Awesome!!! Store bought stove pipe is outrageously high priced right now so I searched for homemade stove pipe & found this!!! THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING!!!
You can use binder rings, or I made a set from stainless steel wire from a car window regulator, cut wire to length then pick out the correct size of electrical wire connectors peel off the plastic insert both wire ends and crimp super simple and cheap.
Thats awesome. I have a stovepipe I had made out of a piece of stainless steel muffler pipe for my TMS woodsove. I had a shop flange it and put a curve in it so I could run it out the sidewall of a wall tent instead of out the roof. I still have the other stovepipe for it though too. And a bigger Alpine woodstove with a bigger stovepipe. And a military diesel heater :-P
I live in the UK and I'm struggling to find the equivalent to "dollar store cookie trays" - any ideas for alternatives, or just alternative search terms! Great idea!
No. They stay rounded and I put them inside my wool blanket and/or tarp. This way they take up little space. Keep in mind the finished stovepipe is only a couple feet in length. Depending upon your hot tent setup you might have longer pipes. Hope this helps some!
Absolutely, it also only takes just about an hour overall to do if you have all the stuff on hand. Another good thing is you can use larger pans for a longer pipe. At the price I bought these a 6ft. tall pipe would be around $6...super cheap!! Thanks for commenting Auf Kurs and I'm glad you like the idea!
Surprised how much stove pipe costs. I am looking for a stove pipe for my van. Been making a diy stove but want something a little more sturdy than this so there is not a seem running up the side.
I wouldn't recommend using them because of the paint on the outside, the plastic lining on the inside and I don't think they'd hold up to the heat well at all.
Great! A tarp tipi tent DIY, a paint can stove DIY, and now the glue pipe DIY. I can get a hot tent setup for under $20 on the parts, rather than spending $500+ on the stove and lightweight tent like a silly person.
But with a "DIY paint can" stove, the thing is so small, you'll be feeding the fire every 20 minutes with fresh twigs. You need something bigger so you're not up all night on a cold night.
Cheaper to just buy some sheet metal than to buy cookie sheets and cut them a metal supplier would have charged you 50 cents and a recycler probably given you some scraps for free
I would like to but the stove I made did not come out as good as the pipe because of the methods I used, unfortunately so I didn't show it. I basically took a six inch stove pipe, used for wood stoves, cut a door in the bottom and put a hole in the top of it to fit this pipe. However it was the hole in the top that was not cut right as I didn't have the right tools on hand like I though I did so it looked pretty gnarly and leaked as well. Which would be dangerous inside a closed in shelter like many would use it, so I decided not to show it. Hopefully I will be able to make another one when I get the right tools for doing so. Thanks for commenting Paranormal One!
Something to keep in mind is the flow of smoke. You should always have the bottom section inside the upper. That way smoke will continue to flow up inside the pipe. In the video, it appears that both end pieces are pushed inside the middle section, which could have smoke leakage into occupied living space from the upper section. Basic HVACR.
Doesnt actually show him doing it lol Well gee! Thats largely my purpose.

Instead of spending $15 on some proper pipe, you can spend $14 and have the benefit of carrying around sharp metal and wire so you can lacerate yourself and shred your backpack and other gear. DIY! On our next episode, I'll show you how to take dumps on your lawn and save the money for toilet paper and sewage serious. Suckers are just throwing their money away.
Bro at the time I made this video, stovepipe for backpacking was only available in 6 ft or 8ft sections and it cost approximately $150. I only needed about 3 ft. So this worked out well. It doesn't cut anything because it gets wrapped up in a section of welding blanket. Have used it for years now and not cut my gear or bag once. It's called thinking outside the box. If you don't like it fine but I'm honestly curious where you're finding stovepipe that can be carried in a backpack for $15. The only pipe I know of that cheap is the 4in. Stuff at the hardware store but that doesn't carry in a backpack too easily.

Great idea love it, today I will make 1
woah really great idea, thanks for making this video!
Very crafty! I just bought the perfect woodstove for my rv last week. I got a really good deal for it. Going to work out perfectly.
Hope you didn't burn the RV down

Excellent idea I've been looking at creating some telescoping stove pipes and those that you made would work perfectly.
it did help! finally got a proper stove pipe for my diy ammo can stove thanks
Same reason I'm here. The answer I was looking for. Thanks for sharing!
Very good job bro.

Cheap biscuit baking sheet.
Can someone link where to get cheap cookie sheets? I searched and only found some for like 20euros
How do you backpack with them? Do you flatten them out and carry flat?
No. They stay rounded and I put them inside my wool blanket and/or tarp. This way they take up little space.

@@TrilliumWildEdibles sounds great!
What did you use as a pipe flange?
Love the idea. More portable and a lot less expensive than a $35 pipe!

What did you use to cut the cookie sheets? Super helpful video!! Thank you! ❤
A pair of tin snips. A dremel or laser cutter would be preferred but I didn't own a dremel at the time and can't afford a laser cutter so I made do.

Great video, ty. Can I use Flue pipe tape to seal the seams?
Excellent idea. Can definitely handle the heat.
They sure can!
nice idea, how much does that weigh?
Less than a pound, those cake pans are really light especially after cutting of the handles!
Are you pnw based?
No, I'm in Indiana.
or use a worm gear clamp
You will have to keep making these. These pans do rust. That is why they are so cheap. Great idea though. Thank you !
they will last for years even with rust on them.
With those edges, any money you saved making your own, is going to be lost (and then some) with your first ER visit. Invest in some kevlar gloves.
Thank you for making this helpful video, it adds to the knowledge base for Make Your Own Gear (MYOG) enthusiasts.
Maybe medium size Redbull cans.

nice video looking for this exact video great work, I do a lot of foraging on playlists if your interested, take care
I'll check it out when I get a chance, thanks for mentioning it!

Add the cost of your time taken to make a special trip to a metal supplier, rather than the store that you already visit
Into the wild is the first thing that comes to mind. Don't mistake the wild potatoes...
nice now let's see what you attached it too!
Hopefully a small fireplace, and I'm making another one for a wood stove I'm making. Thanks for watching and commenting!
A stove
Large oven rack sheets worth and you dont have to cut anything
Stove video please
