The Seekers were a superb Australian group, Ruth, and their exceptional lead singer, Judith Durham, had the voice of an angel ..... i say 'had' because sadly she died in 2022 ......this is the truly outstanding song that became a huge hit and started it all off for them back in the mid sixties.
But honestly, listen to ANY of their songs and you will love them ....

Knew about georgie girl many years ago. But just 😮discovered this song I'll never find another you a week ago. Been listening to it for about 100 times since. Wow! Inspirational love song. Beautiful song performed wonderfully and perfectly by the seekers. Found out all the parties involved and their stories. Tom springfield is a great song writer. And the cute girl judith sure can sing. Her voice is unique and beautiful. The 3 string guys were great too. They just don't make them like they used to anymore.

Oh yes... I’ve been listening to this since the mid 70’s when I was 14 years old. Still sounds as good

The Seekers were wonderful. Judith died last year. Take a look at The Seekers, I am Australian, Special Final Performance. This shows them later in life singing a special song for all Australians.

I agree completely with your comments.
    A few additional points:
    1. This song was composed by Tom Springfield. Listen to some of his sister, Dusty Springfield's, performances.
    2. This video was recorded in Abbey Road Studios, same studio the Beatles used for many of their recordings.
    3. The Seekers did have a superb 4-part harmony.
    4. Bruce Woodley, who plays the 6-string guitar, also composed several of the Seekers' songs.
    5. Athol Guy, who plays stand-up string bass (the cello's "big brother"), also sings bass in the quartet.
    6. Do continue to investigate the Seekers -- they left quite a legacy.
    7. There is also a fairly recent music video of this song, a duet arrangement featuring Keith Potger, the 12-string guitar player.

The Seekers are an Austrailian Group . They Started out playing on holiday ships , but eventually found their way to the UK . This was their first hit and they had many more . They were very popular but split up in 1967 . Judith persued a solo career . She rejoined them in 1994 i think and they kept playing until a few years ago . Judith sadly passed away just aver a year ago . Try reacting to The Carnival Is Over . Thanks Ruth

The last song released is called Carry Me. It is so profound and was introduced at Judith's memorial service. You should listen to it.

It is the largest (and deepest) of the Violin family... 🎻 and can either be played with a bow, or the strings plucked/hit with the hand.
