I’d like to hear you elaborate more on how to manage the fabrics for a collection. For example, your tips from past experience on how many types of fabrics are easier to manage for a collection of a certain amount of pieces but also still maintain the variety. Thumbs up as usual for such a good content!
I love highly creative and talented people that are confident enough to share the wealth of their knowledge🙂 you are one of those cool people... thank you🌺
Zoe, thank you so much, for sharing your knowledge with us! There are professionals in the field of fashion, who will not be as kind. All that you do to inform, advise and teach us about fashion is greatly appreciated!!!!! 😊💕
I was like one day ill become fashion designer and having my own shop, collection, clothing line...but first of all its expensive and also got no support from family + society for me being guy and tryna pursue for Fashion Designer which is seems to them like Fashion Designer is not meant for fianancially backward classes. Now all i can do is working in shop, save my money for materials so that i can practice from Your channel about basic needs to become fashion designer..
Thank you, hope my work will be viewed and appreciated and make a difference one day, and I will be sure to thank those like you for all the education you’ve provided xoxo
As a calligrapher I really love your handwriting. A good handwriting to me has its own style. I don’t like when I see other calligraphers try and imitate others or the computer.
Oh thanks Zoe! This was kind of illuminating to me! Really far above what I could think to learn! and you are always so clear and professional while being also engaging, fun and entertaining!
Thank you so much as a visual merchandiser here in the persian Gulf.....it really helps a lot..I hope professor you make some videos about cohesivenes of the collection when you put in the boutique...Lab yah......😉🙏👍👍👍
Ma'am your videos are always been amazing and i took help through your videos whenever i trapped while doing my assignments, thank you so much ma'am for all the videos.....but now as my illustration is not so good so am requesting you to make a video upon how can i give proper fall to my illustration garments while making collections so that it's looks like realistic fall and pleat.💫😊😊🌈
hi, I'm cordkarl (IG). I'm an upcoming illustrator and have been learning series of methods and ways to be a successful one. Thank you for helping me out,I love you ❤️❤️❤️. To my question and what's been worrying me for so long. I want to be a well known designer and illustrator but I'm scared of the outcome and how people that rush into designing rush back. Yes, I'm not yet good in my pattern and sewing but proud that I'm OK with my illustration. Right now I'm a facilitator teaching student here in Nigeria illustration. To cut my story short, how can I be a successful illustrator and a designer at the same time. Thank you and God bless your hand, brain ,mouth every part dear. Continue to shine
This is in perfect timing! I'm working on my final collection rn and needed to see this so bad! I have a whole year to plan but that's cool I can make more collections for practice 😄👏👏 Also Zoe what do you think about the Dolce Gabbana China catastrophe? It was pretty bold of China to step up to them. I'd love to hear what you have to say.
Someone made a joke that D&G now stands for "dead and gone" and I laughed my ass off. Chinese retailers are pulling D&G off shelves and Asian shoppers around the world are pressuring non-Chinese retailers to do the same and THAT'S HOW RACISTS SHOULD BE TREATED.
I love your drawing method. I’m stuck between deciding on fashion merchandising which I haven’t had luck landing a job for some years and thinking I should try designing. Of course photoshop and illustrator skills will be useful. This is giving me more confidence but feel pressure of what the job entails daily. Sure it would be fun and love fabrics. Measurements for each body type would be a challenge but experience as I go will help I’m sure. Merchandising is data driven less creative, seems unpromising to get to buying level. Please responses would help.
thankyou so much for this video, Zoe. I'm about to continue my study as a fashion student and I learned something new because of you, may I know where do you buy the translucent paper sketchbook? I cant find it anywhere, thank you again, Zoe ❤️
I never went to fashion school but I own a fashion line. Your videos teach me a lot. I just wanted to ask, how you can design a collection based on the fabrics you already have. For me, I travel out to buy fabrics, sometimes i am limited, i dont get my own prints made, i buy whats available. I would like to know how in my situation i can successfully design and collection based on the fabrics and accessories i have in hand.
Hey Zoe, may I know what kind of paper you use for sketching? It looks so much easier to trance the figure! I need it because I’m very bad at sketching out a human figure 😓😅
I think the diamond quilting pattern isn’t a good choice for a parka. Especially if it’s down-filled. Most diamond quilted parkas that I have encountered tend to have down seepage issues. I don’t know if it’s the manufacturers or the design itself. A great example is one of Canada Goose’s women’s parkas. I think they even stopped making it, just can’t remember that name
Hi Zoe!! I’m a design student in LA and I was taught in my sketching class that recruiters don’t want to see you get inspiration from existing clothing. I wanted to design clothes sort of 80s inspired and I brought in a bunch of inspo photos of “80s” signature designs and my teacher didn’t allow me to use those for my mood board... I don’t know I’m just confused...
The examples I showed in this video were about mood and personality of the stylish grandmas and grandpas--their attitude, the posture, the way they mix colors, prints, textures, accessories together, not really individual pieces of clothing. With the parka and the floral pants, I started there as a teaching tool because many students want to see the literal transformation. Your 80s project should capture the lifestyle and attitude of the 80s, not just oversize tees and gold chains.
I am an Indian fashion design student. The program is almost the same. I have my jury coming up. And im.planning on making a 3 garment collection inspired from traffic culture. Should i add something for jury??
Give this video a thumbs if you learned something new! Let me know if you want more design process tips and tricks videos!
Zoe Hong yes please ! I learned so much from this video.
Zoe please do another video like this
It would be cool if you could do a video on how to make interesting designs, rather than designs that we have all seen again and again.
yes, exploring all your optiions is such a great tip :)
What that piece of paper you are using for the sketches
"If your first one sucks you're right on track" is something I needed to hear
Good luck with your work!
excuse me its actually #ifyourfirstonesucksyoureontherighttrack
Thank you. I feel like I'm getting a thorough fashion design education completely free on RUclips.

Zoe Hong Thank you for your response!! Looking forward :)

Could you please do a video on tips and tricks when designing costumes for a play?
I really need the advice....
Please
It would also be amazing if you could do it taking into consideration I’m still in middle school ❤️
No, I'm not a costume designer so I don't have practical advice.
Zoe Hong thanks though!
I'm trying to get a costume designer in the studio for an interview. Wish me luck!
this taught me more than what our professor teaches us lmao
Great
hello zoe, i have a question is it okay to draw under someone template, i mean a template that we found on pinterest or another media, is it okay?
If you're designing, that's fine. If you're selling fashion illustrations, no.
I love your laugh ❤
Thanks! I get that a lot on the channel, which is always a surprise to me.
hey ! this is such a good video - just wondering what pencil you are using :)
Please do more videos like this
very nice

I want to ask. How do you make sure that your design will look like the way you vision? It difficult for me to understand 😓
