- AIDA * Course in the Submarine Escape Training Tank (SETT) in Gosport, taught by Deeper Blue (see www.deeperblue.... for more information).
One of only a handful of such facilities, the tank trains submariners from around the world in a swimming pool 6m across and 28m deep. Amongst the students on the class were members of BSAC London No.1 Branch, see www.londondiver...
In response to certain comments, please note that the sequence between 2:02 and 2:48 is a simulated diver rescue drill .

Soundtrack is 'Want II' by Michael Brook.
This is so good to watch, brings back memories. !0 years ago i was one of the first groups to go freediving in the SETT with Howard Jones. 29 and getting old :-)
Great Job! I really felt free watching this video! I will start doing some free dive.
Guys, you are f******* crazy to go in there, really admire you!!!!
According to Shazam, the track is Want II, by Michael Block... more than that I cannot find! Please if anyone finds anything more, pop the info on here! Smashing bit of film!
Brilliant man!! I was freediving on the same weekend there :) Omar aka "blackout boy"
You are correct that the "bends" are caused by nitrogen bubbles.
BUT only if you inhale compressed air, therefore the total pressure of gas in your body will be more than 1BAR and you will have an overload of gas (both oxygen and nitrogen). The oxygen gives no problems, the nitrogen does as it cannot escape the body quickly.
When you do not inhale compressed air under water (like free divers) you have no problems and you do not need to decompress.
Thanx for the clarification Kulderij!
A well done video .Thnx .Also as others have asked who's
the incredible sound track by. ?
Nice video. Wish I could even dive like that!!
Please send me the link to this track.
This video is perfect for freediving. Good job!
Here in Belgium we have the 'nemo 33', look it up on youtube, it's awesome!!
Err.. Long story Flavia :) Not sure I want to mention that on the web haha...
Joe I keep watching this video and really hats off!! Cheers :)
Would love to try the SETT tank, think I went diving w/ Omar off the coast of Hatteras in 99'. Like rock quarries myself only been 60' (20m). Do you get the mammalian dive reflex in the tank or is it too warm?
where is the SETT at .. awsome clip !
There not getting the bends because they are not staying down there long enough. Is that the correct answer? the "bends" is a rapid expansion of nitrogen bubbles in your bloodstream caused by coming up too fast after being past a certain depth. If you just go down and come back up, it would be hard to get the bends. Now if im wrong someone please correct me. but its not "compressed air at depth" that gives you the bends, its not decompressing properly on the way up.
@TheModdedBullet Humans can go much deeper than 30 eters and come back alive. And this pool was designed to practise escaping submarines.
If you prepare with your torso in the water, isn't it harder to fill your lungs as much as when in the air?
@jhesketh75 nice video!! Freediver myself. Love the audio track on here. Can you message me the info for the track?
Love this video, but who does the track?
@goldenguy12345 No it's done at the Former HMS Dolphin in Gosport Hampshire.
Can you still dive there?
what is this song!!!! i love it
@827806 Nah, they equalize as they go down. Doesn't hurt if you know how to do it.
They look like they're coming up awful fast. How come they don't get the bends?
How do u hold ur breth so long after 15 seconds id have to come up for air
holy shit.. i want to go there!
@Dreaklock holding there breath no nitrogen gets disolved in blood if you dont breath under water and they arnt scuba diving
Hold your breath, and if you feel like:"I can't go on", hold it for 5-10 more seconds, if you do this about 3times a day, you will be able to hold your breath longer.
Whats the name of this song........? plz
Board shorts! What are boards doing in this video?
Very much there is no kind from depth, from a bottom, it is strange why is not present.
what happened at 2:35?
@IRONMAN2570 how u do that?
How do you learn to do this?
How deep is that pool?
ohhhh right! It was a rescue drill.
What's the name of the song? :)
where is this?!

@827806 doesnt hurt your ears ever heard of equilizing
was the girl falling unconscious? little scary then :P
they can stay underwater without breathing for so long?i cant even get inside without breathing for 1 minutes
2:05 blackout?
bella la musica, carino il montaggio, ma la tecnica lascia un po a desiderare
nice video =))
that must hurt ur ears a lot and thats scary
i can hold for like 1min, but after my head start hurting
man....thats scary...
@MrSexyfirefighter i agree it is
@827806 they know how to equalize
What if you go too deep and run out of breath and while your going up you drown?
And why the fuck would anyone make a pool that deep when they know no-one is gona go that deep and come back up dead? And I could barely hold my breather for like 15 seconds.
finally a good place to sew rolex
u equalise them
1min? your body can but perhaps not your mind
