a full relaxation time, and it's amazing
@Luke Perret Well , I don't think what she said was wrong because she's seeing it from a different perspective . She is Mexican so it must be different for her .
I love what Damon said about Americans being constantly reminded that WE ARE AMERICAN. Patriotism is great and being proud of your country is a good thing, but there's a fine line between patriotism and nationalism. Nationalism can be very blinding and damaging and I see a LOT of it among my fellow Americans.
And you know it's bad when even French people notice it while they're like VIVE LA FRANCE and celebrating LA GRANDE NATION at every opportunity 😂 also, the French National Anthem is the most patriotic thing I ever heard 😜
Marie Bach Wait, I don‘t quite agree about the National Anthem 😅 As a french/german/belgian person I can assure you with a l l m y h e a r t that the belgian anthem is 100% scary-patriotic („Belgium is so great and beautiful and invincible“ etc). The german and french anthem on the other side aren‘t patriotic at all, and I‘m quite confused as why you think it is 😂 They‘re both literaly only appreciating liberty and democracy, at no point whatsoever they say that France/Germany are the best (or good at all) nations, only that they will fight for the people - that is, because it was written in times of the French Revolution (fight against the monarchy)
GUYS don't make a confusion between France and Paris. Paris is not France, there is so many diversity here, and we can't focus only on one city to make generalities :( (yeah I'm french so sorry for my English)
Maë ...I’m confused as to why people claim certain cities, states or regions are not part of their country. Being a US citizen, many individuals claim states such New York, California and Florida are not the United States...or *_America._* Of course these states do *_not_* represent the entire United States, but they’re still part of the US, just like Paris is part of France, even though it only represents a fraction of the country. I lived in San Francisco for five years, and yes, the major cities get far more attention than the rest of the state, but once a person leaves the city and drives throughout California, it becomes blatantly clear the different ideologies and lifestyles, and in many ways, friendlier people than in the cities. But that’s the problem, especially in the United States, where the country is geographically massive, and tourists are limited in money and time to see outside the cities and the usual tourists locations. I can only guess it’s a similar problem in France, where tourists lack the money and/or time to visit places outside the usual places, like Paris.
Bonjour, so my questions are, how not to look and behave (or misbehave 😆) like a tourist in Paris? And what are your favorite French snacks, you always buy or stock up on to bring back to the US ? Btw xoxo from Germany🌼😅
On my study abroad (which mainly consisted of females), our teachers cautioned us to not smile directly at strangers (as to "not give the wrong message"). Why do some Americans feel that the custom of casually smiling is not 'appropriate' in France?
@@shadowdanzer4878 if only he noticed me. I have directly asked for it and he ignored it so when I bought the merch, on "notes to the DamonandJo" (or something like that) I wrote "MARRY ME DAMON". Still waiting 😂
Watch out, the "bisou" ("la bise" actually) starts on the left cheek in south-eastern regions, it sometimes leads to some pretty awkward moments when two people from different regions meet and... Well you got it :D Oh, and in some départements, we do 3 kisses. Oh, and 4 in the North sometimes. Takes pretty much 2-3 minutes to say hi, including the "Ça va ? Et toi ?" haha!
I love hearing someone who gets me! Studied abroad there and came back obsessed. People always ask why I love it so much. I'm just gonna send them this video now. Can't wait to finally make it over to live
I didn't study there - just wandered a few weeks there You can't explain or show Vlogs to someone who has never allowed themselves to be absorbed by France or who found pieces of themselves there they never knew were lost.
this is amazing insight. as an american, i always get so caught up on how rude the french seem from my perspective, but it's just a different way of thinking, man. it's a great one, too. i feel like i just learned about paris from a true parisian, thank you damon! :)
I dated a guy from France for a year and would go to Paris to visit him a lot and I totally and completely agree- at first when I had just met him I thought he was hyper critical of everything, but it really is the fact that they think about everything around them at a deeper level, and so the things he appreciated, he was able to appreciate so much more than I had even thought to consider. And I also completely agree about falling in love with Paris once you're with a Parisian, because there's literally so much I would have missed and skimmed over if it hadn't been for his perspective on it all, along with discovering the actual culture with his family and friends
I’m gonna start film school in Paris next semester, and let me tell you Damon, this video made me very happy. Finally, someone who gets the real beauty of Paris: it’s about how everything is thought before it’s done, from metro station, to Champs-Elysées (which works as a timeline of architecture), it is really a giant magic magnet that atttacts artists and visual thinkers. I just fell in love with that damn city. And your channel ❤️
Damon’s coffee recommendations Good coffee, not a great ambiance: Matamata Partisan Good ambiance, not the greatest coffee: Les pères populaires Mel, Mich et Martin Café merci Le pavillon des canaux
I used to not understand what was so special about French, or Paris for that matter until after I visited. One has to visit Paris to fully get it because the language + architecture + culture + vibes *really* makes more sense all together when you are there.
Nationalism is the best thing for every country without it we'll all not care for our culture and it'll be gone, we need more nationalism and ethno states to keep European, African and Asian culture pure, let the Americas and Australia be the land of mixing.
Tellement contente de t'entendre parler de Paris avec tant d'amour ❤️ Tu as complètement compris notre façon de penser, merci d'aussi bien l'expliquer au monde entier 🙏🙏
I love that you spoke about us French people being considered rude by other countries. I'm in the opposite situation, I'm French but I live in America. In France we don't do small talks but we usually have deeper friendships, and we're more genuine. When we are friendly with someone, it's sincere. It's something I found really hard moving to America. It's harder to build friendships. You feel sometimes people are being kind to you but actually they don't really care and don't really consider you as a friend.
Last year I went on a month long Europe trip and I really had no desire to go to Paris but I ended up adding it to my list since it made the plane ticket back home cheaper. I spent 5 days in Paris and fell in love. I felt so comfortable there and felt like I totally fit in, even not knowing ANY French whatsoever. The French were the nicest people I interacted with in Europe, and I’ve been all over Europe. I can’t wait to go again!
Bonjour! ;-) I'm a French gen-x-er and did the opposite life path, from French culture to English-speaking ones. I totally agree with your conclusions. Your knowledge and appreciation of the French language and society are amazing and it is always fun and instructive to watch! I wish you all the best and the 2 million and beaucoup d'amour dans votre vie!
Omg I was watching this video and thought that I feel the same about Helsinki where I’ve lived 6 months as an exchange student.. and then I found your comment! So lovely!
Damon omg I feel this vid on so many levels. I’m from the states and I’ve noticed the pride of being SO busy but like who cares about being busy if life isn’t fun!? Also agreed on the deep thinking and small talk. I crave realness and just don’t find it often. THIS CHANNEL GIVES ME LIFE
Hi Damon! I visited Paris once in my life, last year in October and it was the most wonderful place I’ve ever been. I wasn’t feeling like I’m there for the first time.It took me back in time a bit and I can’t wait to go back soon and try the places you’ve recommended. Thank you!
Hey, you're life style is amazing and I'm amazed at how much languages you can speak ! Thanks for defending french people's image ! You have a lot of knowledge and a great understanding of french people ! I can really relate to everything you said, the small talk thing, the flags in the US, phylosophy classes... Thanks on behalf of the french people !
Great video!! I moved to France last month. But to Annecy, France. I went to the American school in Paris and I had philosophy. So many of the French students were so advanced in their thinking most French students went to top American colleges. It definitely expanded my thinking about the world as well as current events from another perpective
I love going to Paris I'm half french but live in the united states so when I go to France in the summer my grandparents will take my sister and me to see all the touristy things(2 years ago, one of the places we went to was Versailles) and appreciate Paris together(its very interesting because mt grandmother used to be a history teacher and does a lot of research beforehand so she knows a lot about the history of the places we go)
thank you so much for this, damon. I just came back from a period in paris and related to everything you said. I decided to move to paris later this year and this was all very helpful. merci!
Aghhh this made me really miss Paris. One non touristy thing to do that I think most people don't know about but it's great to meet young people from ALL over the world: the student houses in La cité universitaire have a lot of free events (piano recitals, dance stuff, gatherings, talks, poetry club, salsa night, etc.) it's usually free or super super cheap and there are people from the student houses that are divided by country, so for example you can go to the argentinian house and see tango or to the japanese one for a recital. It's a fun way to meet people, do something interesting in the week and also on a budget.
both tbh, i've already been to bars/clubs with friends and we left places saying "quel son de merde" and we didn't mean the songs sucked, but the sound quality was too awful to actually spend time in there lmao
you and jo encourage me to learn more language and to travel the world, but paris attract me the most! this is the first time of me leaving a comment since.. idk i subscribed your channel like few years ago, the first video i watched was when you give your apartment tour in NY, where you dont even watch any series except Friends and i immediately 100% relate to that! english is my second language and im looking forward to make french my 3rd, thanks to you two! bisou !
I guess it's like any other city in the world. There are always some places you should avoid but the most imortant is to trust yourself. If you feel the street you're walking in seems weird, it's probably because it's weird so, go back and find another way, you know what I mean? Same with people, if you think people around you don't look correct, go back! :) Hope this help!
I went last summer, and I found it pretty safe. I didn’t see any of the infamous street scammers trying to pickpocket me, and most streets towards the center generally had people around. If you’re planning on going and still feel worried if Paris isn’t that safe, then just go with a friend or more.
Thank you! I feel like in my country media really portrays Paris as a dangerous city because of yellow vests protests and terrorist attacks and that's the main source of my concern about safety there
This video was EXTREMELY insightful for me as I actually have a trip booked to Paris and then the South of France with one of my best friends in July, so although we have flights & airbnbs booked we're still looking at activities & restaurants! Already added the digital art museum to our excel sheet to look into :)
Ima just say that I think the reason we aren't taught philosophy in High School in the States is because if we start to question our surroundings, Americans will be less interested in staying Americans.... almost like we gotta keep our staunch nationalism or our nation won't profit...
Everyone👏🏽should👏🏽take 👏🏽philosophy👏🏽I live in Florida and apart of the ib program, so I was able to take Philosophy this year and next year for my senior year. I kid you not, this class opens your mind up to so many things. We’ve discussed things from, the self, morality, and right now we’re talking about religion. We talk about different perspectives and my teacher encourages us to have our own philosophy. It also encourages us to read more because in order to have your own philosophy, you MUST read and broaden your knowledge. It’s so fun to see different views and opening your mind up.
Bref j'espère que tu as compris bonne journée 😊
@@heleneg9495 ohhh merci pour tes corrections, j'apprécie beaucoup! Quand je suis arrivée ici je pouvais dire seulement "baguette" (what a time :') ) donc j'essaie toujours d'améliorer mon niveau de français! Bonne journée!
This was a really cool video! I was raised by my french dad and often visited french family but only moved to France (Paris) ~3 years ago. It's always great to see different perspectives and help me open up about my own opinions of the french. 1. You mentioned the non-touristy charm of Paris, I wanted to add that I love how diverse of a city it is because of all its immigrants, notably arab (eg Algerian) west-african and pacific (eg Senegal, Martinique). As well as the Asian communities that have formed the various China-towns, Little India, etc. You can see how enriched the city has become bc of this and there are so many cool people to meet, and things like the Ganesh festival to attend ^^ 2. The thing about 'settling' for something 'subpar' was interesting - I always thought of the french as picky because they were westerners with the privilege of variety. I grew up in different third-world countries so when you went to the market for tomatoes, say, you just bought tomatoes. There weren't bio or GMO tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, yellow, green, flat. There were just tomatoes. There was no fine-dining (although there was street food, which I miss a lot) or chefs with stars and magazine critiques. But the french are right to have high standards if they have access to that kind of variety, I always assumed they were the pickier of the westerners but that's also why their country has such great food!
Yes on the scheduling!!! I am from Ireland and moved to the US and it was so strange for me to see how far ahead people would plan, and it would almost freak people out when I tried to make last minute plans with them lol
Yeah but you also have to say bonjour when you walk into a store even if you're just browsing and have no intention of buying or asking a question. As an introvert that sucked in France.
The way he describes his critical thinking with Paris is how replicate that mindset with my interactions with people and that’s why I feel like no one loves to be with me as much as I want to be with them lolol
just a few second beginning the video, you bombarded us with a lot of french words, what an interesting way! 😅 Now I reconsider my ability of french comprehension
This was so GREAT. I've been to Paris three times now and at first I hated it, but of course the third time I was like OHH this is why everyone loves Paris. So freaking lucky to have even been enough times to say that! But would love to go back and hang out there for a few weeks and learn French. Would love to get stories about your time in Paris and more about other places in France you've been and how they compared. You and Jo always put out the best content, keep it up guys!
Thank you thank you thank you for taking the time to write out all of the places you mention- there would be a 0% I would be able to find those things otherwise
12:48 c'est complétement moi! 🤣 I totally relate!! I'm like "b*tch say hello before asking me your damn question!" 😂 I loved this video and I loooove your french accent! It's funny to see why foreigners loves Paris! I hope to meet you guys in Paris one day! ❤️ Bisous!
Bonus fact from a parisian: la Petite Ceinture was a railroad track going around the city (ceinture = belt), its been out of service for years. Some parts are being rehabilitated into public spaces with parks, walks, bike lanes... That's what Damon is referring to here. Some parts have been destroyed and build over, and, most importantly, some other parts are still left alone and closed to the public. That's where Elliott goes in Skam FR. If you know where to look online you can find the points of entrance that are accessible. If you get caught you are usually let go with a warning, a lot of people actually go. It's a famous urban photography spot for example. Now some parts are shady and the terrain can be dangerous so... users discretion I guess. That was my unsolicited Ted Talk. Thank you.
The last tidbit about sitting at a cafe... I relate so hard to everything you just described. When I went to Paris I could not get over the little details. Such a beautiful city. I cannot wait to live there xx
Honestly that‘s one of the only videos from non-parisians about Paris that I‘ve ever liked, so congrats&thanks ! You may not have grown up here, but you certainly understand my culture and city very very well :) (also thx for 3:50 you really flattered me n my fellow europeans hehe)
Every time I watch your videos on living in Paris, I just want to move there SOOOO BADLY. Not even just Paris but in Europe in general. I love that you validate my feelings of wanting to move to somewhere in Europe because its exactly those same reasons you speak about that make me want to live there. So tired of my home town and I'm in desperate need of a more philosophical and cultured setting.
Brought my 2 best friends to Paris to show them why I’m so in love with the city ♥️ they didn’t get it at first but my enthusiasm rubbed off on them at one point ahah
Damon! I stumbled across this and found your channel and just love it. I'm and American living in Paris and yup, you are 100% on all of this! One important note though. You said the only reason you're not living here is because of taxes. I just went through all of this, and can say that you have nothing to be worried about. You will definitely not pay taxes twice (to the US and France). It's sure... there are several administration mechanisms in place to prevent this. So you're totally good to live here permanently. I'm freelance and work with US clients and that's what I do!
The way I was taught: * North America - the continent (that includes Canada, the US, and Mexico plus some tiny island countries); * America - short for the United States. Has something changed?
@@MayaTheColdplayer I was taught that America is one continent (including north america, central america and south america) and that the USA just took the word America as its own. It's like when you say east or west Europe, it's just a part of Europe not different continents
@@nataliaguzman3687 no, its considered two continents in the US and Canada, at least. Maybe in other countries as well. Thats why its called "the Americas" in English.
Damon you are the best!! So insightful, intelligent, funny, witty and passionate! I just came back from Paris and also lived in the USA and can relate to everything you say, it´s so spot on. Paris will miss you a lot till you come back there :)
all of your videos leave me with such a bittersweet taste in my mouth. bitter, because i'm just a little bit jealous of all of your adventures. and sweet, because now i know (because of you) that soon, i will have those adventures myself. thank you for all of the amazing content. sending love!
Very good video Damon and thank you for breaking the stereotypes about us (french). I found it very interesting, i had so many conversation with foreign friends about things like : french are not very productive, they have so many vacations.... it's always difficult for my friends to understand that we value our personal time more than our professional time. I guess it's a very european thing, a job is just a job . it's always very confusing for foreigners. I'm glad you're able to understand and appreciate the french dolce vita :)
As a French girl, I love listening to u talking about the vision u have of American civilization ( I am about to start studying it at school)! I also love learning about strangers' vision of France (this is why I am watching ur video) but I also want to know how strangers see our vision of their culture now 😂
Both you and Jo are proof how important it is to travel and live in different places around the world. It makes us see our own cultures with different eyes. You were spot on about us, Europeans - we freaking hate being fake and the first thing that a European noticed in the States is how all the waiters are being fake nice and fake interested and it bothers us (well, me personally lol). Also about American patriotism - it’s all cool, but once you’re in Europe you realize how much Americans are reminded every day that they are the greatest nation on Earth, and it starts being freaky. Well... I love your videos, I love your French, this vid made me go back to Paris! :)
Often what I notice is that Damon has an American perspective that is really comes from his midwestern white experience as an American. As an non-white American from a small city in the North East I can say from personal experience that some things he said he only started to consider in Paris were things Ive thought for a long time, even though I’ve never traveled outside the east coast of the US or lived in big cities. For example not enjoying small talk, being very appreciative of architecture, being critical of the extent of American patriotism and national anthem. Those are all things I’ve been aware of since early adolescence. It just goes to say everyone is product of where they grew up and who they grew up around. And America is so big with so much diversity in people and cultural mixtures it’s sometimes a little incorrect to say “Americans think this way” when even in America we have differing cultures in different regions of our country. [obviously in certain ways Americans are super similar and have common experiences, but in other ways we can have such a variety of experiences that American themselves and foreigners can be unaware of]
As a European ....I just want to say....you totally get it. Almost unheard of for an American.... and one of the things you said struck me as really important......growing up with the capacity for critical thinking. We’re not conscious of it but in Europe we think about everything, we discern everything...... but many Americans who visit Europe or even live here don’t seem to be able to see the world through any other eyes but their own (which often have a very narrow focus). ❤️ your videos 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼applause applause applause.
didn't you just write that you see things through your eyes? Why then do you put down people who see things through their own eyes and upbringing? Sounds a bit hypocritical.
Do you ever get outside of Paris? I lived (and don't speak French) but I lived in La Rochelle, Portiers and Angulem for a while and loved the French countryside and the castles. I did a road trip to Bilbao Spain and learned a lot about the Gypsi population and the Basque people. Andora was cool too. Will you ever make a French countryside video or take a road trip through France? I hope you get to see more of France. I hope you enjoy your time there and I hope you and Jo get to make some videos together. Thanks for this video!
I lived in Paris for 12 years and then I moved to Cannes. I miss Paris all the time and go back there whenever I can. I am in love with Paris the same way you are. It is a "moveable feast" as Hemingway put it. I love walks at night, imagining all the artists who used to live there. And you're right, the language is so sexy. I wish I had two lives to take full advantage of this beautiful city and to do all the things there are to do. You are so cool by the way. Love the way you put things, it's so funny! Hugs from Cannes🤗😘
DamonAndJo aww I’m also from Romania and it’s great to hear that at least you’ve heard about our country haha=)) it would be super cool if you tried to learn Romanian, since it’s also a Roman language and the only one of them that you don’t speak yet;)

I love what Damon said about Americans being constantly reminded that WE ARE AMERICAN. Patriotism is great and being proud of your country is a good thing, but there's a fine line between patriotism and nationalism. And you know it's bad when even French people notice it while they're like VIVE LA FRANCE and celebrating LA GRANDE NATION at every opportunity 😂 also, the French National Anthem is the most patriotic thing I ever heard 😜
@@masha7377 That's true 😅. For all the ruckus America makes, our national anthem is pretty lame in comparison to la Marseillaise.
Marie Bach Wait, I don‘t quite agree about the National Anthem 😅 As a french/german/belgian person I can assure you with a l l m y h e a r t that the belgian anthem is 100% scary-patriotic („Belgium is so great and beautiful and invincible“ etc). The german and french anthem on the other side aren‘t patriotic at all, and I‘m quite confused as why you think it is 😂
They‘re both literaly only appreciating liberty and democracy, at no point whatsoever they say that France/Germany are the best (or good at all) nations, only that they will fight for the people - that is, because it was written in times of the French Revolution (fight against the monarchy)
I don't think the athem think is a problem we have our reasons to have it. But we don't need to constantly remind ourselves we're American
The city of Paris should pay you man ! You're so passionate, listening to you is so pleasing ❤ Bisous

GUYS don't make a confusion between France and Paris. Paris is not France, there is so many diversity here, and we can't focus only on one city to make generalities :( (yeah I'm french so sorry for my English)
Maë I agree, you can definitely say this about the U.S.A and many other countries too! Also, you have great English, do not apologize :)
I'd also love to visit Nice, Lyon, Marseille
jb hann I think they were simply saying that Paris does not represent all of France, not that Paris is not a part of the country
I wish my French was as good as your english.
Footnote: Generalise is better than ''make generalities''. Keep learning English. Cheers xx

Bonjour,
so my questions are, how not to look and behave (or misbehave 😆) like a tourist in Paris?
And what are your favorite French snacks, you always buy or stock up on to bring back to the US ?
Btw xoxo from Germany🌼😅
how about the muslims there?
On my study abroad (which mainly consisted of females), our teachers cautioned us to not smile directly at strangers (as to "not give the wrong message"). Why do some Americans feel that the custom of casually smiling is not 'appropriate' in France?
Can you explain or give your take on European fashion? Subtle tips to not look like a foreigner but still flex on the 'gram?!

Hysterically laughing when you mimicked the French waitress being passive agressive because the customer forgot to say "bonjour". So true.
I used to not understand what was so special about French, or Paris for that matter until after I visited. One has to visit Paris to fully get it because the language + architecture + culture + vibes *really* makes more sense all together when you are there.
Yes, nationalism indoctrination starts at birth in the US.
Nationalism is the best thing for every country without it we'll all not care for our culture and it'll be gone, we need more nationalism and ethno states to keep European, African and Asian culture pure, let the Americas and Australia be the land of mixing.

Hi Damon! I visited Paris once in my life, last year in October and it was the most wonderful place I’ve ever been. I wasn’t feeling like I’m there for the first time.It took me back in time a bit and I can’t wait to go back soon and try the places you’ve recommended. Thank you!

Great video!! I moved to France last month. But to Annecy, France. I went to the American school in Paris and I had philosophy. So many of the French students were so advanced in their thinking most French students went to top American colleges. It definitely expanded my thinking about the world as well as current events from another perpective
Love this video, I moved here six months ago and feel the exact same way about the city.
Damon, us Parisian viewers need a meet-up with you!!!
*kdsjlkdjlks when french ppl say "ce son" they don't mean the sound system they mean the song hahaha*
both tbh, i've already been to bars/clubs with friends and we left places saying "quel son de merde" and we didn't mean the songs sucked, but the sound quality was too awful to actually spend time in there lmao
you and jo encourage me to learn more language and to travel the world, but paris attract me the most! this is the first time of me leaving a comment since.. idk i subscribed your channel like few years ago, the first video i watched was when you give your apartment tour in NY, where you dont even watch any series except Friends and i immediately 100% relate to that! english is my second language and im looking forward to make french my 3rd, thanks to you two! bisou !
What about safety in Paris?
Love the video btw!
People who ask about safety in Paris shouldn’t bother coming here
I went last summer, and I found it pretty safe. I didn’t see any of the infamous street scammers trying to pickpocket me, and most streets towards the center generally had people around. If you’re planning on going and still feel worried if Paris isn’t that safe, then just go with a friend or more.
If you're a tourist don't dress as one because pickpocket obviously but other than that people aren't scared about security overall

You can see how enriched the city has become bc of this and there are so many cool people to meet, and things like the Ganesh festival to attend ^^
I'm so inspired by you, Damon. You friggin rock
moneymonster me too😩😩😩

Yeah but you also have to say bonjour when you walk into a store even if you're just browsing and have no intention of buying or asking a question. As an introvert that sucked in France.
The way he describes his critical thinking with Paris is how replicate that mindset with my interactions with people and that’s why I feel like no one loves to be with me as much as I want to be with them lolol

YESSSSSSS
Thank you.

Damon! I stumbled across this and found your channel and just love it. I'm and American living in Paris and yup, you are 100% on all of this! One important note though. You said the only reason you're not living here is because of taxes. I just went through all of this, and can say that you have nothing to be worried about. You will definitely not pay taxes twice (to the US and France). It's sure... there are several administration mechanisms in place to prevent this. So you're totally good to live here permanently. * North America - the continent (that includes Canada, the US, and Mexico plus some tiny island countries);
* America - short for the United States.

[obviously in certain ways Americans are super similar and have common experiences, but in other ways we can have such a variety of experiences that American themselves and foreigners can be unaware of]
Love this info. You're great, you cover so much of the differences.
the atelier des lumieres is always crowded thooo
You're the reverse of me, I speak fluent american but, i'm French
Do you ever get outside of Paris? I lived (and don't speak French) but I lived in La Rochelle, Portiers and Angulem for a while and loved the French countryside and the castles. At night it's better :)
Rose de minuit 😂😂😂
J'adore son énergie! Ce mec devrait faire chroniqueur à la TV, il a beaucoup de charisme et il est cultivé, ça se voit.
Uhh lmao I have a question: Do french ppl treat you differently depending on your race? A friend of mine is from the Philippines and she's worried about studying in France because she says that ppl might look down at her (lol besides her being rlly short) thx! Love your vids btw ♥️
Hi i’m french and in France there is some racism but like everywhere I suppose?
Paris is pretty diverse. So I would say she should have no issues. Just don't be out late at night
sun princess it is logical to think that. French white people often have racist thoughts
I think your friend should be just fine, a lot of french people have asian or african origins, so their is a large variety of colour and diversity. Especially younger generations are really open to diversity, but as it is everywhere I suppose
Heyy! I'm french and NO it's totally illegal to treat people differently because of their origines! But there can be racism, exactly like everywhere, it's not a problem of France specially
