Are Ricta Clouds the Best All-Around Wheels in Skateboarding?

  • Buy Ricta clouds using my link to support this channel! amzn.to/3g1xDiS ❤️ After my video about the legendary upcoming Bones street wheel formula, which are a magical combination of cruiser wheel on crust + slideability in the streets, I got tons of comments asking me about the Ricta Clouds. The Ricta Clouds were always on my radar, but I assumed they would be ineffective for street and park skateboarding due to the grip of the wheels. Decided to give them a try at a skatepark and a crusty street spot and let you know my thoughts. Did Ricta Clouds already accomplish what Bones is trying to accomplish with their new formula? Find out in this video. I skate LES Skatepark and Chinatown Manny Pad.

The Ricta Clouds 92a are easily an amazing hybrid wheel. One of my favorites when it comes to rougher streets. I also like Mini Logo 95a wheels by the way, very close to the Ricta 92a wheels, but slightly harder and (a lot) cheaper. By the way, the Ricta Chrome Core 99a wheels are also very amazing. Right up there with the Spitfire F4 full conicals.

Thanks for making this, it is important for me. I am an old dog (bones brigade era) who started skating again about a year and a half ago. I don't live in the US so soft wheels are hard to come by. I did a ton of research and spent a ton for imported ricta clouds and have been very pleased. There was no way in hell I was going to use 99A wheels.
Now I have a clear picture of whether or not to go for the bones wheels next time around.
Doesn't sound like a huge or necessary upgrade, but might be fun if the price is right.

I got a set of clouds about a month ago after much consideration. They are my favorite wheels to date. I need softer because pebbles destroy me, sending me flying and I like to cruise some. But the sliding is good too. I can break into slide when I need, but stick to the ground when I want too. Glad to see you like them. It’s ok if you don’t love them.

As a beginner, I can tell you that the Ricta Clouds 92A 54mm are absolutely the best wheels for learning to skateboard if you can't always ride on marble, but on normal roads. I made the most progress with the Ricta, up to the Ollie. I also have bones 52mm 99as, but they are just too small and too hard for beginners who have to practice in parking lots and streets. I have to force the Ricta to slide a lot, but that is better as a beginner than when you skid and slide too easily. I will definitely try the Bones again later.

    Rictas are great:
    1. The wheels aren't really symmrtrical so you shouldn't flip them. It'll throw off the lock in by flipping them.
    2. The plastic feeling isn't plastic, it's still just softer urethane. Of course, if this bothers you, just stick with harder wheels. Harder wheels are more ideal for transition skating anyway.
    3. These wheels are still the best balance for street and transition skating. You won't be flying out because of rough skate ground but you do sacrifice the lightness and slide. It's not impossible, but you won't slide further.
    4. Overall rictas are great. Totally recommend them to anyone who is considering softer street wheels.

For me streets aren't properly crusty unless there's a certain amount of gravel present. I travel to and from work on a skateboard and I swear if I didn't have big wheels with a low durometer (currently rocking 60mm 82A Kryptonics) I'd be flying several times every day. The amount of "crunch-crunch" I hear and pebbles flying about when riding that route is infuriating.

Americans don’t know how easy you’ve got it with lovely smooth sidewalks like that. Here in the UK are sidewalks are all over the place. One second smooth, then too bumpy to skate, then half and half. Never consistent and absolutely abysmal. I had to get Ricta Clouds just because of how crap our sidewalks are.

You should try the ricta wheels with bronson g3's in them, then they feel probably better. Bones Bearings and Wheels are skate1 and Ricta and bronson are funfactory, right? Then the comparison would be more fair. And maybe you could recommend this combination at least until the bones 93A wheels are out. :-) ( Second chance for the ricta wheels, maybe in comparison with the mini logo 95A's with bones bearings in them? Would be content, right?) :-)

watching this as a downhill freerider: ah yes indeed, harder is slippery and thus slows slower when breaking them out, while soft wheels are grippy and thus slow down faster. captain obvious lol :D
no offense, i really enjoy the street brigade get some variance in their wheels. us longboarders have experimented with shapes, duros, treadwidths and so on for years, it was time for you folks to get a taste, who knows, it might be the next breakthrough in what is possible on a plank.

I've seen a couple of videos now from NY skaters complaining about rough surfaces, then they cut to a shot of some paving/tarmac that looks smoother than almost anything in my local area. For my local area I'd say trying to cruise with anything below 65mm is kind of a non-viable option.

    • @Draxzy
      @Draxzy 2 года назад

I live in the mountains of the south and if you want to get everywhere around town, 63 mm at least but really 70 is just so great for cruising because you really don’t have to think much at all about where you’re going. 58-60mm is a great happy medium

@George Poulos The best hybrid wheels are Mini Logo 95a and OJ Nomad 95a. The 92a Rica Clouds have a wide riding surface, they're pretty heavy, and not the best for tricks. I own all these wheels and the 92a clouds roll the smoothest but they are the worst at tricks compared to the others.

This isn’t a new bones formula, they’ve mastered the 75B (95A for the a scale users) from the late 90s through 2014 when they were discontinued for whatever reason. They came in various shapes and sizes and had sick graphics. A lot of us PNW skaters back in the day preferred them for they went through the rough streets of Seattle but still had slideabilty and no flat spot issues.
