- This is all the build updates from the Low Curves deck we just finished. This is probably the shortest supercut we've done.

Great work and thanks for showing all the work, dirty and clean alike. Thank you
Treated wood can be bolted to concrete, that is why it is been used us bottom plate on wood buildings
love the thinking of leaving the last edge open to finish the last board a full board without cutting
Love your videos! I've built several wood decks, but am planning a new composite deck for my house. I am learning a lot from you.
Great! Don’t forget to share! Thanks for following
Wow that was Awesome I love it I learned a lot thank you
50:12 amazing project the difference between professional, and weekend warrior I would like to try a similar project for my deck thank you
Thought I was the only one that believes in finishing on a full deck board:)
Amazing learnt something new how to bend the trex decking sheet
Yes. good job i loved it. I m so sad you can't make your deck in france. Have a good weekend . Big up from France👍👍👍👍👍
Much Love
Great job!
Wow, You are on a whole different level! I have built a lot of decks and learning tons from you, thank you for taking the time and creating some of the best content I’ve seen. How in the world do you estimate a deck like this?
First time viewer. Tremedouse job.
Despite naysayers your art work and your believe defines your work. Thanx
Hey buddy, pier blocks are cool, but, as a building inspector you should explain to your peeps that you can only use the pier blocks if a deck is NOT ATTACHED to the house. The reason for this is, if attached to the house, it becomes part of the primary structure, and therefore requires footings. Not attached to the house, it becomes an accessory structure, and as such, does not require footings. The only issue is, as an accessory structure, most municipalities have a code stating accessory structures need to be x amount of feet from the primary. That being said, I don’t think most inspectors would care for a ground level deck…it’s just like a paver patio..the blocks are more for stability than frost protection. Anyway, nice job, looks great. You know what you’re doing. I just thought it would be helpful to people watching so they understand you can’t just stick the pier blocks anywhere. Plus, it makes you look smart…lol. I’m liking the curves. I just ordered the heatcon for a side job I’m doing. Good stuff. Keep it up. Best Rick
Man, you should not have shown me that you can bend composite boards! 😏 Super cool work Bro!
I'm surprised that the last deck lasted 25 years. Where I live if you build that low they rot out in 5 or 6 years. I'd think a patio would be a better choice since it's so low anyway.
What is the concern about the pine needles over the years @ 15:20, the needles laying on the joists between the decking boards or the needles potentially laying in grooved edge boards being aesthetically unattractive in which this case you guys installed solid edge boards
Looksgreat!!!
For perfection you need the skill and the math... learn the trade and learn the math and used together you’ll finish with perfection.
First time viewer of your channel. Really nice job on your low deck. Learned a lot from your video.
You guys did all that framing in 3-4 days ? Holy crap that’s fast. Low clearance, curved decking is not easy. If it was, Everyone could do it.
Truth. Thanks
How is he cutting the curves in the wood with the framing?
I agree this is art work instead of quick construction work. The plant in the background looks nice as well. Is it black bamboo? You mentioned Cutek Extreme is applied at cut spot. How does it compare to copper naphthenate for this kind of application in terms preserving wood from decay?
Tell em doc! You haven’t ever built nothing like this lol
Ive never done a curved deck. That looks like a pain though. How are you templating the curve on the framing? For inside stuff I usually lay it out and just use the old school pencil on a string or piece of wood but I dont think that would work great outside on the uneven ground
How does your back handle that brutality :)
Do you have a video of you cutting your radius' out?
Proper planning prevents poor performance
Impressive string of P's there
awesome work!
@drdecks how would you build a Low Deck in an HOA where digging is prohibited due to irrigation being just below the surface?
What is the tool you use to put your rattle cans in?
Where can I purchase the materials that are used to bend the wood?
Options are either build your own box (I've heard of people using baseboard heaters in this application), Trex CustomCurve machine (about $6k), or Heatcon heating blanket set (about $3k). May be able to call a lumber yard in your area that sells composite deck because sometimes they rent out heaters to contractors. I've also heard it's easier to bend azek or timebertek than it is trex, so i think people tend to get those for the curved boards even if they got trex for the rest of the deck. You can also bend railing but it takes some experimentation.
What is that cutting station?
What PC application do you use to lay out the decks, can it help calculate Radius?
How much can I expect a 20’x5-1/2” Azek deck board to grow in the sun here in Washington state? Assume the decking is installed in the winter. I’m trying to plan where my perpendicular boards will run into the perimeter picture frame board.
At least 1/4”
Does anybody know where he gets the circle border from?
Great work!!!, question: can you rent heatcon kit?
No. The equipment is so specific that it is not rented out. We do create curved planks for other clients if you’re interested
That's really good answer to a great question!
Dónde puedo comprar la máquina para calentar el deck y diblarlo
Level and shim the fascia in front of its final position and scribe the bottom….
What computer program do you use to design your decks ?
Did you make your jigs for the curved boards?
Indeed
I thought it was looking great until they screwed it from the top
Why not use the clips that go along the edge and have a clean screw less look ? Was the customer too cheap ?
They are hidden fasteners by FastenMaster called Cortex. Look it up.
It’s Plumb, not level….lol
Learning a lot on you videos, BUT Please protect yourself when cutting treated wood, your are breathing all the dust, not good
