Slightly altered version of the original instrumentation.
My guess, Sascha didn't use it because PM did a good job of drowning out everyone's vocals, lol.

"This Guy" was the lead singer of Bauhaus. If that name doesn't ring a bell, beat yourself with your speakers until titles like "Bela Lagosi's Dead", "Low Flat Fields", and "Dead Souls" seem familiar again. ^_^
I've been a KMFDM for years and this is the first time I've heard this version. This is awesome! Peter Murphy is awesome, and so are KMFDM!
Same. I own this album
They really are . Before and after the break up + lucia
i am actually in love with this version. it is really awesome. his voice gives the whole song a different "tone" in a good way :D
I always loved this song. I've always thought Peter Murphy had one of the best voices in rock.
This version gives me goosebumps over and over. I would really love to see an HD release of this.
Tim's version is great. But, Peter Murphy...wow.
I am always a SKOLD fan first and foremost (hell, my old AOL screen name was SKOLDISGOD) but I like how this brings a totally different vibe to the song. The song was already haunting, especially for KMFDM fans like me who bought it on Adios' release date only to get home and turn on the news to see Columbine coverage. But SKOLD's take is a bit more rough around the edges that works with the feeling of loss while Murphy brings his classic vocals making it way more Ultra Goth-y Beat
Wow, two great things to make a perfect experience. The classic electronics of KMFDM with the incredible voice of Peter Murphy.
Peter's voice always adds perfection!
Ugh. Peter Murphy. What a god in his own reich. Just can't seem to get enough of that voice.
Is the "Ugh." a misunderstanding of the term, or is it used....in a cynical way. ugh. this comment is so confuseding
@@carlosonthekeys It was used in the sense of bliss.
Owned this on cassette tape. The only tape I ever had was KMFDM ADIOS, just before they stopped selling them in stores! Nothing good lasts forever!!! Nothing!!!
Ok,,let's do the math...We got KMFDM plus Peter Murphy. KMFDM: great, Peter Murphy: great, let's see.....divided by greatness...carry the M....Yea, this is pretty fucking great.!!
Ok so I like both versions, they feed my misery.
wow I really like this version - has such a different feel to the original
Peter Murphy has got the most beautiful voice. I've always liked this song, but with him on vocals... it's amazing!!!
Apparently Sascha agrees, since Skolds' made the album but Peters' didn't, lol.
I prefer Skolds take myself, but it is nice to know that options were open. Both versions I think have their pro's and cons. Skold gives it that Angst and drive that everyone knows and loves, while I think Peters rendition makes the song seem like it's more of a retrospective of modern life (Which I'm pretty sure it was never meant to sound like).
I still think this should have an official release.
Isolation
When you leave it's like I disappear
Desolation
Every time you go it feels like
Seconds slowly turn to minutes
A month of Sundays coming up
Time again it pulls me under
Wonder if I'll ever rise above
It's too much but not enough
Misery loves company
For a little bit of sympathy
It's here today but it's gone tomorrow
It's here today and today will never come again
It's here today
Desperation
Sinking into somewhere dark and cold
Deviation
A place I knew I didn't want to go
To forget is all I know
Minutes slowly turn to hours
Another moment passes by
Seconds of eternity
I wonder if it's time to say goodbye
It's here today but it's gone tomorrow
It's here today and today will never come again
It's here today
It's here today but it's gone tomorrow
It's here today and today will never come again
It's here today
It's a long way to the top, if you want to Hip-Hop!
super like, 2 faves. love it
I like both versions for different reasons. I think this Peter Murphy version is beautiful but I also appreciate the other from Skold. Peters voice is strong and hypnotic.
the chorus portion with Peter's voice is a little over powering which I think should be turned down a tad bit but it does still work once the song gets going into the second verse.
Overall, this isn't a pissing contest between Murphy and Skold, we just need to listen and enjoy the song and appreciate the talent of both KMFDM and Murphy.
I love Peter Murphy. I loved Tim scold. I love this song. I just absolutely love this song.
Didnt know this existed! Awesome!
Hearing this track fade out without that segway into Witness by Nina Hagen is just weird.
Holy 🤫
It's here today..... Yey!! nice song!!
Me encanto
AH. Thanks for the info! It's still very respectable. :)
Exactly!
Peter Murphy was way better than Tim Skold on this one. I would like to hear a mix of the two of them together. Just to see what it would sounds like.
Супер! Super!
Wow, that was interesting. I didn't know Peter Murphy also sang this. I feel that Skold sang this WAAAAAY better, but this version is awesome too. Fun to hear it with a different vocalist.
Don't think I like it as much as the original, but I do LOVE this cover. It gives it a different feel and I have to say I respect both the original and Peter Murphy's version.
@AcidAngel7: Well, as I put in the notations, it's an alternate version they made around the same time as the original, not a remake as many people seem to think. If you listen closely, you can hear Skold still (The chorus in particular), so I'm thinking that PM's vocals were probably just recorded over the already finished product. At the very least, take it as an example of Sascha's need for experimentation, much like I do :)
Speaking of experimentation, I just listened to both songs simultaneously (both tracks mixed together via Audacity) and it was a trip. That undercurrent of Skold's vocals on PM's version combines nicely with Skold's vocals on his own version. Both of them together make for a neat duet. There's this slight echo (or something) with the electronics being fuller, too. Like you said, PM's vocals were just laid over the original in the first place and I'm glad they were. Would recommend.
WOW thats a good combination. They should have formed a side project.
I think Skold's vocals work a bit better, but Mr. Peter Murphy is capable of putting enough emotion into it that it works as well.
Great alternate track either way, though I prefer the version included on Adios more.
fucking amazing!!!
This version strikes me more
The "Godfather of Goth" Peter Murphy with the "Godfathers of Industrial" KMFDM. Wow. Guess this song's proof as to why the Gothic-Industrial culture exists. Enough said. =P
@arclight2012: This was actually recorded during Sascha K's work with PM on Recall
@wizotch You have a point but it's only an expression. Sascha apparently jokingly calls himself "the godfather of industrial". I'm aware of its true pioneers, but KMFDM mixes an early debut, popularity within the industrial scene and endurance to still be active: they'd actually fit in to a group of bands labelled the "kings of industrial".
Works for me.
Very interesting. I like it, but I think I am too accustomed to the original. I am obsessed with Skold's vocals with KMFDM and MDFMK, though.
Now this is cool. I dig the hell out of the entire "Adios" album, but I can't help but think this would have been absolutely dynamite on it.
sounds fuckin great,I likes it!
Peter Murphy's voice is sexy enough, but combined with KMFDM's beats, it's all just...better than chicken nuggets.
@theALmighty66: Discogs. com has it (F**kin RUclips won't let me link it)
@Gerhardt13 Thanks!
ahh i think it was the time period that sacha was helping peter with one of his solo albums. It might be on peters album?
Wow, after getting used to the normal version, this one really just... I dunno. It's great though.
Now I demand to hear Skold covering a Bauhaus track!
Hmmmm. Is there a link that'll show the complete list from this Unreleased and Rare section/album/feature?
Music seems muddy on this track. Hope it's remastered for clarity sometime.
thank you I appreciate that you uploaded this amazing song sounds like Unreal tournament music kmfdm sucks I love all.
This is amazing. I think the reason it was shelved though was because of his delivery with the early lyrics; seems off. Could have just re-recorded them, but perhaps he wasn't available by then. Too bad because other than that his version is stellar.
that link is no longer available , any suggestions?
Awesome cover, but the original version is better, more melanchonic and it gives you that eerie feeling i don't know how to explain.
+CyberNekotron It's not a cover. It was the original version.
...I understand your feeling all the same. ✌💚
I think the Sköld version is very cool and sad but the Murphy version is more upbeat and happy I think
This could be tailor-made for Peter Murphy.
I do prefer Skolds version more :D but PM version has a emotion approach to it :D both good though (skolds in the BG of this one aswell) :D
This is the original. LOL
hah not my fav but its peter murphy with kmfdm love both :)
I'd rather the Skold's version.
This is exactly what I was going to put, but I scrolled down and saw that it was already there!😎 Tim Skold is amazing! "Anarchy". And that's all I have to say!😉
Peter Murphy’s vocals are too over done and strong... Skold’s version has a sense of self pity and sorrow. It really give the track a better feel. It’s almost like Peter Murphy doesn’t belong on a KMFDM track... I’m actually surprised some Ogre tracks made the cut... because Ogre’s vocal style is nothing like KMFDM’s music...
But yeah Peter’s vocals are really powerful and the track is kinda depressing...
@@ericdufresne6991 remember how like six months before Adios, Peter Murphy released Recall like entirely produced by Konietzko and Skold? Seemed to fit in KMFDM music fine then.
Kevin B and I care because?????
@@ericdufresne6991 Stop expressing an opinion. You are clueless.
I added a Mediafire link for download ;)
@evolchicken09: Old as fuck, but still .. My "cunting nazi ass"? My cover art was done by BRUTE, the exact same person who's done KMFDM's cover art since late 1988. It's satire. If you don't know the word, you need a dictionary, and most importantly .. a fucking life.
Technically, it's not a cover. Sascha asked him to lay soome vocals for the KMFDM track, but I guess he didn't like them. :\
I won't debate over what bands were "serious" and what one's were not, but most of them were influential at the time and still are today. Furthermore, I find that such bickering just leads to even more elitism in the genre then what we have already (Which I believe needs to be done away with in it's entirety).
A notable example of this influence though would be Skolds hair metal band, Shotgun Messiah. The album "Violent New Breed" was able to catch both Sascha K and Mr. Mansons attention.
I'm in the minority here, but this version is... in my opinion... the superior version. Again, that subjective claim, not objective one.
oh dont get me wrong i understand the need for experimentation...as i love that idea as much as anyone would..its just a matter of opinion, in this case.
Like this version much better than the original with whiney Tim Skold
WTC
Ah the first argument I lost on the internet was about KMFDM. I was right, but I was so wrong. Let me also be wrong that PM missed his big break to collab more with this obtuse conflagration of consonants. Bela - vive la mort!
I prefer the original actually... Tim sounds more depressed and Peter sounds too powerful imo.
oh the chick isn't in here to ruin the song!!!!=)
Good, but not as good as the original. I like Peter Murphy and Bauhaus, and KMFDM working with him is great, we should see more of that.
Who the hell are you commenting to? O.o
The cover art, btw, is the work of Aiden Hughes, who has traditionally done all of KMFDM's artwork. And if your fag/nazi/capo comments are to me - I'm actually Serbian.
@Chao5INcarnate Yeah, I like Skold, too. But this version is better. The deliverance and vocal mixing are better in my opinion...
@orochiislaurenshero
haha... chicken nuggets...
@MintythecatIsABeast Dude... Bauhaus isn't goth or new wave or any of that man. You just can't put one lable on them 'cause they have many different and exparimental styles in their music. And I find that way better than any goth, new wave, punk etc. (I love it though) but their more like real artists to me
@isaacnelson1234 naaahh
The more I listen to this the more I like it better than Skold's version.
Skold is meant to do this one. I know why this was unreleased...eh.
No. Just, no. Original version is WAY better than this. Sorry PM.
wow, im sorry but this version sucks....skold singing was wayyy better at this..plus, it was there last album...you just cant duplicate that feeling of never making music with that group again...at least without him knowing it.
you know, I love Bauhaus and Dali's car/Peter Murphy but this song is hot fucking garbage compared to the OG
Nice vocals, but boring beats and instrumentation
Way better than Skold's version. But Tim Skold was a pretty terrible addition to KMFDM.
LMAO...wrong.
Tim Skold was an amazing addition to KMFDM. I only wish they made more. "be like me" off mdfmk is one of my favorite songs. To each their own though.
