- We ride the all new Triumph TF 250-X, the worlds newest dirt bike! In this video we'll dive into the history of this iconic British motorcycle brand, we'll take a look at the deep racing history of Triumph, we'll talk to the team that brought this vision to reality, we'll ask why MX and why now, and of course we'll test the brand new machine and compare it not only to the competition of today but to machines from the past that may have influenced some of the design decisions on the fastest 250 four stroke on the market right now!

I toured the factory back in 1993 - it was as state of the art as it could be back then. Triumph was claiming a crankcase clearance of like 5 microns (I forget the actual number) and Porsche went ballistic claiming that tight of a clearance was impossible... until they were given a tour of the facility and shown the machinery. Triumph has spent a large fortune on making motorcycles - and I for one appreciate it...
So ya can say shes been Mic'd 😊
My feed has been flooded with Triumph test vids the past day, yours is by far my favourite Max.
I like even more so that you chose Jordan to interview with you, he's a great dude.
Can't wait to see these bikes on uk tracks.
Thanks for the kind words dude! :-D We worked extra hard to make sure this one was worthy of marking such a cool occasion for British motocross. JB is a legend, awesome style on the bike and a proper laugh off it! :-D
Is it better then an Rmz
Ricky talking about how the UK should be proud of this bike was heart warming. You couldn't find a better ambassador for the brand than that man. For the first iteration of an entirely new model, it's looking and sounding damn impressive.
Thanks for watching. Ricky is the man for sure.
Ricky Carmichael, what a legend!!! And that’s part of the bike being the Bees knees 😎🌪️👊❤️🇬🇧
100% legend
Well done max … I’ve watched your channel grow over a few years … as an ex moto guy 59 now but still love it… now a photographer… and just getting into video… I really appreciate your content and your video production…interesting and technically well made… it’s good to see you getting invited to exclusive events… keep up the good work 👏👏👏
Thanks so much for you kind words :-) We put in an extra effort on this one to mark such a cool occasion for British motocross! Thanks again Guy
I've watched lots of this bike review videos in the last 12 hours. Yours is by far my favourite. Good job dude ❤
Wow, thanks!
Awesome job Max! All that hard work has paid off and it's great to see you getting rewarded with gigs like this. Best review I've watched recently, must have been cool to speak with the goat and others. I hope they get some sales and racing success relatively soon to keep them producing more off road bikes.
Thanks Craig, I really appreciate your comment. It means a lot.
48 BHP from a 250 that's incredible. you can see it's got the response and power in the test ride.
It's a very potent motor, lots of holeshots coming Triumphs way i think!
Well done Max ,. . .what a well thought out , well equipped Motocross Bike the Triumph is .
What impressed me the most is Triumph has made a Bike that offers everything for the novice to the pro rider.
If I can put it this way , the rider is able to express themselves because the Bike is an extension of them , like a blank canvas in which the artist can work their magic relative to their ability.
You'll ride better, because you're riding a Bike that the manufacturer has addressed all the issues and given the rider the best of the best!
thanks for watching eden
Holy shit Max well done for getting a slot over there with the new Triumph! Epic !! 😮
thanks :)
That thing sounds like it's got some proper torque down low for a 250 you can actually hear it! what a first attempt from Triumph!
strength to strength this channel Max bet you wouldn't have thought you'd be chatting with RC 5 years ago hahah! wicked stuff!🍻
cheers :)
can't wait for the Enduro Version. Would be very interesting seeing it in Hard Conditions. would be also cool to get something like the recluse clutch as standard...
I don't think it will be long before the enduro version is here as they did talk about it. Thanks for watching :)
I have placed a deposit and will get my bike soon it arrives at the dealership, come to California let’s for to Glen Helen put some hours and feel this thing for real 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Watched a who's who of test riders pick that bike apart over the past 24 hours and look who got an invite! Great work Max, really appropriate you were there given your commitment to MX history and of course, being from the home of Triumph!
It was awesome to be involved and an honor to be invited, I wanted to make sure we made the best video possible to mark such a big occasion for our British MX community! :-)
and thanks for taking the time to watch Neil!
It looks mint, the fact the g.o.a.t has put his input on this bike is unreal!
I am very impressed and excited that Triumph managed to get such a good bike on their first attempt. Top pieces on the bike. No upgrades needed.
They've done an awesome job! Thanks for choosing to watch our test buddy :-)
What an incredible story. Congratulations Triumph on a great bike. Taking Ricky along the journey was the smartest thing ever.👏👏👏
Agreed, Ricky instantly adds so much credibility to the project! Thanks for watching dude :-)
First thing ive heard from anyone that isnt on the Triumph payroll! Proper that it comes from a Brit.
Congratualtions, Max! I hope I can demo one of these sometime. Cant wait to see them go up against the competition. Just the anticipation brings extra excitement to what is already the most exciting motorsport thats ever been.
Cheers, and enjoy your stay, Stateside
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch Dave :-)
Bro..I am so glad you guys were invited over to Georgia...to be part of the launch...always enjoy your channel
Thanks dude! :-)
Absolutely killed it with this video, love that you came to America
Thanks, Glad you enjoyed it :)
Even though I prefer 2 strokes I currently race a 23 KTM SX 250 pre-mix'r , 92 KTM mx 500 ( and yes a 21 Factory edition 450 k-toom ) i'm picking up my 24 Beta RX 300 this saturday Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap - but must say I have never been so excited for the industry in a long time , at 55 yrs old and racing since 1977 the starting gate reminds me of the late 70s early 80s with the big 4 , maico Husky KTM can-am , the rare bultaco now and then etc - must admit I was very delighted to see the Triumph debut , and very impressed - cannot wait to see one in person and give it a ride myself 😁 your video strengh is amazing here - have watched several test on the TF250 x and this by far is the best !!! 999 has brought the level of dirt bike videos to the highest level - thank you for all you do for our great sport - 110% perfect
Wow! That's quite the collection you've got Mike!
Thanks so much for you kind words, we worked really hard to make this video as cool as possible for such a special occasion for British and International motocross :-D
I'm a old 2 stroker also. Sure wish they came to the table then.. still exciting
This is awesome news, I'm so pleased to see triumph going all in on the dirt bike market and the bike looks and sounds the business, my first big bike was a triumph and I've always loved the brand and with further models coming down the line as well as enduro bikes it's just really good to see the brand reintroduced to a new generation of riders what's not to like well done and great video 🇬🇧 wicked atb Dave
Thanks for taking the time to watch Dave :-) i feel much the same about the project, it's exciting times for the off-road community!
Awesome video! Your channel is my new favorite motocross channel! You got a slot with the goat thats huge! It's a pleasure to watch your channel grow and get better and better! This video got me pumped im gona hop on my WR250R and go for a rip I'm so pumped! I have a triumph bonneville and cant wait to have my first triumph dirtbike! Great Job Max thanks for all the outstanding content!
Joshua, you legend! That comment has made my day :-D Thanks for watching dude and enjoy the ride
Superb job, YOUR BEST VIDEO YET, and all your videos are great!! You're living your "calling".
Thank you!
I want one already. The Engine Revved like a 2 Stroke. From what I was seeing, it looked very impressive. I’ll definitely be Saving up for one. Way to go Triumph.👍👍
Great to see a major manufacturer investing in our beloved sport. Having R.C. as a partner shows their dedication.
I totally agree. Ricky loves the brand and you could see what it meant to him being involved from day 1. Thanks for watching
Love Triumph had a job before high school graduation at a honda, bmw, moto guzzi, triumph dealer, worked there some 20 yrs, bought a ratty 70 Bonnie trade in for cheep for my retirement, well it's time to get started on it! This 250 is looking good, can't wait for a 450!
enjoy the Bonnie Frank & thanks for watching :)
Well done Max, excellent well put together and very informative. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kind words Brian :-) Glad you enjoyed the video!
For an outsider fan like myself, this was an excellent video to learn and celebrate with Triumph. Cheers!
Thanks for watching Tim! :-) As Triumph are new to the sport i wanted to tell their full story in this video as well as introduce the new bike, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
A fantastic video Max, thank you for the lowdown on the triumph, great interview with rc , hope you're enjoying the sun in Florida, its note but bloody rain in Derbyshire.
Thanks as always for the support Kevin! Weather was perfect over there, just landed back home and it's miserable already! lol
Great video! I've really been enjoying your channel and just wanted to give you some props!
I appreciate that Patrick :)
Amazing video max ! What a machine. Me and the Mrs love your videos but that was an absolute banger. You looked proper pumped after riding that. Great work mate ❤🤟
Thanks Paddy
Another great video Max. Always had a soft spot for Triumph, owned a 650 Bonneville when I was in grade 12. If Honda could go from zero to hero with the 73 Elsinore, there is no reason why Triumph can't repeat history. They have had a lot of input from some of the best riders [RC], Ivan, etc in the business. I wish Triumph all the success possible.
It's definitely possible, especially if they can crack the American market like Honda did with the Elsinore
WOW WHAT A FANTASTIC VIDEO , VERY INFORMATIVE FROM THE HISTORY,DEVELOPMENT,RIDING EXPERIENCE & FEED BACK . SOME PEOPLE DONT REALISE HOW TECHNICALLY ADVANCED THIS ENGLISH FIRM ARE . WELL DONE 999 LAZER ,KEEP THIESE 1ST CLASS COMING
Thanks for watching Jeremy! We'll keep the videos coming :-D
So happy for you! You earned this!
Thanks
Nice job max, about time we have something to be proud of 🇬🇧 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thanks for watching as always tess :-)
Back in the 70s my dad was ripping triumphs in dirt track races in hare scrambles and him and his crew build them custom
sounds awesome, thanks for watching
Another great video Max, good work mate 🤙
Thanks 👍
Hope they bring a 450 motard out too. Very well executed bike. Great work triumph
Great video. Really appreciated the Triumph history lesson too.
Thanks Derek, Glad you enjoyed it!
Might as well include 999lazer into the list of heavy hitter journalists in Moto. Nice. Keep them coming.
haha It was an honor to be invited over and to ride with such cool people! Thanks for watching Kevin :-)
Great video I'm a triumph owner and fan through and through, MX looks mega and cant wait for the enduro versions to come out as that is what I will be buying to go in my garage with my other Triumph's.
The enduro version wont be long. thanks for watching :)
It’s nice to see you on this side of the pond. Hopefully you enjoyed it and the bike looks amazing.
It was an amazing time, very jealous of the space and the tracks you guys have! Thanks for watching dude :-)
Top review Max! Next stop Ducati and then back to ride the 450 Trumpet. A busy and great MX job huh!👏🙌
Thanks Guy! :-) When we were talking about this bike last year, I didn't think it would lead to Gatorback cycle park! haha Thanks for the support as always buddy
Well done Max. Getting that gig to ride the 250 in Florida is awesome mate.
Great showing the history of the bike
I’m probably in a minority of one, but I really liked that Cannondale motor. I tried buying one at the time.
That 2024 250 looks mint
Continued success building The Channel.
Perret didn’t get a mention, then, for his epic ride at the Ford track on that pre ( historic, Jurassic even) Triumph 😉
Too much history drivel get to the damn bike
Actually triumph has some history in mx. When bsa merged with triumph bsa already had won the 500cc mx world championship twice with Jeff Smith riding a 441 victor. When bsa folded leaving triumph alone and still selling re badged. Bsa singles as triumph’s. The b50 mx became the tr5 mx in 1973. It was actually a pretty competitive mx bike. I can say that because in 1992 I got a basket case 1971 triumph tr25 trailblazer enduro. I assembled it turning it out into a b50 mx copy. It came with a 441 victor engine instead of the 250 star fire engine. I actually won the 1994 ama district 38 desert vintage class championship on it. So technically triumph did sell a motocross bike in 1973/1974. The triumph tr5 mx.
Thanks for sharing David, that's really interesting. Cheers Max
I asked for this max! U smashed it!!
Haha thanks, I told you to watch this space :)
Love detailed information about triumph. Great vids 🤙
Thanks :)
Looks to be a fine piece of machinery. I'd like to wish Triumph all the best going forward.
Great job on bringing us this new machine.
Thanks for watching Eric:)
amazing video as always, so sick to see the triumph fully finished after all their teaser vids
Thanks for watching, appreciate your comment :)
Best test video going
Smashed it Max
🇬🇧
Thanks dude :-D We put a lot of thought into this one to mark such a special occasion for British Motocross
Hands down the best triumph review out! Holy shit that’s so awesome you got the invite. Triumph has a hell of a marketing team. Using RUclipsrs to get the message out and immediately entering sx the first year. We wanna see another bradshaw vs mike brown but on triumphs this time since brownie is with triumph now!
Thanks, We'll let them know and tell them to make that happen :)
@@999lazer well while your at let’s go ahead and make it vet mx race and invite Ricky, tedesco, desalle and stanton! That be so cool to watch.
If that thing is really, and truly British……
They best line to sell…. Because we won the War
News flash Max. I saw yesterday that Doc Wob finished Mike Brown's 250 Triumph 2 stroke for the VMXDN this summer, but I don't think you will get to ride it until after Mike races it.
Yes I saw the bike on show at Telford, looks awesome! (as expected from Mr Wob!)
Best feature so far on the Triumph MX bike launch. History always matters!
For the same reason calling RC the GOAT is highly inaccurate ......
Thank you
Excellent introduction. Well done 👍🏾
Thanks for watching, appreciate your comment :)
Max nice video , never ever experienced launch control in a car let alone a bike, We used to peg it open dump the clutch Speedway style, spining that back wheel and hoping we didn't hit too much extra grip and loop that sucker 😂
its probably a great feature in a mud race, but fortunately weather was great in Florida for the test :) thanks for watching
999Lazer...Always love watching your videos Guys !!! Always Great content..... keep doing what you're doing lads 👍👍👍
Thanks Malc :)
Perhaps it is time for Carmichael to become Sir Carmichael? 😁 Well done Mr C and Triumph!
Haha I'd love to see that, it's about time we had a Sir in MX! lol Thanks for watching dude
You can tell that triumph took inspiration from all the japanese bikes and packed it all into one single package. While Beta took their inspirations from ktm, husky, gas gas, etc. Know once Ducati comes out with their bikes i wonder what manufacturer they were inspired by.
That looks like a really good start for their first mx bike!!! Awesome good work Triumph!!!
It was a very impressive package! Thanks for watching dude
Another great video Max! Think I might look into getting an enduro model once that comes out. Seems an awesome machine!
Thanks for taking the time to watch Dylan :-)
I can't wait to see these bikes on the track I want to see how these teams are assembled and work out I think they're all in and they're going to do just fine better than fine I think they're going to do freaking great
Thanks for watching Douglas. I think they'll do great too :)
My first triumph was a 68 650 bonneville and i found it sunken in a yard got it for $75 and after i cleaned it they were ahead of there time and built so well definitely built for reliablity and rugged
Forgot to mention beautiful
awesome , thanks for watching Jon
It shows commitment when a road bike manufacturer puts its hand in its pocket to supply British and worldwide riders a competitive motocross bike.
I’m hoping to see big things from this 👍👏🤞
It seems to me that Triumph are doing everything right here, like i said in the video i reckon they'll be in the industry for the long haul and they'll be major players inside of it as well!
Great vlog max triumph you can’t go wrong 👌👌👌
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :)
In America, Triumph was huge in flat track racing. I ripped a few laps on a Trophy-powered Champion-framed Junior class bike. I was a Novice at the time and that bike almost made me soil myself.
haha, nice. Thanks for watching :)
Very cool…I’m not sure if I’d buy one but those numbers are VERY impressive…put it this way, not just 6 years ago you needed a 450 to get 48-50 hp …a stock 2stroke 250 back in the day made that kinda power…unfortunately Japan still makes the most RELIABLE motorcycles on the planet and does so at a fraction of the cost as Europe
It'll be interesting to see what happens (in terms of reliability etc) with these bikes when the wider world can get our racing on them. None of the bikes on the press day missed a beat to be fair....Thanks for watching dude!
Best video yet...that Triumph is going to rip some brands a new one....awesome
Thanks for watching :)
Awesome video mate 👌👌👌👌👌
Thanks Iain, glad you enjoyed it:)
That bike sounded mint with that grunt. Can't wait to hear the 450.
It's definitely got a very distinctive bark! 450 should be out by the end of the year :-D
@999lazer Hopefully, they give you the opportunity to review that bike as well.
Great insight and review Max. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Paul :)
Motocross is alive and kicking, the trumpy is next level. Great episode
Thanks for watching Andrew! It's exciting times for dirt bike fans :-D
@999lazer shame, it's not a two-stroke 😁
Brilliant video max way to go triumph
Thanks Tony, glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks mate. Well done! 🤘
No problem Mat :)
You jammy little sod!
Blagged the trip of a lifetime, played on what looks to be a world class bike and you met The Goat.
Absofuckinglutely amazing.
Triumph put on one hell of a show for this one, i had to stop at one point on track to soak it all in :-D Thanks for watching dude
@er I'm just rebuilding my 1972 Bultaco Pursang 250 mx bike, when I'm done you're welcome to borrow this right-hand gear change beast for as long as you like.I'll message you as soon as it's finished.
Have just seen video of the new Ducati Desmo 450 MX which is still being developed.....
Exciting times indeed for MX racing.....
Great Video. I wish I knew there was another youtuber there.
We hope you enjoyed the track.
Track was awesome Willis, catch up with you next time :)
I am amazed you can Map the engine 😮 totally AWESOME tech compared to my days 70s 80s
Beautiful machine, so beautiful 😮❤ 🇬🇧
That looks like a helluva ride! My last 250 was a long time ago. Like 1982, YZ250. The Triumph has more power and is ligher than my 40 year old two cycle bike was.
Good video mate and hope the brand do well
Thanks for watching Dean
You do a great power to you 🏴💯👍
What a great review from Jordan
He did a great job
Beautiful bike
The Goat machine haha .
Going on what I've seen and heard its a great bike ..every test rider loves it.
Top draw vid 👌🏼
Thanks Larry! It was a very impressive machine, Triumphs attention to detail is second to none
If you're Lucky, Ricky will take you to the GOAT FARM!! The price seems great for the quality of components and the intelligence of the R&D personal! I hope that price stays true to the consumer! 🤞
Enjoyed the video as always now I want one having just sold all my mx bikes and brought a triumph road bike🙃
Thanks for watching dude, sorry if we've put you in a predicament! haha
im not a 4 stroke guy but i want one of these BAD!
I feel the same dude! Thanks for watching :-)
no prob man! youve actually become one of my favorite channels on youtube. youve been doing an amazing job 🤙🤙@@999lazer
Ricky was too humble. The best ever talks, you listen.
Cracking video, think it's the international six day enduro though, different to the Scottish 6 day trial.
Thanks for watching dude :-) The ISDE was originally called the ISDT (as in trial), the name was changed in 1981 after the word 'Enduro' was popularized in the states :-)
@999lazer learn something new everyday! Great watch. Should get out on some trials bikes! Hit me up if you ever want a spin.
very nice review!
Thanks for watching Luke!
Wow, what an opportunity 👏👏👏
It was very cool! Thanks for watching Ben :-D
So, when is Royal Enfield going to enter the dirt bike game ?
THIS Triumph is friggen' amazing !
Great video 👍
Thanks for watching Stevo :-)
The new Triumph YZ250-X !!
Sooooo great with a breath of fresh Air!! Hope they’ll follow through and make a unicorn, super lightweight dual sport/adventure bike too to compete with the ktm exc 500 for example!
Time will tell, I think they'll have an extensive range of off-road machines within the next few years. Thanks for watching Oliver
@@999lazerone Can hope haha!! Thanks for the great content! Ill sub!
bike looksreally nice, rode it well too lovely jumps on that track
it was an awesome facility, probably the best I've ever been too! The bike was very impressive, i'm excited to see what Triumph can achieve in our world :-)
big fan of the channel, keep up the awesome work@@999lazer
I'm looking forward to see how it fares,👍.
It'll be interesting to see how Joey Savatgy goes on it outdoors this year!
The bike loves it in the AIR 😮,looks like a jump bike ,we need a massive RAMP and some Red Double Decker Buses ❤
🤨 WHAT ? !
In Florida, USA ! ?
REALLY ? ! I'm shocked...🤔
South South Floridian here, hope you had a good time while around.👍
EDIT: Hope they make a street legal SuMo 450 with the bigger engine.
