These trucks have a special place in my heart as my dad owned 2 of them and sold both of them. Missed them as i would go everywhere with him in this truck. Glad to see this truck has been preserved in such good condition
I have a 97 Hardbody, 496,000 miles and still going., Not nearly as clean as your find but its been a awesome truck. I drive it everywhere, farm, city, you name it.
Dude!! So awesome, like I said before I bought my 98 Ranger back in March with 155k miles and in perfect condition to do some mods with but also save on as daily driver. Can’t wait to see what you do to it
Those trucks are like gold in Mexico due to the fact that gas has always been stupid expensive there. That and the fact that you can load them down with all types of construction material or farming equipment and they don’t hesitate to run
The first truck I bought was a ‘92 Hardbody. Best decision I’ve ever made. I put 350,000 miles on her. Blacked outed. Even in the early nineties. Yeah every Mexican I met wanted to buy her. Congratulations on the purchase!
Love to see trucks that have been taken care of. Too many people just neglect their own vehicles. Hope you get to enjoy this truck for many years to come!
This is awesome! I had a 92 a couple years ago that I had a ton of stuff done to. Lowered, exhaust, tint etc. Absolutely the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Working on and modifying these trucks is usually cheap and parts are super available. Happy for you man go enjoy that thing!
I love these trucks. My dad bought a brand new one in 1994. He drove it several years. I bought it from him. I kept it for many years. I hit a deer and messed up the fender and hood. I finally got rid of it because I didn't want to fix it. My friend bought it and totally replaced the front fenders and hood. He painted it and sold it. I was read for something bigger. I still look for them sometimes on Craiglist. They are awesome trucks just not big enough for hauling the family around.
SO CLEAN! My dad owned 4 during my childhood and my grandfather was a service manager for Nissan/Datsun for 55 years. These trucks hold a near and dear spot in my heart.
Love it! I daily a 2000 Tacoma 2.4l 5 speed my dad owned before me. Interior is mint but the truck has been in 10 accidents so yeah but it gets 28mpg and has 252k and is still going strong.
Dude, that is an awesome find. Truck looks immaculate for its age. I always did like the looks of the hard body. My brother owned 2 of them, unfortunately his last one was totaled so he bought a Tacoma, now has a tundra. Great looking truck. I wouldnt do much to it, but then again this youtube so you have to.
I’ve had a few of these currently have a slammmed one… finding a hardbody with plastic not busted around the steering column is very rare… and then you have that mint interior man hell of a find
I just bought a single cab 89 a few months ago. Love it, so simple and easy to drive, I average about 24 combined. Titan wheels do fit but the center bore has to be widened to fit. I plan to do some maxis buckshot mudders in a 27x8.5x14 on mine keeping it simple.
I have the same truck - only mine is a 95 XE I bought new in 95. The XE means extended cab and gets you that extra space behind the front seats and the small fold down seats. Mine is an OBD1 and the computer is under the passenger seat. Faults are read by decoding LEDs on the computer. I think yours is too. If you remove the air cleaner, be careful not to damage the wires that go to the air temp sensor. There is a plug to disconnect but not much slack. The oil filter is a PITA to get to. I remove the front passenger tire and lift up the rubber inner fender splash guard for access. I read the 4cyl engines were much better than the V6 ones. Good luck and have fun with your truck.
I just picked up a 86 single cab, rust free too. I feel your excitement I went through exact same! I live in Wisconsin where they DUMP salt on roads I sprayed the whole underside with undercoat and before I did it was insanely clean.
Nothing like some old school Nissan trucks/SUVs. My dads got a ‘07 Xterra 4x4 Off Road Package (the year before the PRO4X) that he ordered from factory with a manual. You either see manual and no options or options and no manual. Both the WD22 and N50 Xterra’s are entirely slept on or called college girl SUVs. Little does the average critic of Nissan (which is arguably easy since the death of the Xterra in 2015) know just how well built their SUVs and trucks CAN be or were in the past. Can’t wait to see more old school Nissan content 🤙🏻
I have a 86.5 D21 and a 88 WD21 and you are way lucky to find one in good shape they are usually beaten up. Yeah they are not fast but are very reliable. I havent driven one so new but the older ones give you the feeling of piloting something instead of driving it.NICE TRUCK
It's a great engine. Good torque and bulletproof. I had a 93 4x4, thing went everywhere no problem. Also, my neighbor when I was young had one just like that.
It’s a Nissan, of course everything works!!! I’m a ford guy through and through but the Nissan and Toyota vehicles are by far built to last!! What a beautiful truck, nice job!! 👍
Titan wheels have the same lug pattern, but they need the center hub bored out to fit on the D21. There’s a few videos on RUclips that shows how to bore them out with a router. The KA24E is a great engine, I’m currently building a turbo kit for one. With the right parts they can handle 500hp.
Love it. I live in Hawaii and this place is crawling with hardbodies. See a lot of them slammed on there nuts with like tiny 15 inch alcoas or MTs on stretched street tires. Exited to see what’s in store for it!
My dad has been one of these. 400,000+ miles, it’s been rolled multiple times, factory engine and the manual transmission has been replaced only once. These are indestructible truck
I bought a ‘97 Hardbody new with the Xtra Cab like this one. 5spd i4. Same truck except mine was red/beige. Told them I didn’t want the goofy graphics on the side (the graphics on mine were bigger and more obnoxious). They remove them for me. I see online people calling their ‘97s and even earlier models “Frontiers.” When I bought it it wasn’t called anything but a Truck. No “Frontier” badging anywhere. 1998 was the first year for the Frontiers and new styling. I much preferred the Hardbody styling. Jump seats in the back were cool. It wasn’t a macho truck by any stretch but I certainly pushed it beyond its limits and it never complained. Mine wasn’t babied though and rusted pretty severely especially the bed. I think I sold it in 2012. Still ran great.
I got a beater 1997 Toyota 4Runner with 278k, it’s taken a beating but runs like a champ and 4WD works beautifully through all the trails and river bottoms. Definitely love the simplicity of an “older” vehicle. 👍
I have a 98 The frame is very rusted and scary, out of fear I’ve been just driving in town. Not highway. I love it so much, no one will fix the frame, can’t bear to junk it.
@@adammalzahn7238 Mine is strictly my off road junker, it’s technically totaled because it was rear ended and the frame bent but only paid $1000 for it. It does great through all the tight and narrow trails I take it through and just keeps running after every beating it gets
So my husband and I watch your videos and we were watching this video a few minutes ago and saw a very familiar landmark! The Yourway Furniture you were parked at was only 5 minutes away from our house! You actually had to pass our house to go to where you picked up the truck!! That’s soo awesome! Love the truck btw!
Just picked one up 2 weeks ago and already put the titans and lowered it! Titans fit perfect you just have to bore the center out an inch bigger and deeper. I got 18’s because i heard that lowered on 20’s it doesnt ride as nice
love seeing the videos of your dad always going with you to look at the trucks reminds me of my dad and i bond with trucks but it was just silverados weve owned but sadly lost my dad back in November 2021 and the past 8 months now i just be thinking back on all the memories my dad and i made together
I had a 1988 Mazda B2200 single cab 4cyl 5 speed manual. Crank windows, bench seat. It was a fun truck to drive. Also rode in a 1990 nissan king cab as a kid and the jump seats were the best.
On road trips in Utah and Idaho the speed limit is 80 and traffic is usually moving 85. My 93 keeps up just fine even loaded with tools and gets 22mpg on a regular basis.
Dummy buttons are for optional electric mirrors (big blank right below the vent) and cruise control and I believe something for auto locking hubs or something like that on the 4x4s
Hey chase I am making sure I am talking to you through the telegram app ? I got a email from RUclips saying I’ve been selected for a prize to contact you through their so just making sure I am talking to you.. I hope you see this message
I am acquiring my Father's 1997 in a few days. same model, just beige color. been garage kept and never wrecked. i would say 90% condition. no tears in seats either. i am probably going to update front and rear lamps to LED. will be my running around town truck when i do not want to ride motorcycle
❤best truck you wilm ever get i have same yr. Drove it frm oregon all the way to sinaloa mexico w/no issues and still hauling very noble truck as long as you dont do burns out it will last you at least 2 generations jusk keep up the mainteaince and will naver give hit ups
Dont change nothing and keep in mind the only problem i've had was the timi g belt hidrolic but was easy fix only use origanal parts after markets not worth it
Nice ride , oil prices are falling , and gas prices are falling as well , Bear in mind you have a 145.79 cu-in engione straight-4, making about 140 Horsepower , so when you do mods like big tires and stuff , you will be putting strain on the engine , drivetrain , axles etc and could cause something to break It cannot do what the Sierra can do , and you will lose MPG going to big tires , so try to stay with factory size wheels Paint the toolbox , body color or black , custom LED lighting if available
Love the hardbody !!! My buddy had one in highschool ( we all had mini trucks ) slammed them etc , he jerry rigged his was slammed like in or 2 off ground , 2 point where he zip tied the gas tank in the bed of the truck he just relocated it w bungies lol…
I have a final year 97 also. I love my D21. Mine is just like yours except it's white. I also have a bed box. I've changed all my lights all around and inside to LED, lowered it 2", and it's sitting on 18 inch Tacoma TRD Wheels.
First truck was a mint 97 hardbody 4x4 black extended cab with the five speed. Being a stupid teenager I flipped it on a dirt road. Miss that truck every day
These trucks have a special place in my heart as my dad owned 2 of them and sold both of them. Missed them as i would go everywhere with him in this truck. Glad to see this truck has been preserved in such good condition
wow
My Dad had a nice green 1997 Nissan truck with a grey interior that I grew up riding inside of but he sold it.
Can’t wait to see what you do to it
Ready to see what you have in store for this sweet hard body! Congrats on purchase!
Those trucks are like gold in Mexico due to the fact that gas has always been stupid expensive there. That and the fact that you can load them down with all types of construction material or farming equipment and they don’t hesitate to run

My dad had many big trucks but he loved his green ‘74 Datsun truck. It tickled him how fun it was and cheap on gas too.

I have a1996 with 78,000
Love it! I daily a 2000 Tacoma 2.4l 5 speed my dad owned before me. Interior is mint but the truck has been in 10 accidents so yeah but it gets 28mpg and has 252k and is still going strong.
They don’t make them like that anymore , I had a 98 ranger lifted w flow masters etc , , hit another car I was young and stupid and kept on ticking
28 mpg is pretty fuckin good for mini trucks. my 94 d21 4x4 auto gets 15 MAX
Dude, that is an awesome find. Truck looks immaculate for its age. I always did like the looks of the hard body. My brother owned 2 of them, unfortunately his last one was totaled so he bought a Tacoma, now has a tundra. Great looking truck. I wouldnt do much to it, but then again this youtube so you have to.
it’s so versatile. i have a 1995 single cab auto and a 1994 king cab manual. great truck and great community presence on facebook
I’ve had a few of these currently have a slammmed one… finding a hardbody with plastic not busted around the steering column is very rare… and then you have that mint interior man hell of a find
I have a 95 sitting in my garage that was my dads. Those trucks become part of the family! ❤
welcome to the tiny truck world chase!! wish you got a ranger like mine but i love the hardbody my dad had a few back in his day
I just bought a single cab 89 a few months ago. Love it, so simple and easy to drive, I average about 24 combined. Titan wheels do fit but the center bore has to be widened to fit. I plan to do some maxis buckshot mudders in a 27x8.5x14 on mine keeping it simple.
That’s crazy bro I have a friend with a 2022 civic and he averages 22.3mpg. My dad has an 81 Datsun and they’re really economic

hell yeah 30 mpg , drop it with nice wheels ,make it like a lowrider🤙
My grandad has a 99 Frontier as his work truck and you can’t beat an old Nissan. Love the truck! Cool to see something different
So ready to see chomper with the new headers
Yes
Hopefully he puts high flow cats
Same
It's a great engine. Good torque and bulletproof. I had a 93 4x4, thing went everywhere no problem. Also, my neighbor when I was young had one just like that.
Love these trucks! Had a 97 single cab black manual. These truck run forever! But in the Midwest, they rust out quick 😩. Good find

Yessir!! Very excited to see the future mods you’ve got for this truck!
I have a '97 4x4 5 speed king cab like this one. 90,000 miles. Very clean. I fluid film it every year. It needs 50 extra horsepower and a 6th gear.
Power can’t compare to what you’re used to but those motors are strong for what they are. Peak torque is @ 3600 with 80% coming on at 1000 rpm.
Just picked one up 2 weeks ago and already put the titans and lowered it! Titans fit perfect you just have to bore the center out an inch bigger and deeper. I got 18’s because i heard that lowered on 20’s it doesnt ride as nice
Luv It for sure.Really awesome find, and a manual...oh man !!
It's a must for you to put the titan rims on! It's the perfect setup
love seeing the videos of your dad always going with you to look at the trucks reminds me of my dad and i bond with trucks but it was just silverados weve owned but sadly lost my dad back in November 2021 and the past 8 months now i just be thinking back on all the memories my dad and i made together

Love the truck I had a 95 model that I miss dearly
Dang man for a 97 that’s really clean. Hope you keep it.
I had a 94. Best mileage I ever got on highway was 28. Tough little trucks. Miss mine.
On road trips in Utah and Idaho the speed limit is 80 and traffic is usually moving 85. My 93 keeps up just fine even loaded with tools and gets 22mpg on a regular basis.

Hello, yes 97 was the last year for an the har body,98 was the first gen FRONTIER.. congratulations.
another king cab on the road.
perfect lil truck , with cheap mods will look so nice fun little thing
Damn that truck is very nice for its age... Sweet find something like that you can't pass up
I know I’m late to the video but you either gotta bore the center out of the titan wheels up to I wanna say 4” bore or run spacers to clear
Omg super excited to see this truck on your channel your going to give us something different for sure congrats on the truck !
Hey chase I am making sure I am talking to you through the telegram app ? I got a email from RUclips saying I’ve been selected for a prize to contact you through their so just making sure I am talking to you.. I hope you see this message
Is that your girls' new project truck? Nice little truck. It could be slammed. You gotta be havin' fun man, keep it up!
Congratulations man! Looking forward to seeing more of it!
PS: you should name it Franklin 🤷🏼♂️😅
I love small trucks like this, you got a great deal!
I am acquiring my Father's 1997 in a few days. same model, just beige color. been garage kept and never wrecked. i would say 90% condition. no tears in seats either. i am probably going to update front and rear lamps to LED. will be my running around town truck when i do not want to ride motorcycle
Wasn’t expecting that!!! And my buddy had a truck just like that slammed it with cool wheels looked neat and that’s coming from a lifted truck guy
check to see if the passenger wheel well/ inner fender splash guard is there. a lot of these trucks are missing those and the steering column cover.
Definitely put the toolbox on chomper and maybe a Tonneau cover on the Nissan
My dad used to have one of these it was a manual but man they’re fun to drive!
Always wanted one just like that. When mini trucks were all the craze. Good stuff man
❤best truck you wilm ever get i have same yr. Drove it frm oregon all the way to sinaloa mexico w/no issues and still hauling very noble truck as long as you dont do burns out it will last you at least 2 generations jusk keep up the mainteaince and will naver give hit ups

Dude, that's a sweet sweet in shape ride! I have a '95 (vids on the channel) in great shape, but this one is truly flawless.
Nice ride , oil prices are falling , and gas prices are falling as well , Bear in mind you have a 145.79 cu-in engione straight-4, making about 140 Horsepower , so when you do mods like big tires and stuff , you will be putting strain on the engine , drivetrain , axles etc and could cause something to break

Paint the toolbox , body color or black , custom LED lighting if available
Nice hardbody, cool u bought a minitruck
And yes they sound really good with an exhaust set up done to them
Pretty sweet little truck. excited to see what you do with it🤟
Oh sheyt that is mint af. Lowered on 18 wheels and rollpan will transform the look big time.
Such a sick truck i had a red 97 hardbody se not long ago
Since it’s still a 6 lug truck, you should play around with the 22s or wides just for fun and see what happens
Like the Northwest Missouri State University plate on front! Keep up the good work man!
damn classic right there brother
this is so sick gotta do clears for sure all around. Tri spokes would be cool to see on this build too.
Congrats on the buy. Nice and clean truck.
Love the hardbody !!! My buddy had one in highschool ( we all had mini trucks ) slammed them etc , he jerry rigged his was slammed like in or 2 off ground , 2 point where he zip tied the gas tank in the bed of the truck he just relocated it w bungies lol…
My first brand new vehicle was a 95 extended cab truck just like that one only in black. Damn I miss that truck. I loved it
3 or 4 inch lift with new rims and mud graps that would look good
The real fans support screw no matter what truck he buys. Keep it up.
Keep it stock and treat it well... that truck will probably outlive you.
Hardbody Hyyyyyyype, I’m lookin forward to this one for sure. Awesome find
The montage that you revealed it at, right across the street is my job site. I was like hold up. This looks familiar!😂
Baddest truck on the channel
All I’m saying it needs is a leveling kit and some bigger tires!! It’s super clean man!! Keep up the vids
Can’t wait to see what you do to the “Green Bean”!!!! Love your channel
We had a ‘98 s10 with one flip down rear seat. My youngest sister had the seat, the other had pillows for seats
I had a 95 and regret selling it to this day!
Chomper is one badass truck time to put them header on and the newer truck is badass as well
Does the right dash have an airbag?
A good thing about it is you have Chevy wheels and you can bolt them right up on this truck
I really like this generation on Nissan trucks. That color is more 90's than a Ranger Splash.
What did you end up paying ? How do you like it 1 year later? I'm looking to get one myself
If Titan trim levels retroactively apply to the Hardbody, the XE trim is base base.
What a cool truck though! Love the green and how clean it is.
could be like the Chevy's, where LT used to be the top of the line back in the day, and now its right next to the work truck trim 😂
Miss that truck every day
Chomper, Larry, and that truck looks like a Jerry (reliable and you know he has a 401k and taken care of just mr. Practical) lol
From Clifford to a Hardbody 😂. Great truck can’t wait to see this!
I drive a 95 hardbody and it’s very clean build I put quality first on it but they are kinda awful on gas but they can make power easily with turbos
When I was a kid my dad had a Mazda truck and me and my brother be back there looking at each other 😂 ps its same as Chevy 6 lug too.
Heck ya love the truck beautiful definitely take the tool box out
super super good hardbory
Just bought a flawless one as well for sale in Oregon
