First heard the song from an episode of The 4400, and was very impressed. These guys, as well as Civil Twilight ... Let's give a shout out for all the bands, totally underrated by the media establishment!
I am 16 years old, at the time when this band was active I was still not aware of it, I discovered them last year and I have to say something. No band has changed me as much as this one, and I couldn't be more saddened by the fact that they are not together. Guys please ..... come back
This band is really good and it's sad that they aren't more popular. I only found out about them because this song was in an episode of the tv show I was watching and I liked it so I googled it and found out the name of the band. I will definitely be listening to more of their music
Bought this album years ago when studying in China. From a street vendor who carries and sells "illegally imported"CD from his bike . Loved it , now am in a western country , realize they aren't that popular as I thought they would be . Life is funny .
This band is amazing. with one extremely well written song after another you cant deny the talent that runs through every fiber of their being. On a side note i just want to bring attention to zachbro and converse for life for having the most ridiculous and adolescent views on such a topic and also ask that they stop cluttering up valuable space on my monitor with their jersey shore banter. : )
It's so unfortunate that this band only did one album with a different name of the band and two albums by People In Planes. Such an underrated band. What the song means to me is about either addiction of drugs or addiction to gambling and the song is saying it's ok to be safe from those things because that kid hugging the other kid is comforting on how the person is feeling during these tough times. I went awww when I say the kid is hugging the other kid. Because that's so touching and meaningful. It just shows someone cares for that person. Or about alcohol.
I met Gareth after a show once. Really cool guy. Thick accent that I had to really pay attention at times. He didn't get American humor very much, but still... I wish I knew what happened to the photo I got with him.
To me this song is about watching other people make it to the top, while it seems you are on the sidelines. Very difficult to live life when constantly comparing yours to others. Thats where this song hits me.
They weren’t the biggest band in the world because they didn’t have the look. They would have been big in the 80’s and early 90’s. They were victims of changing trends and corporate demands. Sure, Gareth isn’t a pinup, but neither did they lean into their alt look. Too middle of the road in the end.

I found them through "Last Man Standing" on The Walking Dead. You know,
