I'm getting married this spring too and I totally feel you on the "people expecting to be invited even when you haven't talked to them in x number of years." I've had extended family who just straight up invited themselves without even talking to me first, and these are people I have not had much interaction with majority of my almost 26 years of living. The uncomfy conversations were truly exhausting. But at the end of the day, it's your day and Polo's day, no one else gets to have a say other than both of you. Do what's best and comfy for you both and don't pay any mind to their negativity! Wishing you and Polo the best in your wedding planning and I can't wait to see everything you'll post about it 🤍
Remember that just because some people choose to voice their displeasure at a decision you make does not mean that their words are worth listening to! Don’t be paying them any mind and don’t be guilted into inviting people you don’t want to be there!

Getting married is hard work and there will always be some obstacles, whether with family & friends’ opinions, the reality of planning, etc.
You definitely can not please everyone, and the day is all about you and Polo…at the end of the day people will understand that!
So glad you understood and recognized that you needed a Planner, and found one that made you feel comfortable and taken care of ! I am a Planner in NYC and our number one priority is listening to what our couples really want and delivering that, while making them feel relaxed and comfortable! So BRAVO to your Planner!

You are doing the right thing. It is about the both of you. I am in my 50s. When we got married, we chose not to have kids at the wedding for the same reason as you. It was the best decision for what we wanted. Same goes for people who want to be invited to wedding. Just politely tell them you are having a small private ceremony with with family. Limited space. It is what it is. Suggest to those who wanted to be invited that you all can catch up at a restaurant after the wedding as you are very busy right now. Do not feel badly about it. There is limited space and no room for anyone to be added. Your wedding no will be awesome!

Planning a wedding is definitely an experience… joy, excitement, stress, anticipation, frustration, confusion, anxiety, satisfaction in what you have achieved and so much more.
Even though the planning is challenging your hard work will pay off and it is obvious to see that you are creating a weekend that reflects the two of you.
My advice is that after all the planning, when the day comes try to put all of that aside. Just enjoy the day(weekend) as it unfolds. There may be some things that do not go quite as you have planned but if you and Polo just let it go none of your guests will have any idea that something else was supposed to happen. I think the greatest factor in having a wonderful wedding that all your guests enjoy is simply a happy relaxed bride. The brides mood really sets the tone of the wedding. So when the weekend arrives relax and enjoy your families and friends and most of all your love. Remember no matter what happens at the end of the day you will be married and that is truly all that really matters. ♥️
I’m definitely with you on having a small wedding. We got married almost 22 years ago. (Wow! Doesn’t seem like it was that long ago.) We invited 150 of our “closest” friends and family. One of the reasons for that number is the place we chose. We had to pay for 150 people either way. While I still love where we got married, I wish the number was closer to 30-50 people. If you haven’t been in contact with people you don’t want to invite, you won’t miss them in your life. Small wedding is a great idea and it sounds like it’s going to be magical. Yeay for your puppy, the ring-bearer!

Yes so so important to get the right photographer and videographer that shares your vision that is so so important. You want your pictures to come out the way you want you will have to look at them for years to come 💕 it must be much harder to plan a wedding that is a destination wedding. My wedding was local but man your memories and photos are going to be so nice 🫶🏼 👰🏼♀️✨ eeek I’m so excited for you! 🥰
Honestly Lou, it sounds like the dream wedding plan. Small, comfy and private is perfection, I am definetly rewatching this video when my time comes to organize!
Also, I have been a guest at weddings a few times and I felt honoured to be asked to join the occasion, but I felt embarassed and anxious by the amount of people I didn't know and I had to introduce myself to. I can't understand why someone would want to be invited in an environment where nobody knows them. Also the no-kids rule is really good, there is no way a kid (and teenagers too to be honest) would be happy to be forced into a wedding where there is nothing that can entertain them. I think everyone attending your wedding will be grateful for the way you organized it at the end!
I’m on the same phase as you tbh, so it’s always interesting hearing other brides takes. My weddings in September, we found out venue in Sep last year (in a gorgeous country villa/chateau in Italy) and it’s Jan now and I’ve already planned and booked everything. Just details left in choosing certain nuances. I picked a dress I always dreamt about but never thought I was good enough for, it felt like ME, it represented me and it blew me (and my MoH, mum and sister) AWAY! Comfort is always important in every way. Wedding planners are just the best! I couldn’t do this without mine!
We (unfortunately) will be having kids because we can’t not let parents bring their kids but we are not accommodating them, we will inform the parents that it’s their responsibility.
And the nanny for Masha is the smartest thing you will ever do, we just never stop worrying about our fur babies and golden retriever + pool AND lake = we know how that goes 😂
I know 😂😂😂 the lake is what worries me the most to be honest, she sees lake or ocean and she forgets I exist and just sprints towards the water

We invited only 60 people to our wedding and are having our 30th wedding anniversary this June and we would do it all again the EXACT same way! We spent the day with our closest circle of family and friends and it was simply magical! I wish you two the same magic! 🤍🤍🤍

Omg my wedding was overwhelming but beautiful. I was fortune tho my venue had packages however you were able to tweak them and bring your own vendors in. They even gave me a list of their preferred vendors for each line item i could contact and interview which eliminated the need for a planner it had everything i would need and i got to hire my own people. The majority of the vendors i used came from their preferred list and were amazing. Partially because the hotel worked with them alot. I was glad i didnt have to use their people or anyone that worked for them

It's funny how you mention not liking being the center of attention. That's one of the reasons why I was scared to get married 😂 my husband's parents wanted to invited 2 of their friends (a couple) and I was like no way. For some people, it's hard to understand why this is a big deal but for me it was a big deal. I wouldn't have felt comfortable (especially not liking being the center of attention).
I'm so glad you were able to find the people that work for you and not just settle for the first ones you found. It's important to know yourself and choose what you truly like.
I was also debating between two dresses but I chose the one that is more me, classic, elegant and timeless and to be honest the price was also a huge factor, there was a 7k difference between the two and after many discussions with friends and family I realized that spending 10k plus on a dress I'll wear one day is too much and I'm happy with my decision, I look at the photos and I think I looked absolutely perfect, just like I envisioned in my head.
I also had 3 bridesmaids, they chose the dresses but I only asked for the same length,meaning they had to wear a dress that is a maxi just for a more pull together look for the photos but each chose the style or the color she wanted, I made a "bridesmaids kit" for each of them with flip flops and make-up btushes, hand cream, mirror and hairbrush and a bridesmaids robes customize with their names and they were so excited and we had so much fun getting ready all together, it was simply a magical perfect day that I was nervous buy not anxious because I surrounded myself with my best of friends and my loving family to calm me down (and my amazing husband that in general is my best calming person when I'm nervous)

Remember the wedding day is about You and Polo. It is about what you both want and how you want it to be. Who you want there at your wedding. Tune out the noise-meaning people’s opinions, etc.
It is good you have a wedding planner who lives in the area, knows your wedding venue, knows the vendors, and who you click well with. You have a wedding planner who is helping you carry out your plans.
Since you have a professional photographer, I understand your perspective about having your guests not use their phones during the wedding. I suggest having your wedding planner have coat check also check in your guests’ mobile phones. Just my two cents worth. They should enjoy the day along with you and Polo.
Just wondering, are you also having a videographer working alongside the photographer?
The people who are pissed about not being invited or not having their random plus ones aren’t the ones who are truly happy for you. This day is for you and polo and people need to respect that.

I really recommend you to visit the Chateau of course it’s kind of the essential thing to do in Angers, there is also the « Jardin des plantes » which is a beautiful garden with some animals (not a zoo), in terms of restaurants I would recommend you « Les Petits prés » which is THE restaurant of the city, for a more casual lunch I would go for the « Corleone » which is a Italian restaurant (if you go there, take the Bruschetta they’re amazing !), The Cathedral Saint-Maurice is also a beautiful place and it’s near the castle. Also every first Sunday of the month there is a flea market near the castle. I hope it helped you 😊

Not everybody wants kids at their wedding, and that's okay! I do think your decision to keep things smaller.
I know someone who was invited to a wedding at a well-known french venue just to make up the numbers. I'm guessing someone had to back out, and as the food etc was paid for, the couple asked someone else quite soon before their big day. The invite was accepted, not because of their connection to the bride, but purely because of the venue. If I was getting married again, I would only want special people there. Nor would I want to be asked just to make up the numbers. Like you, my social capacity is quite small, and so was our wedding. We got married in a church where the vicar was somebody who had been there for my father in law when he was seriously ill. We also had just two guests and a choir - we married just before Christmas, and it snowed on the day, so it was magical. The point is, do what's right for you, and if people don't get that, it's not your problem.

Weddings are difficult... regret letting my mom and aunt talk me out of a wedding planner, especially on the day of the wedding! Also, I wish I would have made mine smaller, I completely understand how hard it is to make a guest list. People get their feelings hurt, and you really shouldn't have to explain yourself. 🙁 It's your big day. Would highly recommend a videographer as well with drone shots. Photographs are nice, but it's nice to watch actual footage. Best wishes & good luck. 🙏🤗🩵
