    I have the DS and this Dr is spot on… but as he said if you are faithful in the day to day requirements, it’s a huge help and very successful surgery for many things especially over eaters.

    I had the DS in 2005, I have lost over 200 lbs and have kept it off... this surgery saved and gave me my life back... yes the vitamins are a need and since I love protein...it has been a good thing for me. the only real unpleasant side effect for me has been my bowels when it comes to the bathroom there can be a problem with an over run of gut flora and that is unpleasant, and the smell can me a bit much... but.. because of the results I have achieved I would do this again in a heartbeat and would recommend this to anyone that is willing to make the needed changes in their life to make this tool a part of their life and to give them a new lease on life....

    Whoa …120 grams. My surgical center and all my paperwork. Says 60-80
    10 weeks Po. I’ve only managed to work up to 55g a day cause they told me to stop protein shakes but I’ve also been stalled for two weeks

      you will get sick with the switch even if it cures your diabetes high blood pressure you keep the weight off.. you need a ridiculous amount of vitamins and supplements

      @@roseforyoubabe actually it really isn't a ridiculous about... but it was so worth it for me, I have had the DS since 2005 and have lost and kept off 200+lbs . the biggest issue for me is Iron levels.. in fact there is a IV infusion method of iron that I am schedule to get soon and it will last a year or two, I just have to monitor it...

      What type of symptoms do you have physically that may need a more extreme surgery as in sleep apnea diabetes chest pains, knee joint replacement, and so on that occur with being overweight I was 270 pounds and I lost 100 pounds doing the surgery and I do not need a new knee joint anymore. I’m completely off diabetes medicine. I have a completely normal BMI and I have no more chest pains, high, blood pressure, etc…

    why would they be able to absorb vitamin tablets if they couldnt absorb the vitamins in the food

    • @medicgeek10
      @medicgeek10 4 года назад +1

      the one thing about the DS and malabsorption is that you really need to change your meds and vitamins to chewables or suppositories. Since everything passes through your intestines so quickly it doesn't have the time to be absorbed... so that is the reason you have to take extra vitamins so that your body can get what it can from the food as well as the vitamins. For example, when I have had other surgeries since my DS I do my best to get the DR to give me suppository pain relievers because more of the drugs are absorbed than if it was in pill form. Long acting drugs are not really viable, you will not get the benefit of them because it will pass through your system to quickly. I hope that helps answer your question.
