Do not question why the new Honda Hornet is so cheap question but why the competition are so expensive. The British public have been mugged off for far too long. I thank Honda for manufacturing a quality bike at a realistic price.
Old comment but this is 100% what I've been saying for a long time. Also, 7k is nothing that just grows on trees. Bike prices are so over the top the last 10-15 years and we got used to it.
So disappointed that Honda didn't apply their neo retro styling to this bike, it just looks so dull and generic. Fantastic engine, great price, good tech and meh looks
I was thinking of buying a Hornet as my commuter so took one for a demo ride and was really impressed, it's so much more than a commuter, IMO it was like an MT-07 that handles and is laden with electronic goodies, it's not quite up to the Trident's finish but still very good, undoubtedly the bargain of the century.
I went to the local Honda dealership yesterday and they had 2 Hornets, the black and red, and the white and red, and both were marked as sold. When I first saw the pictures online, I thought that it looked horrible but once I saw it live, I thought it really is a fine looking machine actually. Still prefer the CB650R look over iy though, it's what I actually ended up ordering. Thanks for the review Dan! 🖖
Awesome! Unfortunately we don’t have these in Canada and won’t get them for a while. So I just put a deposit on a 23 CB650R. It will be here in 3 weeks can’t wait!
yeah the looks are downer for me as well. I have 2019 cbr 650r and man that machine looks proper aggresive and sexy even at a standstill. But if honda made those same hornet specs onto styling of cbr or cb neo sport cafe styling - man I would buy one right now...
Was really looking forward to your take on this bike, and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic stuff, Dan! :D Hopefully don't have to wait for the follow-up video... ;) It would be cool if you did a comparison with the CB650R (I think a lot of people would like to hear your thoughts on that). Awesome video, cheers! :)
I’d love to hear more about how this compares, on the road, to the 650 bikes. I was pretty sold on the 650r, but this seems a bit better for the street and normal highway riding. I’m looking forward to the in depth review!
I'd say the inline4 is better for highway riding. It really depends on style preference I think. On one hand you have a 180 rear wheel and the retro looks, on the other you have a 160 rear wheel, modern edgy looks and a butt ton of tech which I wished Honda put in their 650. And hopefully the 650 lasts another year or so, and that the black (cbr) version doesn't get a retarded blue paint job on the tank so i can get one with no icks in the back of my head.
@@silversurfer4326 for most road riders in this category of bikes, twin cylinder is probably better a lot of the time. Something I'd really like to see from Honda, is for them to take on the new Kawasaki Zx4rr. It would be awesome to see the CBR400 or VFR/RVF400 remade to the highest standard of today!!!! Only rumour I've heard is that Yamaha are working on an R4.
Got mine last week in the same colour as the one you’re riding and doesn’t it put a big smile on your face. Personally I love the looks and the frame colour but, I must agree I do find the throttle a bit snatchy at low speed, which you adapt to after a while. Great review Dan.
Well, spot on. Got mine two weeks ago but we got blessed with a good snow, and riding in sub zero is a no no for me. Love the bike. Great punch, dash is great, suspension is great, videos REALLY do not do the exhaust ANY justice. The exhaust note is SO good. Honestly, why the hate on the looks..? Yea it's not intimidating and flashy, but i love that. Well, the police here love that lol. My only problem is that it gets dirty só fast. Might be because its black
I test rode this and it was great fun. It sounds amazing, loads of torque and brilliant in all ways but one - the size. It is made for smaller humans. I’m 5’11, 32 leg and there was no room to move around and it felt like my heels were up by my arse. Gutted I would have bought one otherwise
An exciting Honda that’s not a fireblade! About time. Great video I appreciate the effort. I am so tempted to get one of these! Fun and a Honda that fits a smaller guy.. sounds perfect.
Before you do... try get a 2004/05/06 model.... a far better build (if it's been looked after) as well as a true 4 cylinder carb'd Hornet. (Plus USD forks too) Or look at the CB900F Hornet.
@@N269 My first big motorbike was a CB600F 2004 model (second hand). In summary: It was just a basic bike with cheap suspension, heavy weight and high fuel consumption for its ccm (also no fuel gauge). Needed high revs to make sense. If you like time travel and want to go back to the motorcycle iron age, go for it. Nowadays, you can get better bikes for your money. And the new Hornet is definitely one of them. It's not how many cylinders a bike has, but if the whole package is well trimmed.
@@vasiliyt8600 Agreed that the efficiency is getting better. However, I disagree that the new TWIN (not inline 4) is NOT a Hornet.... That is my argument with Honda. Personaly, I have a CB600F-6 (and cb900F-5s) that have some mods - rear and front suspnsion, steeirng damper and after market exhaust. (Tail tidy etc with alternate discs, sperockets.... etc)... but still have the ORIGINAL engine/forks/wheels/electronics. It's beautiful.... not like the bastardized version Honda called Hornet 2007->now. Why dont' they call is a "Wasp"?? Or something to promote a new "breed"? This new one should just be called a CB750. Sorry, I can't identify the 2007->present "hornet" as a proper Hornet. Honda market these based on the originals... but Honda can do what they want to get your $$ Don't get me wrong. I really like Honda. I'll always prefer H over Y/K/S/HD(duhhh)/KTM etc, but I'm unmovable on my statement that the 2007-> present bike, that Honda call Hornet, should not have the name Hornet.
@@N269 Right now I ride my fully rebuild Hornet CB600f '05. Done everything you did and maybe more. Got a 45T rear sprocket with 15T front one. It feels alot better, but still not possible, to ride in the fun RPM range anywhere on open road (aside from the autobahn here in Germany). I'm glad to get a twin tbh, as I will not ride it on the track, but twisty roads and some 3-4 day touring.
The engine is a "Unicam" engine, presumably a single overhead cam operating both intake and exhaust valves. Not quite the same as a typical DOHC setup. I'm really liking this "more than a 650cc, less than a 850cc" class of twins, which also offer "more than a 650" in terms of the bones, with USD forks and radial brakes and a better chassis that can deal with a higher pace. And the prices are spot on.
Honda refuses to sell them in America. Not realizing that the is a BIG market for them here. I would be all over this great bike and I have read many others would be also, even though I own a one of a kind type Honda CTX 1300, 2014. Made one year, awesome power, reliability, handling, comfortability, mileage. Almost has it all.
Great review as always Dan. That bike is bladdy amazing for the price. You get so much for the money. It does look like the CB500F's bigger brother but I can live with that. I still think the CB650R is one of the best looking/sounding bikes. I am not sure what one I would choose as they both ride differently. I am a sucker for a inline 4 though! I am very surprised by that PT engine though. Punchy and it goes :) carnt wait for the next review. Have a good weekend sir.
This bike would be amazing it they just styled it after the Grom and called it Grom750. Cruise control would be nice too, I don’t understand bikes that have throttle by wire and no cruise control (my bike included).
I'm glad Honda finally built this engine (long overdue) but i feel like it belongs in CB650R. The Hornet looks more like it should have an inline 4 and CB650R/CB1000R need a punchy parallel twin with a 270 crank.
I'm ok with then looks. If it looked more agressive/sportier then people would expect it to have 150hp nowadays. Anyway, I got a new cb900fa 42 years ago - even in the blue shared, along with styling, the cb250n, cb400n and cb750fa. And I loved it for that under the radar look.
Dan, you provided awesome videos, and I feel most comments are spot on. I am looking forward to the follow-up. Hope this bike makes it to the US. You guys are fortunate to have access to new bikes & such great dealerships. I really appreciate your channel. Bought a 2022 cb500x after watching your review!
I upgraded from CB500F to CB750 Hornet a month ago and I'm really happy with it. What this bike offer is very good for the price, when you buy it, definitely get a quickshifter installed, it will make you love the bike more :D
I wish they would design it in a Neo Sport Cafe style to replace the CB650R. I like everything about the CB650R, but hate the 4-cylinder for its stupid weight. A bike with CB650R appearance and CB750 engine will be a must buy for me.
That parallel twin is the most welcoming thing but they should've used a round headlight cluster and a shorter tail section. Yes it would look more like the CB650r NSC but wouldn't that be better? What was honda thinking?
I actually really like the current cb500f design and an surprized that they went with the older cb500f design (because my 2018 cb500f looks almost exactly like the hornet). I just hope they bring out a nice cbr750r, and have the 650r on sale in parallel so I can test both and decide what to upgrade to haha
@@Daniel-dj7fh there will be a cbr7XXrr.. but it won't have the same engine as this. they will most probably bore out the 650r engine and tune it to it's maximum potential. i do like the current cb500r as well, but honda tricked us with the radical hornet concept which is shameful. knowing honda, i knew they won't make anything that radical but it's still just lazy cost cutting measure.
@@cripticdestiny I really don't think they'll do anything to the 650. I don't even think it will be continued once the 750r comes. The 650 is not designed for high hp, and if you look at what Yamaha is doing the a cbr750r would be the biggest slap in the face for the R7, they only need to design it right.
@@Daniel-dj7fh lets see what happens. i said 7XX because it'll be easier for honda to bore out the 650cc motor to 700cc. and swapping in and out/ slightly redesigning crank/cam/valves in an existing motor for more performance will reduce R&D cost for them. i'm 70% sure it's not gonna be a P twin 750. but rather a an inline four 700.
It hasn’t got a snatchy throttle. It has a very direct, aggressive throttle but if you finesse it, it’s as smooth as you could wish. It is not a great bike for the price, it is just a great fun bike that happens to be a bit or a bargain
@@Englishbikerdan It has a snatchy throttle and that is all thanks to Euro5. The bike runs crazy lean at lower RPMs and is in dire need of a ECU retune. Honda could fix the snatchynes, but that would cost power. A custom ECU tune, with some little intake modifications and a new can, will push the bike to a butter smooth throttle and nearly 100HP. Only thing you have to to in germany, where I live, is to retune the ECU for the TüV every 2 years, of buy a second ECU and leave it original. Both can be done in a few minutes tho, as tuning an ECU is nothing special anymore.
The quickshifter can't be described as "one thing", but rather something that can be set to preference. You can set it to be better at low RPM, keep it in the middle, or set it for higher rev performance!
@Englishbikerdan Ah, not like mine, that has a shift point range as well as mechanical hard soft and false trigger sensors / locking outside of optimal rev ranges 😀
I cant really get the quickshifter to be as smooth as it should be. Downshifts are absolutly perfect. I mean truely, with closed throttle, the downshifts are orgasmic. The upshits are jerky with me. On all three settings. But this ís my first time riding with a quickshifter, so i might just have to learn how to use it better
Looking at older bikes, their speedos and rev counters either work ok, or can be fixed or swapped for used ones. I wonder how many of these TFT screens are going to still work when the bikes are forty years old, and how easy they'll be to fix.
Needs a full exhaust and a tune to open it up for sure knowing how conservative bikes are these days with restrictions, definitely curious to see how it compares to the MT07.
Just going off memory, I think it’s sitting directly between the MT-07 and 09 as far as power is concerned. I’d assume torque is a similar story. There’s also a good bit of shared styling with the 2018 MT-07, and the 270° crank definitely won’t hurt sales. Not sure how the rest of the package compares, but with those numbers and a slightly lower MSRP than the MT-07, I’d be shocked if Honda doesn’t catch a decent share of would-be MT buyers.
The can isn't even the problem, but the EURO5 standart. Bike runs lean AF till 6kish RPM. That makes the throttle quite snatchy. Honda could fix it, but would loose on power. After marked ECU flash for the win . . . again.
in brazil the hornet is VERY popular, mostly for the sound of 4c engine, when was announced the new one and it has an 2c engine everyone in brazil was soo desapointed.
I am fairly confident there will be a cl750 and a cbr750r before long. The engine seems great for all purposes across the board. Great to see Suzuki also joining the modern mid-sized fight. Only Kawasaki that is really lagging behind now with their unfortunately dull 650 engine.
Dan , you are the right person to ask considering you owned an MT-07 . which of the two has a funnier n better engine (torquier , better sound , general response on the road...) I was so sure about my next buy -MT07- and now this one got me confused.. As for the price , in my country (Greece) the Hornet is actually a bit more expensive 650euros more than the MT .
Mate you write like you have an accent :D Is your s key broken? I'd pay 650€ more to have the twitchy throttle response fixed in-house already to be honest - but, the bottom line, as always, is you should try before you buy and see for yourself.
I owned an MT07 for a year and a half, it wasn't my first pick for the bike I wanted but I enjoyed it nevertheless. It was a great overall experience, but I didn't feel sad about selling it. The one thing you miss out on with the MT07 is electronics, it has absolutely none, which was perfectly fine for me as it was my first bike, but I wouldn't buy it again while this bike exists. Just my 2 cents. Keep in mind, you CAN adjust the engine braking on the Hornet which largely negates the throttle jerk, but you can't on the MT07 and its known for it. I would highly encourage you to take the hornet, as someone who's owned one. Get the extra cash and get the better bike.
Why are people so caught up in the styling? This bike looks spectacular. Factor in tech, engine and what it cost. It's a win no matter how you look at it.
Why are you so caught up with people being caught up in the styling? Why am I so caught up with you being caught up with people being caught up in the styling?
Because it is Honda and people love tohold top brands like Honda, Yamaha and BMW to higher standarts and bash them w/o any reason. At the same time, they get tight pants with the release of the GSX8R. SMH
Hey Dan. Another Great video... been looking at this bike and considering it.... For me its between the 750 Hornet, Triumph Trident or the CB1000R... I know the last one is a different level its the best looking in my opinion. But those are the three I'm considering Can't make up my mind to be honest..... Just curious btw what audio setup do you have when your doing your POV rides?
Yes great bike and great value for money too! Was planning on buying one but as you said the will sell bucketloads of these and they do, i wanted the white and had to wait pretty much till after the summer... Sooo I ended up with a two year old KTM Duke 790 ;-) ah not too shabby either lol
The 790 is a cracking bike (I have a 2019 I've owned from new) .... this Hornet doesn't offer quite as much but is nipping at it's heels for sure and the price is outstanding ... £1,300 less than I paid for my 790 - but that did come with the full electronics suite all included. The Hornet is gonna be a popular bike and quite a common sight on the roads 😉
@@MotoGoato yes agreed I just couldn’t wait until later this year so far very happy with my 790 mine is also loaded with all options but I agree the hornet is a winner
Hello I am between hornet 750 nx500 and nc750x probably dct . My use it’s everyday commuting and touring on backroads and highway too. And cross country travel. What do you think suits me better ? Thank you in advance
how is vibration at the handle bars, seat and foot pegs? I currently own 2019 ninja 650 which I love but I hate the vibrations that makes my hands go numb maybe I’ll upgrade to Hornet in couple years when people will start selling these bikes used
I'm sure it's a great bike, but I just can't get excited about parallel twin engines. They just seem, agricultural, to me. I know why they use them. They are more compact so are easier for packaging and are cheaper to make than inline fours (or threes). But it just seems to take away such a big part of riding a bike, the exhilarating sound of the engine and exhaust while you are riding.
With a 270 degree crank it's the opposite for me. The sound is almost as good as a proper VTwin and the power delivery is something else. But we all like what we like! Cheers!
It's pretty much that yes. Man if Honda put a 270° in the 500, I'd have a way easier time deciding what bike I want to upgrade from my cb500f. Right now it's ZX4r, Cbr650r, r7 or potentially the cbr750r (if it comes), but I don't know if I can use the extra power from my 48hp atm..
Just had this bike, i want to use to do wheelies but one think is terrible and very disappointing : When you set traction control to 0, it will reset to 1 everytime you start the bike… 😢
As a utilitatrian do it all bike with abit of a hooligan side, it's actually very good. Everything you need. Nothing you don't. I appreciate why they've fitted a 160 rear but it makes it look like a 500. Should of gone with a 180
Awesome Bike and a great review! I think Honda have kept the Hornet bloodline as it still has a sting in it's tail! I think this would make an excellent second bike for those of us that ride big touring machines? Looking forward to more reviews. Nice work 🤩
you did say in the beginning that the throttle was snatchy if you have it in sports mode it will be very responsive and feel better :) ride safe bro and I loved the video thank you for the review
It looks like the cb500f but sounds maybe abit better would have been a better description. It really depends what you want, if you're looking for more power than what your 300 offers this might be interesting, but at the same time you could also just get the cb650r which is your bike with a nicer engine.
@@Daniel-dj7fh it's a shame they never did a cb500r, I did think about the 650r but my last bike was a street triple before the 300 and I don't need or want that much power anymore, have been tempted though with a xsr700, a bit more up my street.
@@The1977andi the biggest bike I've ridden is a 650 too, but I have no need of more power than what my 500 gives. I just want styling and a nicer engine note. The cbr500r would do the styling bit, but a cp2 or inline4 sounds considerably better.
@@The1977andi a bit like you i have an old 955 Triumph which sounds great but i want something lighter/easier to manage and am willing to come down on power but hopefully retain bottom end torque. I am taller than Dan so may be uncomfortable on this. Dan seems to make almost anything fly whatever the cc.
After looking at the triumph line, you can really tell just the external difference in quality from the hornet to triumph. The triumph all around looks tighter.
I hereby find you guilty my man for making me change my mind from wanting a white Hornet, to wanting a yellow one! :) Choice aside, great review ;) I'll be ordering mine tomorrow to receive it in 1-2 days.
I will get a grey one, just to paint it white tho. I just don't like the red frame and fork. Also, I'm not so sure as to how long the red will stay red. UV light from the sun is a nasty thing, when it comes to red parts. I've also seen a grey one with neon yellow/green_ish painted wheels and sticker kit, that looked really sick and way more aggressive.
I would mention the Aprilia Shiver 750 as a direct competitor to this bike, as they're designed pretty much identically, only the aprilia has a real V-twin engine in it instead of a crossplane parallel. The spread out pistons give the italian a bigger bore, more horsepower & torque (95bhp, 81Nm), but with less fuel efficiency and low end power - it needs to be revved a little before it wakes up due to the short stroke nature of the crank, but then it goes like a rocket. Both also come equipped with various riding modes and ABS, the shiver 750 is an older model and probably cheaper to find these days than a new honda.
Bit late, but got round to watching it, looks quite good. Dont know if you're still round the same area, but Farnham honda have a yellow hornet to look at, more importantly though, they have a demo bike, in white, with the optional SC Project exhaust fitted to it. I dont suppose you'd maybe borrow it to do a sound comparison?
Oh god, they switched positions on the horn and indicators? Why do some manufacturers do this? So you can angrily turn off your indicator when someone cuts you off? For the rest though, I really loved the previous hornet back when it was still an inline-4, had it as a temp when my sp-1 was being serviced and I was honestly surprised. The fact that it's now a parallel twin it is arguably even more interesting, especially with 755cc. Really enjoyed your enthusiasm in this vid, much love.
100% agree. I have the Africa Twin and could have been killed when a car driver changed lanes and I cancelled the indicators really hard. It’s dangerous. Because when instinct kicks in, you default to the standard position.
Well done Honda, the hornet is all I'd ever NEED.. 270 firing order, peppy, enough rider aids, lightish and a bargain too...if I needed to commute. But I've traded in perfectly good, sensible bikes that tick my boxes too 'cos they don't make me WANT to ride em when I dont need to. So, a great commuter but not a sunny sunday feel good bike based on looks. The Speed Twin/XSR900 in legend blue will probably get my cash or if I am feeling brave (on reliability) a Duke 890. Its test ride season soon.😊
Quite agree with you on the look of the hornet Dan. But Honda management might have the cost reductions in mind, lol. Starting to feel the headlight is becoming the norm. It's the same light(?) on CB500X, NC750X and now the new Hornet. Definitely similar to my NC750X. Congrats on the sponsorship! Your works on the channel have been noticed now.
As someone who owns an 04 hornet 599 the cb1000r or 650r are way closer to what the original bike is. not a bad thing that its different just confused why they decided to reuse the name.
Nice bike for sure .... Honda will sell boat loads of these!! They've been really aggressive with the pricing .... I'd say the Hornet sits right in between the MT07 and the 790 Duke ... it offers more than an MT07 and not quite as much as the 790 ... but it's cheaper than both!!! Thats a 2 wheeled bargain right there 😉
@@SirMountainpass funnily enough my 790 did admittedly have a few annoying little issues in the first couple of years (which were all sorted under warranty no bother) ... but importantly it's never yet let me down and left me stranded at the side of the road ... 2 of my 3 previous Hondas did though (and a Suzuki) 🤷♂

Its cheaper than the SV650, GSX-8S, MT-07 and Trident 660 while having more power than all of them, it's closer to the RS660 in power for 2k less. Only the Z650 is cheaper, and frankly that bike is a class below in performance. Honda are wizards.

Because of the black paint* oops, that sounded a bit off haha
How is the quickshifter for you, granted you have one? Upshifts are, well, jerky at best for me. Down is perfect.
I got the white one,,so much better in the flesh and riding it is a blast
@@acvn-hg9gy Love my quick shifter I have it in the soft setting, so nice and slick up and down.
This is the first I've even heard of the Hornet and I can't wait to see more of your videos about it!
Honda market these based on the originals... but Honda can do what they want to get your $$
Don't get me wrong. I really like Honda. I'll always prefer H over Y/K/S/HD(duhhh)/KTM etc, but I'm unmovable on my statement that the 2007-> present bike, that Honda call Hornet, should not have the name Hornet.
@@N269 Twins are better on the road than inline fours. Way more accessible torque.
Excellent review. They got everything right but the styling.
In your opinion.
@@ziondanny7081 yes. Also, the Pope is Catholic. Your turn to make a pointless statement of the obvious.
yep, have to totally agree
I agree, especially for the front light
the front headlight and the swingarm are the main problems I suppose.
Really liking the Hornet. Looks so good! Bet it's fun to ride! Will definitely see if I can ride one as well!
Can’t make myself like that headlight. Nice vid as always
@@cripticdestiny that's gonna cost so much money, money they didn't spend on making the cbr600rr euro5 complaint. Because the bike still exists
Great review! Waiting for my white cb750 coming next week. Believe the yellow and white are the nicest colors on this.
It hasn’t got a snatchy throttle. It has a very direct, aggressive throttle but if you finesse it, it’s as smooth as you could wish. It is not a great bike for the price, it is just a great fun bike that happens to be a bit or a bargain
Disagree. I stand by my opinion.
The settings don't relate to where the QS works in the rev range. It's just how hard/soft the changes happen (basically how it cuts the ignition).
Yeah, not that smooth on this one either. It's better at higher rpm and 2nd gear onwwards.
@@Englishbikerdan yea, spot on. It will find neutral when you use it between 1 and 2 sometimes aswell
Looking at older bikes, their speedos and rev counters either work ok, or can be fixed or swapped for used ones. I wonder how many of these TFT screens are going to still work when the bikes are forty years old, and how easy they'll be to fix.
An interesting point.
It's really just a CB750F but Honda have called it a Hornet so that it would appeal to more buyers. The CB650R should have been the Hornet
Needs a full exhaust and a tune to open it up for sure knowing how conservative bikes are these days with restrictions, definitely curious to see how it compares to the MT07.
Likewise. Will it dethrone my wonderful mt07?? 😢😢
Simple thing, but I heard there are no bobbin screw holes on swingarm, little point but I always put my bike on the paddock stand
i would take retro version of that with round headlight
But my heart still lusts after a triumph 765 and the triple cylinder sound……….😊
But this hornet is still a great bike (esp for the price)
Me too!
Very nice review. Nice bike. Its the first review where personal settings have been illustrated. I like the yellow version. Thank you.
Looking forward to this one

Nice breakie at Blackbushe. Nice Hornet spec.
Strewth that engine note is great.
Dan , you are the right person to ask considering you owned an MT-07 . which of the two has a funnier n better engine (torquier , better sound , general response on the road...)
I was so sure about my next buy -MT07- and now this one got me confused..
The MT07 is a fab engine and surprisingly torquey - but I think the Honda is the winner here with more HP for less money (at least here in the UK)
I'm getting a newer MT07 to test in April, I will report back once I've ridden it. Thanks!
Why are people so caught up in the styling? This bike looks spectacular. Factor in tech, engine and what it cost. It's a win no matter how you look at it.
Why are you so caught up with people being caught up in the styling?
Why am I so caught up with you being caught up with people being caught up in the styling?
They've got to remember it's £6999. Lot of bike for the money
Because it is Honda and people love tohold top brands like Honda, Yamaha and BMW to higher standarts and bash them w/o any reason. At the same time, they get tight pants with the release of the GSX8R. SMH
its about time honda makes a bike with good color scheme!!!!!!!! hopefullt itll come to us soon
Hi Dan! Great to see you filming at Blackbushe! I hope you come along there to our Wednesday lunchtime meetings! 🙏
How could they go from a beautiful honda CB 650 r to this ??
I like this bike. Nothing wrong with its physics, it's just more common which is not bad compared to cyborg look of others....
Colour is FIRE!
I want this hooligan. HONDA is No.1
Dan do you wear standard jeans or proper riding jeans with protection? Thanks. Where do you pick up your riding gear? Love it
Yes great bike and great value for money too!

Thanks for the test, sounds like you were having a blast. I'll take mine in iridium grey or yellow
how is vibration at the handle bars, seat and foot pegs?
I currently own 2019 ninja 650 which I love but I hate the vibrations that makes my hands go numb
maybe I’ll upgrade to Hornet in couple years when people will start selling these bikes used
Is this also available in America?
Looks performance reliability !!! Total package 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dan question about the indicator switch, with it being below the horn, does that mean there is nothing blocking either side of the switch?
I'm sure it's a great bike, but I just can't get excited about parallel twin engines. They just seem, agricultural, to me. I know why they use them. They are more compact so are easier for packaging and are cheaper to make than inline fours (or threes). But it just seems to take away such a big part of riding a bike, the exhilarating sound of the engine and exhaust while you are riding.
With a 270 degree crank it's the opposite for me. The sound is almost as good as a proper VTwin and the power delivery is something else. But we all like what we like! Cheers!
Would you take this over a 2023 cb650r? I was about to order a CB650R, but now thinking this tops it? Especially with the extra tech.
That's dependant on you mate. Ride both and get what speaks to you. Personally, I'd get the Hornet.
Niceeee bike, nice price...looks like the cb500f on stereoides 👍 the sound is so cool ✌️
Hi Dan. Nice review. Can I ask where you ride around? Your country roads look ideal!
Hi Thomas, thanks. I ride around Blackbushe/Winchfield in Surrey.
Just had this bike, i want to use to do wheelies but one think is terrible and very disappointing : When you set traction control to 0, it will reset to 1 everytime you start the bike… 😢
Honda made their own MT-07?
Isn't a 8valves Unicam? Not DOHC?
Good spot, it is. not easy remembering it all and nailing it while concentrating on riding.
As a utilitatrian do it all bike with abit of a hooligan side, it's actually very good. Everything you need. Nothing you don't. I appreciate why they've fitted a 160 rear but it makes it look like a 500. Should of gone with a 180
it looks exactly like my 500
but even my 500 does look like a full big bike if there is nothing with a 180 near by.
I actually like the 160. Turns in quicker and cheaper to replace!

Thanks mate!
Will you be getting on a 2023 KTM 790 Duke at some point by any chance? It is one of the competitors in this class afterall!
Would be great to see a comparison
Would love to see this engine in a cafe racer style bike. Like their Neo Cafe.

To all the people picking faults, it costs £6999. A lot of fun for the money
This is basically a Duke 790/890 Scalpel by KTM - but more reliable because Japan.
It's a shame the styling isn't better as I may have been tempted to trade in my cb300r , reminds me of a z650 but sounds a lot better.
Yep, can't argue with that.
I hereby find you guilty my man for making me change my mind from wanting a white Hornet, to wanting a yellow one! :) Choice aside, great review ;) I'll be ordering mine tomorrow to receive it in 1-2 days.
Yellow is the correct colour for a Hornet! :D
I wish I could buy this here in Canada. It’s not yet available if ever here😅
Do you have any plans on doing a new vid on the Kawazaki z650 2023 version? Otherwise great review!
Awesome video as always mate 😎 As other have already mentioned, a comparison video would be gr8: Hornet, Trident, CB650R, MT-07...
I don't compare new to older bikes. There's too many second hand bikes to choose from.
180 rear tire, lower front light cover, small wind screen.. and it would look so much better in my opinion.
It looks a bit dull I think
I want to know which is more fun this or a 790 duke 🤔
Pity for the front light. Something on the rounded side would have made this bike to look great
I don't think a round headlight would have fit to the rest of the bike.
@@Daniel-dj7fh you are probably right but there is something wrong with the actual one. It looks cheap and boring
@@Spacchio nah it looks good, they could have taken the shape of the 2022 cb500f instead of the 2018 one tho.
Hi mate, not really enough time during a demo to do a good sound comparison.
I’ve just bought one
I forgot to keep up the good work Dan, always nice to see someone riding on k
gnarly british roads who shares my inside leg. Keeps it real.
But it's only a twin!
I like the style of the bike. Thanks for a great first ride
Thats a 2 wheeled bargain right there 😉
I really don't know how Honda is gonna keep selling their cb500f, at just 1k more or something for so much more bike :0
Bingo! Good summary.
I would go for the Honda‘s reliability any day vs. the 790 Duke‘s 😎🏁🏁

This seems like extraordinary value considering it's the exact same price as the SV650.
