Thank you for sharing your insights. I have been intrigued by the juxtaposition of these parables in Matt. 25. Those -as you say- who are on the right hand (sheep) have used our talents to serve others according to the list given by the king & thus come to know Him by doing His works.
Many years ago, I served a French-speaking mission. In an effort to keep my language skills exercised, I would often repeat the Sacrament prayers in French as they were pronounced in English. Eventually, I was struck by the verb “to want” that had been utilized in the French version in place of the English “to be willing.” That seemed to me at the time to be a positive-that we WANTED to keep the commandments. However, not too many years ago, the French version was actually changed! It now reads “willing.” I think you are onto something profound! And it is somewhat comforting to me that I have often not “wanted” to do what Heavenly Father has asked of me, but hopefully I have been and will continue to be “willing.”
It’s not an easy thing to say that one has fatigue while waiting for the Savior. It is lovely to hear that we share this experience together. I never thought about the midnight hour. That things are dark. And they certainly are a bit on the dark side now. Thank you for your thoughts. Thank you for your careful research. Thank you for taking time to put this together and share it with us.
For years I have been struck by the word ‘willing’ and its importance to the Lord. When we take the sacrament we declare we are willing to take the Lords’ name upon us. In the Doctrine and Covenants, when talking about spiritual gifts, we are promised that they are available to all who obey Christ and to those ‘who seek so to do’. Willingness isn’t perfection, but it shows our fidelity to Christ while we wait for Him. There is another awesome talk that I love that explained the concept of ‘waiting’ in the context of a waiter in, say, a restaurant. He or she sees to the needs of others and serves. The ‘waiter’ is in active service of others. I thought that was an interesting take on that concept. Thank you for what you do. ♥️
This is just beautiful. How profound your words, "Willingness isn't perfection, but it shows our fidelity to Christ while we wait for Him." Thank you for you and for your words, Tammy. And yes to the concept of being actively engaged in service to others as we're waiting! So good!
Motions of a Hidden Fire by President Holland, "I bear witness that when Christ comes, He needs to recognize us-not as nominal members listed on a faded baptismal record but as thoroughly committed, faithfully believing, covenant-keeping disciples. This is an urgent matter for all of us, lest we ever hear with devastating regret: “I never knew you,” or, as Joseph Smith translated that phrase, “[You] never knew me.” Do we know the Lord and does He know us? The foolish, the fearful, the goats don't know the Lord even though they may even boast that 'they" have done everything. They may have but their hearts were and are not centered in Christ but in their own doings wanting the glory for themselves, instead of saying thy will be done and giving God the glory!
I like your lessons 🙂

Wow, great timing. I was just telling Heavenly Father that I was feeling discouraged and exhausted waiting for the second coming.
I'm so glad this was helpful, Cindy! I think there are so many here in this amazing, loving community who have felt the same way!
Great insights !! I don’t wanna be a goat 🐐!!!
