- THIS ONE IS JUST TOO HARMANISH FOR ME :
I CAN'T GET PAST THE UPPER MIDS , THE SCOOPED OUT LOWER MIDS AND THE VOCAL CENTRIC TUNING, STAGE IS NARROW , TAMBRE IS OFF ON VOCALS AND INSTRUMENTAL. WOULD PROBABLY TAKE A EQ BUT FOR $150 YOU GET A QUADBRID!
THANK YOU TO SIMGOT FOR THE UNIT
Ah, yes, the highly popular Harman tuning offering a consistant melodious replay of male eunuchs and shouting females. 🎶😣🎵
No Balls at all!
I don't get why this set gets so much love
man your reviews are just delightful
Thanks so much 🙏
My fav Simgot is the EA1000 and A/B'ing with the Mix 4 its night and day. Mix4 sounds so congested and muddy. I never use Hiby MSEB but tweeked some bass setting and got it sounding Better but but I agree completely. Mix4 is a Nix4.
Poem Of Chinese Drum (Hok-man Yim, Traditonal. Sounds brilliant on the Simgot Supermix 4. Nils Lofgren Acoustic Live Album (song Keith Don't Go - live also sounds just as good + Eric Clapton Unplugged Deluxe Edition Album (song Hey Hey-Acoustic Live) I also prefer a harman tuned iem tho.😊
There is a reason why Harmon Tuning exist it does have a large fan base.
We are definitely hearing these similarly. My favorite Simgot tuning so far has been the EM6L due to the mid bass warmth. I'd love to see them flex their tuning muscles and go for something balanced or even warm/neutral.
You and me both!
for metal and rock genres, I found using Fiio KA17 with high gain mode and fast filter will enhance the treble (better guitar sounds) and reduce the subbass.
My ears also easily fatigue with this IEM because of the sub bass, but not after that setting.
Hope this helps!
The synergy with Onix Alpha and a little EQ to your personal liking for high volume listening is off the charts! My next affordable iem will probably be the Hidizs MP145.
SWEET!
smart choice
Seems like everybody likes EM10 except you
Theres a reason he's called 'tone deaf'
I agree this is a specialist set, but I don't agree it's lacking tech. It's a technical monster for Jpop and Kpop. Female vocals are very detailed. Male vocals in those genres can often be very high pitched and go into countertenor, and those shine with this set
You make a valid point if you listen to those Genres Yup 100%
What would be the point of putting out another sounding similar to the 500, love the sm4 sub bass and still clear mids for vocals without being thin and smooth treble, great soundstage. Just need a warm source for male vocals, ifi go blu with bass boost sounds great
I tried my TUBE Amp, Shanling M5Ultra and ONIX Alpha all still sounds wrong to me ears.
whats your recommendation for somone who likes a fairly bright sound but is quite sensitive to treble hiss and sibilance
most peoples ideas of not sibilant seems to mean a reduction in 12-16khz
I would say the Project M
@@tonedeafmonk it seems like it would be quite sibilant and almost the opposite of what I asked for
I agree. Harman tuning is not for me too. Dont like how the midbass sounds. It just feels like a character in ott serieses that gains importance and then suddenly dies.
Man the SM4, I tried a friends unit and it was pretty meh. The Vocals did not sound natural at all to me :/
Many say that , I felt the same, doesn't help the Shamless Hypers doing reviews , that's the big problem in the Hobby.
For high volume I use an Onix Alpha, turn down my highs slightly till not shrill and increase my upper bass. All the body warmth appears without losing any details
That's the only way I could listen to it. But I used my Cayin N3Ultra tube DAP
@tonedeafmonk with a good seal and the eq at loud volume they really do slap. I appreciate the clarity that remains and how some instruments and vocals remain revealing in comparison to many darker iems.
Thanks for the review. 👍
What do you recommend that has fuller note weight in the $150 price range?
Probably the Pula PA02 Oriveti OD200 but top pick would be Kefine Delci. I a hear a tunable version maybe coming?
Hey don't mean to hijack your post or video here, which by the way is a fantastic video just curious have you ever reviewed any campfire audio IMs I'm just curious
No I asked them but they don't seem interested in main stream RUclips Channels
@@tonedeafmonk shame. Hubris much??
Request for a loud volume iems. Thanks
Binary Acoustics DYNAQUATTRO will blow your mind as it's blowing mine right now!
So would you prefer pula 02 or simgot supermix 4 ? Im so torn between those 2 or do you have any other recomendation ?
Sliivo SL41 MKII if ypu can get it on sale- but honestly Butterfly 61t is better at or arround $200 and at $300 If ypu have the same taste as me wait a week for the Binary Acoustics DYNAQUATTRO
@@tonedeafmonk thank you sir, ur review is awesome ❤️
@@vincentkhosasi3954 Thank you so much!
I had Both, but yeah it is for different genre.. but I am go for Pula coz mainly my playlist was rock. but they still give me a good range of playable genre
Do you have the Aful Snowy Night? Would it be a good dac for this iem?
The EA1000 sounds much fuller than the Supermix4. Supermix4 sounds very detailed, very clean and open, but the mid-bass tuck is not my cup of tea. I prefer the EA1000, it’s very well tuned.
Agreed Simgot going in the wrong direction for my tastes
@@tonedeafmonk Speaking of wrong direction, do you think you could measure the impulse response, to see if the drivers are going in the wrong direction? 😀 A reviewer on headfi had a set with inverted absolute polarity (measured). That could explain why things might sound a bit off with this set. Cheers!
I prefer a bit more midbass myself. I have discovered that i prefer all ba sets. I have no clue why though. I have the Audiosense T800, SLT6 and my favorite IVIPQ V11. The V11 is amazing you just got to eq the bass down a bit. They legit sound like a dd set. Im thinking about another all ba l set. Just not sure what!
I bought this Tingker H6b3 BA Sub brand of Audiosense for $55 killer all BA Set
same for me the ea500 was exciting but sm4 was boring ( it reminded me of hexa boredom), i hoped it would be a quintet without the metallic harsh treble but sm4 had not the wow factor quintet had. can't understand why sm4 was hyped so much
So, no one is talking about the SM4 inverted polarity? Wouldn't this affect the sound?
Mine doesn't have inverted polarity.
@@choloboyWhat's the easiest way to check that? Did you measure the impulse response? Asking cause I don't have a measuring rig myself.
@@Krasche02 just search polarity test. If you don't hear anything wrong then it's fine.
@@choloboy Yes, but you need to do the "absolute polarity test", not the normal one where only left or right channel is flipped. That's easy to hear, absolute polarity is harder. Inverted absolute polarity can make things sound a bit off, especially bass. That's why I asked about the impulse response graph, that shows clearly if drivers going in when it should be pushing out and vice versa. :)
@@Krasche02 you can still notice it if something is not right with your unit. Unless you want to open up the iem and test it. I think that's the only way to check it.
Another Simgot Harman iem which is really good. Simgot has a good formula now.
Good news for Harman lovers for sure!
Did you hate this more than the explorer?
Nope It's a better IEM the Explorer is too niche
