- In this series, I assemble what I believe is the greatest team possible for each franchise. In this specific video, we're looking at the Chicago Bulls.
5 starters, 5 backups, and 3 rotations players. A total of 13 roster spots on each Ultimate Team. It's not just about talent, but it's about building a team that works and gels together.

The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!

How would you rank the Ultimate Teams so far, Bulls, Bucks and 76ers??
In case you would like to see the other videos in the series, here they are.
Bucks ruclips.net/video/4WL0U_8eWNo/видео.html
76ers ruclips.net/video/upEOuy6Nevc/видео.html
I would change Harper for Gordon. Otherwise I agree.
@jonnyarnett what happened to chet Walker and jerry SLOAN
-John Paxson over Steve Kerr
-Orlando Woodridge over Ben Gordon
CAPTAIN KIRK OVER KERR
BJ ARMSTRONG OVER KERR
JOHN PAXSON OVER KERR

This team is terrifying. It isn't the offense that's as terrifying as the incredible defense they'll be able to provide across ALL positions. This is a team that very easily could hold opposing teams to under 90 a game while very easily scoring 110+ a game. Great team construction man, I agree whole heartedly with every guy you put on here.
“All positions” Except at PG lmao
@@quackmemes5410ron harper was a lockdown pg
@@quackmemes5410 rose is actually an underrated defender people overlook that part of his game because of how many athletic highlights he had in his prime offensively but even after his injury he was no slouch on defense
@@jxmmykriminallive he was pretty bad defensively dawg
@@jxmmykriminallive Exactly. People never really thought of Rose as that good on defense but he actually was. You can't be successful on a Thibs team if you don't bust ass on defense. Furthermore, even if Rose falls behind on defense, you've got Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Butler, and many others who can pull up the slack on defense. Again, this team is absolutely terrifying. I'd never want to come up against this team in a game. Haha.
As the last name was about to be announced, was expecting Ron Harper or Zach LaVine... great video !!!
Or Luol Deng
Not lavine😂
Or Van Lier
Great team! :)
I think Ron Harper would have deserved at least an honourable mention considering the fact he is also a great two way player
Not in Chicago.
@@sidjones16he 3 peated with them in 96 97 and 98. Basically did the same thing as Rodman but he goes under appreciated
@@potionz1733 exactly! They don't win without Harper
@potionz1733 Jud Buechler 3 peated too. That's not really an argument.
Rodman had to guard Shaq, Malone and Kemp. The primary or secondary scorer. His antics got dudes more focused on him than the game. He led the league in rebounds.
Although he barely scored, the defense had to focus on him the same as Jordan.
Imagine playing great defense and forcing a bad shot or miss, and Rodman gets a put back or offensive board. Now you have to try to stop them again, which usually doesn't happen.
That will demoralize a team.
Ron Harper got to hit open 3s and only had to focus his energy on defense. He was arguably one of the first 3 and D players.
Not the same as the 20+ppg, two way Ron Harper.
Like I said, not in Chicago.
@@sidjones16he sacrificed offense to better gel. He didn't have to score 20 a game because they had Jordan. But that doesn't mean he couldn't. Do u guys not understand how that works? When you're on a really good team, you sacrifice to make it work. If he had to, I'm willing to bet Harp could still light it up. Think Bosh in Miami. Same thing.
So butler n jordan would be first father son team 😮
Dammit u beat me to it
@trollsworstnightmare3769 sorry bud lol
Nice list. More honorable mentions you should have on your list is Kirk Hinrich, Jerry Sloan & Luol Deng
Yeah those guys are super awesome and very underrated coming from a pistons fan!
This is my favorite series on this channel 👌
Same, really hyped for the Ultimate Pistons
I fully agree. Having gotten to see the Bulls, I can't wait to see the Celtics, the Lakers, and the Pacers.
Agree
I think Chet Walker and Jerry Sloan should have made the honorable mentions but the team you put together is great
I would even find room in final 13 for both of them. And perhaps Norm van Lier too.
Chet Walker should made the team
Those two should have been on the team
You know your stuff for sure Johnny.
I probably would've included Ron Harper in the three man rotation over Ben Gordon for the defensive advantage. I also would've liked to have seen Norm Van Leir and Jerry Sloan get a mention since they along with Gilmore did fairly well in Chicago early on in the franchise.
But all that said I really do like your list and I think it's well thought out and researched. Another great video👍.
Honestly it would be a better challenge if you could only pick a player once per team. Example Lebron is picked for the Cavs, but you can’t select him for the Heat.
Edit : Steve Kerr over Jerry Sloan?? Idk about that.
But to be fair he is only doing it based on how well that player played during their tenure on the team. That is why Wade is not one of the player chosen.
As someone who doesn’t have much knowledge about past basketball (I recently got into NBA), I appreciate your videos
This team would be UnstoppaBull!
Wait till you see the Lakers.
Good one tho
You'll see yourself out 😜
@@williamcorliss9664 Pfft nobody is stopping a trio of Jordan Pippen & Rodman buddy
@@FrokuBabayy Shaq magic kobe
I would’ve at least had Jerry Sloan as a rotation player. Maybe flip a coin on whether to keep Butler or Gordon, but Sloan would mesh well with this team and give even more defense.
Great lists and reasons as always!
Agree, I would take Sloan over Gordon easily. More size for better rebounding as well, and could play SG/SF. I value his intangibles that he brings over the playoff point avg advantage of Gordon.
Sloan provided toughness as well as defense.
I love getting reacquainted with a Franchise’s history. I love this series ♥️👍
Oh man, this is quite an amazing team. MJ, Scottie, Butler, Rodman, Kukoc, Rose at his peak, etc would be intimidating and so tough to stop. Great lineup and choices. As you said, their defense would be solid. The offense would be great also and there are some great clutch players too.
Awesome video. Have a good week, Jonny 😊!
Check out Chet Walker's yearly stats from '69 to '75 after the Bulls acquired him from the 76ers. I'm really surprised you didn't at least have him listed as an honorable mention. Happy that Bob Love was at least second team, though. Interestingly, throughout much of his life, Love lived with a debilitating stuttering problem (much like Bill Walton). Now I'm anxiously awaiting for my team, the Boston Celtics.
I cannot wait to see the ultimate Celtics team!!!!
That teams gonna be deeeeeeeeep
Behold: The best defense of all time.
Just picture Bill Russel and KG together, it's scary by itself.
@@gustavocavaca1757with McHale and Bird...
Do the rules allow players during different eras? Like do Celtics get a prime Bill Walton?
@grog3514 nah cos then you could throw shaq , pistol Pete etc in there
I thought Ron Harper would rank higher... or at all, for that matter (at least as an honorable mention). Anyhoo, this series keeps getting more and more interesting!
This series is great. Cant wait for teams like, lakers, celtics and detroit.
The one I've been waiting on...... My Squad 🐃🌎👀🔴
This will be a stacked one!
Craig Hodges. Loved that guy before and during the first two championships. Among the Bulls’ best 3-point shooters you choose Kerr. Fair enough, you mention floor spacing as well. But for 3-point shooters, to me the legend is Hodges. And even between Kerr and Paxson as overall players and entitled playmakers in the Bulls the discussion is open and rightfully so. But for 3-pointers... man, Craig Hodges
Amazing serie, glad to see it being continued. Cheers from Brazil
Surprised u didn’t mention Jerry Sloan. Ik I’m not that familiar with his game but he was a 2x all star with 6 all defensive selections. Or maybe instead of Ben Gordon get a better scorer and shooter in Lavine
Also was thinking somehow including Luol Deng, making even the lineup more stacked defensively
Sloan might have been nice. I personally wouldn’t sub him for Gordon though, because at that point, I was more concerned with getting another 3 point shooter, rather than yet another solid defensive player
@@jonnyarnettthat’s fair but Lavine imo would’ve been the choice.
Also I know these videos probably take long but it would be interesting adding a specific year- like 2011 d rose or 2022 DeRozan for example. Think it would be a cool idea but if you think that’s unnecessary then that’s fair
Love the Bob Love appreciation
This is such a dope series!
At the end hopefully you can do a match-up (playoff tournament style) team vs team: see which team had the best of the best
Can you imagine how good Rose could have become with the guidance of Jordan? And of course without getting injured. Rose was the kind of player that the Bulls franchise would have been able to build a new dynasty around.
The only guidance that Rose would’ve needed was to be told that he needs a much more softer finishing with his moves. Just watching his landings gave me injuries.
Jordan wouldnt help him at all. Phil Jackson made Jordan, and he would be the one making Rose even better
@@Phoenix-pm2qr Jordan was already a top 5 player in the league in his rookie season. Jackson made the Bulls 6x champs, but he did not make Jordan at all. Jordan played the best season of his career (and any career, for that matter) in 1988.
@@Phoenix-pm2qrWho was Phil before Jordan?
@@MrReeseThe bulk were already contenders before Phil took over. Jordan was the only Bulls player in his prime
after doing all the teams, it would be fun to see a TIER/ranking list of them :D
Seems like a freaking hard task.
Jerry Sloan and Norm Van Lier should be included in the honorable mentions as well
I’m really curious when Johnny gets to less storied franchises, like the Wizards, Hornets, and Twolves. It’s going to be a good opportunity to learn about some old players that I don’t know about 👍
Loved the list.
Would’ve wanted to see captain Kirk and Harper, even if they’re just honorable mentions.
A very stacked team which has solved his problems in the paint ,The A Train was awesome and Jooks had a solid career .Great defense, great scoring ,clutch plays .A nightmare for their opponents
Ron harper was a great scorer during his Cavs days. Averaging 20 ppg. However he sacrificed this to play defence. He should be on the team. He can defend and score if he wanted to.
Jonny, I love your content, and I love this series, but you really need to give some love to some of the Bulls from the 1970's. For Chet Walker, Jerry Sloan, Norm Van Lier, and Tom Boerwinkle not to get honorable mention, not ONE of them, is ridiculous. Basketball in Chicago existed before 1984. At least you have Gilmore & Love in there
I agree with a person who posted that they would have replaced Ben Gordon with Jerry Sloan, as Sloan provided not only great defense, but also toughness.
Great video Johnny Not having Luol Deng but having Derozan and Lavine is a bad move lol
Rose
Jordan
Pippen
Kukoc
Gilmore
Kirk Hinrich
Big Ben Gordon
Deng
Rodman
Noah
Sloan
Theus
Walker
Grant
Love
Starters
Rodman is not in my starting lineup because lack of spacing for Rose and Jordan. Kukoc started in 1998 nba finals so he can contribute more with this lineup than Rodman with his shooting and passing. Gilmore is 7’2 and the most talented Center Jordan ever played with. Don’t get me started on the big 3 of Rose Jordan Pippen
Bench
Kirk is the all time Bulls 3pt leader so that’s why I have him over Kerr/Paxon. The baby bulls with Rodman is a dark horse championship team. 2007 Bulls with Kirk and Gordon beat the defending champions Miami Heat in the first round. This is the same team that pushed 2009 Celtics to 7 games, the greatest playoffs series of all time. Rodman and Noah in the paint means no layups/rebounds for anybody. Elite defense, rebounding, 3pt shooting and a shot creator.
3rd string
I was in elementary school watching the baby Bulls so my bias of watching them is why they’re the 2nd string. Bob Love and Jerry Sloan have their numbers retire so they have to be in this team. I don’t know much about them so that’s why they’re on the 3rd string. As mush as I wanted to put Butler, Chet Walker gets the edge because he made more all star teams and played with Love Theus and Sloan. Grant is there for championship experience and toughness
As a Bulls fan, Derozan does not deserve to be here especially over Luol Deng
Jerry Sloan and Chet Walker need to be on the list.
Kirk Hinrich should’ve make the list instead of Steve Kerr. A better floor general for second unit.
Facts. Kirk is the all time bulls 3pt shooter and not having Luol Deng is a crime
Also a great hypothetical Father and Son team. 😁
The series is back!
Nice work, I would have included Sloan, Walker and Van Lier though
Wow !
Just thinking MJ/ROSE/PIP
would be so much fun to watch !
This is a great video! I didn’t see the first two in the series so, now I gotta go back and watch, lol! If you do complete all 30 teams you should do some kind of tournament/fan poll to see which one wins.
Only youtuber I never miss a video
A D-Rose MJ back Court would have been insane, they may have broken their own 72 game record.
Love this series!!!
I think Kirk Hinrich should have at least made honorable mention... great video!
I do like the series. Series I would be even happier about will be brief history of each team, a chronological story about franchise ups and downs through the decades, of course told from the voice of my favorite youtuber ❤.
Jonny when you are done with this series you should rank all these all time teams from worst to best
I love this series
I knew you would have A-Train at da 5.... salute
Now waiting for the next
I would have put LaVine at the backup 2 and Jimmy as the backup 3 but this team is stacked.
The only people missing from the honorable mentions are Jerry Sloan, Norm Van Lier, and Ron Harper. Keep up the great content!
Great to see some coverage of Bulls all-time players aside from the most famous 3, thank you for this
I can't wait for your video on the Pacers!
Great video again! I love this series. I would be interested in wondering why you picked Kukoc over LaVine as they seem similar but with Zach having a higher ceiling.
Also would absolutely love if at the end of this you put out a video of your top 5 ultimate teams you put together.
Because fit. Kukoc has the chemistry with many of the Bulls on this roster, and yet another athletic scoring wing type player would have been a bit much, because this squad is flooded with guys like that. At a certain point, you need spot up shooters who are great at playing off-ball, and I thought Kukoc made more sense from that perspective
Fair comment but I don't think Lavine would fit in as well as Kukoc. Kukoc earned the respect of Jordan and Pippen and knows how to play as a role player on a championship team. As much as I love Lavine, he has only been a top scorer on bad teams. For a role player spot, Kukoc is definitely the choice.
I think the better question is why Kerr over Lavine? Or Ben Gordon even. Lavine's the best outside scoring wing the bulls have ever had... right? And he's an elite slasher too
Keep the series going 🫡
I was convinced simply by the combo of D Rose and MJ, the rest is super OP
Great video. Keep it going. ❤❤
Mad respect for adding Ben Gordon
Don't forget Bob Love, Stormin Norman Van Lier, and Jerry Sloan.
Jaw drop! No Ron Harper or Craig Hodges as Honorable Mentions?!?
Much love from Croatia brother, glad you included Toni in the Röster🇭🇷
Thank you Jonny!
I can’t believe I’m a day late. How did I miss this. Another all-time team video? HELL YEAH BROTHERRRR 🫵😩🤙
Ron artest would have been insane on this squad
Great team Jonny, I just wish you had included the player picked by the Bulls in the 1966 NBA Expansion Draft, the Original Bull: Jerry Sloan
Great team, didn't see Luol Deng though. Not sure if you forgot or just didn't mention him.
Didn’t forget, just didn’t mention. I could have had him as an honorable mention though. The honorable mentions list honestly could have been much bigger with guys like Deng, Kirk Hinrich, Ron Harper, Bill Cartwright, Jerry Sloan, etc
I would just like to support the continuation of this series with my comment.
Who else clicked on this episode knowing 4/5 starting spots? Thanks Jonny!
I did predict Artis Gilmore would be the first-team center because the Bulls haven't had any other great centers in their history.
If you're looking for outside shooting, Lavine>>>>Kerr and Gordon he's within a couple percent of each, especially on catch-and-shoot 3s, but can do more than either. I mean, just imagine swaping Kerr with Lavine on that 2nd 3peat. Heck they might have gone far into the 95 playoffs with Lavine even.
Not even listing Luol Deng as an honorable mention is crazy. I'd say let Kukoc be the backup 4 or really a combo-forward off the bench since you still have Grant, then you can have Deng as one of the deep bench guys. Also, I understand why you have Steve Kerr as the back-up PG, but really he doesn't do anything that Ben Gordon, or Zach Lavine couldn't do and both(especially Lavine) could bring more overall scoring, playmaking, size, strength etc. Gordon definitely played some mins at PG for the mid-2000s Bulls, and a lot of crunch time mins along side rookie D-Rose in 08-09.
Its awesome to see an all time team that includes both father and son
Jerry Sloan is the second best shooting guard in the Bulls history
Bob love was good player back for the bulls in the seventies
This squad is absolutely lethal. I could see them winning against an all time lakers or Celtics team
You should do a 2k sim with all these teams. Loving the series so far btw
One of if not the best 2 way team all time god this would have been dangerous if this team actually existed
This series is craxy in a good way! Out of all the teams just off the top of my head..... Bucks, celtics, bulls, Lakers, Spurs, Magic, rockets, wizards and sixers. I think if they all faced off im picking Lakers
Not a Lakers fan, but yeah, they just may have the best all-time team. Opponents just shouldn't bother going into the paint against them. It says something that their (relative) "weakness" may be a backcourt including Magic, Kobe, and West (particularly on defense).
A minor nitpick, but I'd start Horace Grant over Rodman. Rodman was a better rebounder and Horace was a better offensive player, but I would argue that by the time that he made it to Chicago, Rodman was still a good defender but had lost a step. I think that young/prime Horace Grant was a better defensive player than Bulls Rodman.
I would agree
That's one seriously tough team, you got to keep this series going
Artis Gilmore one of the most underrated centers in NBA history...
As for the potential roster spots to honorable mentions, it depends if you plan to include duplicate entries. I saw Ron Artest listed, but when I think Ron Artest, I think Indiana Pacers. I know he won a title in LA and was hugely instrumental in that title, but he was a huge factor on those Pacer squads prior to Meta World Peace and the move. Saying that, it also brings up the Washington Wizards including Jordan in their ultimate team, even though Mike is the quintessential Bull. Interesting premises Mr. Arnett... good editing Mrs. Arnett.
So glad you’re continuing this series. It’s awesome! 👍👍
YOURE THE BESTTT
Excellent series, Jonny. Speaking of defense -- can't wait to see the Pistons!
As a Pistons fan, it's going to be a hard wait.
With this series' emphasis on chemistry, and the fact that both championship eras of Pistons ball thrived on chemistry over star power, it's really tempting to just keep those groups together and roll out Bad Boys starting 5, Going to Work starting 5, then inject Hill, Bing, and Lanier for offensive boosts.
But smarter basketball minds like Jonny can probably make an all-time lineup more suited for the modern era and able to more reliably produce offense without sacrificing defense.
@@Rodanguirus That's my Pistons top 13 too and it will be interesting to see Jonny's expert take.
Great video. I would have added ben wallace, Rip Hamilton ,Luol Deng Ron Haper, Tyson Chandler Kirk Hinrich Kyle Korver, Charles Oakley, Jamal Crawford & Carlos Boozer to that honorable mentions list Im a biased bulls fan lol but you argue many of them wasnt in thier primes when they was on the bulls other than Captain Kirk & Luol Deng 😆
Great team...I concur with some of the other comments... this is my favorite series on the channel
Still waiting on Adrian Dantley and Connie Hawkins videos Jonny.. Keep educating these people
Defence!!!! ❤ 👏🏾 #GoBulls
I love this.
I have my own list, but I did one player per team, so LeBron for example isn't on 4 different teams.
Rodman = Pistons and Butler = Heat. Deroan = Raptors
I have Norm Van Leir. Jerry Sloan, Chet Walker and kirk Hinrick over Kerr. Loul Deng over Gordon.
I may rethink Gordon. I may need some shooting.
For my bench, I'm going Rondo, Lavine, Butler, Gasol, and Noah. I'm taking Kukoc, Demar, and Korver in my reserves. I think that gives me a significant increase in playmaking while not sacrificing three point shooting and still giving a very difficult defensive look to opposing teams. Kerr might have accomplished more and Love might have been great in his day, but I definitely feel that between Rondo, Gasol, and Korver you make up everything they would have given you and then some.
During their years in chicago tho… not stats with other teams
@@quietlikegasol led the league in double doubles as a Bull, Rondo was leading Chicago to a playoff victory against Boston until he got hurt, and Korver shot 42 percent from 3 during his time on the team.
"...a guy who was pretty decent at basketball" - understatement of the century right there.
I like this series idea
Love the video and team you constructed. They might not be the most talented team but they would be one of last ones i would want to face with the defensive tenacity and sheer will to win (Jordan, Butler, Pippen, Rodman, and Noah would be a sight to see)
Thank you for the video. Still thinking on my lineup as it's very difficult to choose the bench. I really wish we could hear Phil Jackson's thoughts on what his roster build would look like.
Next episode,
The Ultimate Detroit Pistons team 😏
I'm curious how this team is constructed.
I'm surprised Steve Kerr does not make the honorable mentions. He was only really good at one thing which was 3 point shooting but he has the NBA record for highest career and the Bulls record for highest single season 3-pt percentage. While that of course is on much less volume than the best shooters out there, he's arguably the closest thing to a sure 3-pt bucket in a pinch off the bench of all time.
now thisssssss is a team, love the defense
When finished, make a playoff video about the franchise teams.
When youre done with this series please do a tourament of the best all time teams
