I have a 2005 Turbo S tiptronic. This was very helpful, and I agree much different than all the other service videos and instructions I found online.
My car has 35,000 miles. Not driven hard. 17 years with same fluid, I’m debating doing mine!

Thank you very much for your encouragement! I have a 996.1TT and shied away from it, as I don't have a jack and was not looking forward to flooding the place with ATF. But you make it look quite doable! A little courageous to crawl under the car with just these Quickjacks?

Yes, it's not as difficult as I imagined. The Quick Jack system is very stable. I have no reservations about crawling under the car when lifted with them

Chris, can you give the dimensions of the thread used on the fill tool? A quick check is the spanner size used on the union nut of the tool. Thank you.

Chris - question. Did you leave the trigger on the pump or remove it and just use the pump pressure to add fluid. Thank you!

I left the trigger on. When the system is full it starts coming out the top hole and if you don't have a way to stop the fluid you have a mess. So you shut off the trigger and relieve pressure on the pump bottle. Hope it works out OK for you

Have you considered a flush? It costs ca 400-500 bucks, but I don't like the idea of driving around with that old fluid for ever. Of course it may not be worth to everyone, depending on how beat up the car is in general etc

Hi Chris, Thank you for the video. The most helpful video for me. Been watching your video several times and today, finally changed my ATF on my 997.1 Tip. I have a question - do you top the ATF with the engine running? I tried to top if with engine running and I couldn't push the fluids into the filler port. My pump gave way and all the fluid leaking out from hoses and hand pump. I could only top up the ATF when the engine was off.

Yes top it off while running. Glad I was able to help

Porsche maintenance suggests servicing the transmission at 90,000 miles. There were no indications of problems, just felt it was something that should be done at that mileage
