As a teenager in the early to mid 1970's, I lived in Hatteras village. My step-dad ran a restaurant called Captain Peele's. I worked there filetting flounder and helped with prep work. We had a Captain's table and Bootsie Austin, Captain Clam, Captain Foster and many others would come in and drink coffee, eat lunch and chat about fishing and boats. I also was able to make good money filetting fish at the docks. I remember the large marlins hanging at the Marlin Club. Surfing was also something I thoroughly enjoyed. I attended school in Buxton. I was friends with Gaston Foster, Dee Hollis and many others. It was a great time for a teenager to grow up. I'm now in my 60's and have some wonderful memories of those years.
The sand Bar and Grill with the amazing view looks like a winner. Also pops raw Bar and Grill looks like a local favorite spot. This is a great guide thanks for sharing like #22
Agreed. Both of these places were so good. One for the great view - and the other for being a dive bar with surprisingly great food. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
You know if you have to wait it’s going to be good! Awesome that they don’t have a closed time, you know you’ll get in by the end of the night! Thanks for the suggestions!
We really enjoyed these restaurants during our trip to Hatteras Island. We had a great trip - and the good food made it even better. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
What a beautiful beach! Diamond Shoals looked so good. Seafood is always better at the beach so fresh. Sandbar and Grille looked good too. My grandson would have to play in that arcade.
The beach area on that island is gorgeous. And you are right about fresh seafood at the beach. It is much better when it is freshly caught and cooked. Lots of kids were enjoying the wait in that arcade at at Sandbar & Grille. Lot of husbands too. Thanks so much for watching our video and taking the time to comment!
Such a lovely place to go for vacation. The restaurants looks nice. The food looks delicious. Gorgeous beach. Great review! Thanks for showing us around. Fantastic video. Thumbs up! Have a great day!
The seafood in this beach resort area is usually so fresh and delicious! And Jack loves the barbecue at these places. Thanks so much for watching our restaurant review of the Outer Banks!
Jack's dad grew up visiting the Outer Banks in the 1950s and 60s with his parents. So it was interesting to hear from him about how much had changed over the years. We were glad he could join us on this trip. Thanks for watching and commenting!
We love the Outer Banks and always enjoy visiting the area. Thanks for watching our video about a few of the dining options on the Outer Banks. We are glad you enjoyed it!
The food everywhere you went looked delicious. Those crab cakes looked amazing. Making me want to take a trip to the ocean, well I always want to but now I have a real craving for seafood. Nice review and great how you showed the menus. Sometimes that information is hard to get.
You definitely should take a trip to the ocean as soon as you are able. We always love it and seafood available near the ocean is usually so fresh and delicious! Thanks for watching and for your kind comments!
Have to admit that the food pictures actually caught my attention more than the views of the places. 😂 Would be nice dine in one of those restaurants. 😋👍👍👌
Stopped at Diamond Shoals Restaurant during a quickly planned road trip in June of 2021. It was great, I wish I could remember waitress's name but she was awesome. I have fallen in love with the Outer Banks, which is shocking because I was born in Greensboro, NC but never made to the Outer Banks until I was a "seasoned citizen". I have missed out but trying to make up for it now. There are "NO" bad places in the Outer Banks to enjoy meals and history.
Yeah, we were in the mood for some local food - and sushi didn’t seem authentic to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. But everything we tried at these three places was delicious. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@trvlnthru I'm very late to this, but I'm watching these videos to sort of prep myself for our annual beach trip, and I will say that the sushi at Diamond Shoals is some of the best I've ever had. And honestly it makes sense, one of the most notable ingredients in sushi is generally some type of seafood
Really enjoying this series! Learning a lot. The prices look so good on the food after being at Universal studios! Looks delicious too! Thanks for the tour! :)
Yes, compared to Universal Studios (and Disney parks too for that matter), the prices seem very reasonable on the Outer Banks. LOL. The food was really good. It was great getting fresh seafood from the local area at a couple of these places. And the service was great at all three. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Our area is also experiencing staffing shortages. If the food is good, we don’t mind the wait. Sometimes the hole in the wall places are the BEST! Thanks for sharing your favorites restaurants while on your trip.
Next time you get down there, the Quarterdeck in Frisco has the best crab cakes and hush puppies I’ve ever eaten. Haven’t eaten at Dans ,but have the other two.
The fact that you didn't get the award winning claim chowder has Jess in a tizzy lol. Also, the wait time always gives away how great the food is! 45 minutes is crazy long 😳 everywhere looks super tasty though and if we ever go here, we'll definitely eat here! So glad you got to eat here and also got that time with your dad!
"As delicious as it is unhealthy" is kind of our go to on vacations. We have learned we can't live like that all the time though. LOL. Neither of us are really big clam chowder fans. So while it may be award winning, I am not sure we would have enjoyed it. It was awesome to spend time with Jack's dad. He doesn't get to travel much any more like he did when he was a bit younger so it was nice for him to be able to join us on our trip. Thanks so much for watching!
All these houses are huge there i bet it is not cheap. I heard Vegas is also having the shortage of staff. I bet there is so much great seafood there!!!! So cool you guys were able to travel with Dad. Can’t beat that view for sure. How often do you guys go to the Outerbanks?
Yeah those huge beach houses are quite expensive. They have some smaller ones that are more reasonable but even then you are paying for beachfront (or almost beachfront) property. It was really cool being able to travel with Jack's dad. He really seemed to enjoy the trip. We used to go to the Outer Banks once a year. They are only a couple of hours drive east from our house. But once we started this channel, we take trips there twice a year to create more content. We really do love the area! Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I am sure the staffing thing will work itself out. But it does make finding restaurants in some resort towns more difficult than usual. The food here was all so delicious. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Staff shortages seems to be a theme these days. People collecting more on unemployment than working is not an incentive to work a job unfortunately. I love the views by the blue restaurant. I didn't catch the name. The food looked good at Pop's. I responded to your comment on one of my videos but it wouldn't post my response. I've had that twice this week for some reason.
Agreed. It is a mess. I hope the powers that be get it together and work it out so that we can go back to helping people who need it without disincentivizing them to return to work as jobs come available. So many of the restaurants and hotels on the Outer Banks have such great views. There are a lot of places on the islands where it is hard to find a good view. I have seen that very same thing happen a couple times too - where we try to respond to a comment and it won't post. Hopefully they are figuring that out and fixing it. Thanks for watching!
We are hoping the staffing shortages are a short term problem. But we were still able to enjoy some good meals on our trip even though we couldn't get in every restaurant we wanted to try. The food at these three places really was delicious. Thanks for watching!
We had no luck at all finding anyplace to eat in the northern part of the Outer Banks when we were there at this same time. Everything was either closed or so packed, we wouldn't have felt comfortable eating there. Also, I don't think my kids would have liked any of these places. Overall, we were very disappointed and frustrated with dining in the Outer Banks. They definitely need more family restaurants.
Yeah, it was a chore finding places open and with seats and that weren’t packed. It usually isn’t so difficult. I agree they could use more family restaurants. What were y’all able to find to eat while you were there?
The staffing shortages make sense. The island is very far from any grocery stores or apartment buildings that would be affordable enough to house the people that work there, The island is 200 miles of beach front properties. People don't live there year round. It's not a normal city
True. The Outer Banks used to have a lot of help from people who traveled from other countries to work summers on the islands. That stopped for a few years due to Covid. I am not sure whether the international workers have come back in the last couple years or not. Thanks for watching!
We have heard good things about Hatterasman but didn't make it there this trip. We will plan to check it out on our next visit. Thanks for the suggestion!

That is so true. The best places are the ones with the longest lines. But good seafood is worth waiting for. Thanks so much for watching!
Nice info on Hatteras Island. Have a great week.
It is such a lovely island. We love sharing it with people on our channel. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Lots of tasty eats, in this video 😋
We really enjoyed these restaurants during our trip to Hatteras Island. We had a great trip - and the good food made it even better. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

The seafood in this beach resort area is usually so fresh and delicious! And Jack loves the barbecue at these places. Thanks so much for watching our restaurant review of the Outer Banks!
Like 15! I don’t think I have ever been to this island! Thanks for the look!
Hatteras Island is awesome. We have a few more videos about it in the next few weeks. There is a lot to love there! Thanks so much for watching!
Oh how nice that dad got to go with you 🤗Jenn
Jack's dad grew up visiting the Outer Banks in the 1950s and 60s with his parents. So it was interesting to hear from him about how much had changed over the years. We were glad he could join us on this trip. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Beautiful place, nice vlog, Thanks for sharing
The Outer Banks really are a gorgeous vacation spot. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Nice review on all of these restaurants.
We had some great meals on our recent Outer Banks trip. We are glad you enjoyed our reviews. Thanks for watching!
Nice little arcade there too, awesome! 🎮💯🙋
Now I want some fried cheese curds...🎭🧀🍻
Yeah, the arcade was fun and the food was delicious. We did some good eating on this trip. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Cool, look so good! Thanks for the video!
We love the Outer Banks and always enjoy visiting the area. Thanks for watching our video about a few of the dining options on the Outer Banks. We are glad you enjoyed it!
Oh my, I'm dying for some good Crab cakes now!!!!! Thanks for sharing us these Restaurants guys 😊
The seafood on the Outer Banks is so fresh and delicious. And that crabcake was one of the best we've ever had. Thanks so much for watching!
Sandbar Grill looks like a nice place with a great view. Pops looks like many of the places that line the coast of Northern California.
Sandbar Grill really did have a great view and some good seafood. We had several great meals on our trip. Thanks so much for watching!
Just got back from there….Rusty’s surf and turf was awesome
The food everywhere you went looked delicious. Those crab cakes looked amazing. Making me want to take a trip to the ocean, well I always want to but now I have a real craving for seafood. Nice review and great how you showed the menus. Sometimes that information is hard to get.

The area is beautiful… but yeah, the food is delicious. We had some very good meals at these restaurants. Thanks so much for watching!
Wow the island looks great, I bet you'll have loads to say about it!
The islands of the Outer Banks really are gorgeous! Thanks for checking out our reviews! Hope you are doing well.
Great footage and very well made channel. Keep up the awesome work!

Clam chowder, fried shrimp, pulled pork sandwich, potato skins, seafood platter, fried fish sandwich - yes!
Sushi - NO!!!!!!!!!
Nice job, guys!!! lol God bless and have a great week.. :)

Hole in the wall places really are great sometimes. This one in particular was great! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

If you go inside the lighthouse, it has a marble plaque that says "Body's Island."
Fascinating. We will have to look for that when we are next in town. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment!

We literally went hungry! We had one fast food meal while we were in the Outer Banks. It was really bad. More details coming in a future video!
You ordered a BBQ sandwich at a fish market/seafood restaurant. Bet you ordered Unsweet tea too.
Is the sand bar near Avon?
Yes! It is in Buxton which is just a few miles south of Avon. Thanks for watching!

We have heard good things about Hatterasman but didn't make it there this trip. We will plan to check it out on our next visit. Thanks for the suggestion!
Lots of tasty eats, in this video 😋
We did have some fresh seafood and great barbecue when we visited the Outer Banks. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
