- Here, I review two Z-style keyboard stands, purchased recently on Amazon:
1 - On-Stage KS7365EJ Pro Heavy-Duty Folding-Z Keyboard Stand with 2nd Tier ($220)
2 - PYLE Heavy-Duty Multi-Functional Music Stand - Z Style & Portable, 2nd Tier ($95)
Verdict? The more expensive model wobbles significantly less. The structural brace (a rigid box in the center) produces greater stiffness than a single beam. As a pianist with two keybeds, I will return the $95 model and keep the $220 model, even though they are practical identical in all other respects.
If you use the second tier to read music, or hold a laptop, then you may be fine going with the cheaper option. However I play on both levels, and my preference is the stiffer model.
