All of these shots were remarkable but the shot of 399 and the quad cubs is iconic. Its got everything. Dumping snow, little bit of the snake river, the contrast of the bears on the white snow, even the position of the bears with the open strides and the one cub set just below the others etc. Just amazing.
Thanks buddy!
I'm sitting here looking up good monopod heads and here Steve Mattheis posts the second part of his 2022 recap. also first? timing is a hell of a thing!
You may already have looked into it, but the Wimberley MonoGimbal head may be useful for you.
Steve with Backcountry Gallery has a useful video (3-4 years ago 🤔)
I also use the monogimbal, it's great 👍
The fourth image of the lion in the bushes before light is just 👍👍👍👍💗.
🙏
Messing, sniffing, scanning and walking the fine line- thanks for taking us along, Steve.
Thanks for watching 👍
These are all fantastic images that capture familiar subjects in unique lighting conditions and weather.
Thanks Vaughn🙏
The back-to-back photos of a male lion are a great illustration of the importance of working a scene for different compositions. The environmental photo conveys the "bigness" of the African savannah while the portrait of the big cat puts the majesty of the lion on full display. I can see why you keep going back. You could probably do an entire series of "Top 25 Photos from Africa" if you wanted.
I appreciate it👍
Steve- These are absolutely Stunning shots- not unlike so many of your many photos- Thanks so much for sharing- Terrific!
Glad you enjoyed it👍
More wonderful, totally unique photographs Steve, I'm hoping you have lots of available wall space in your home ! Lol.
Steve, once again spectacular photos. Looking forward to your next 5!!!!!
These are absolutely spectacular Steve! Very well thought out in the field under pressure too.

Fantastic shots Steve, especially love the one of the Lion peecking out of the bushes, Cheers from Down under 😃

Very cool. I love the commentaries with each picture. Looking forward to your next set.
Thanks for taking us along again Steve. The lion photos would have been worth the price of the trip for me!
Me too👍
Keep it up !
Another great set of images Steve. Can't wait for the next 15!!
Many thanks!
Excellent images
Many thanks
Steve, can you talk a bit about what camera mode you most often use in the field. Do you use manual with auto ISO? It seems you need to make shutter and aperture decisions quickly. By the way I love your first ten images.
Epic images!
🙏
Wonderful image of the bears!
Do you have a video from that encounter?
Thanks! I wasn't vlogging that day unfortunately...
I was going to do my best 25 of 2022 but didn't find any!
Hahaha just look through Sandy's files 😂
