Sorry but this is the fault of this committee to not have any legal recourse for forcing their guests to answer their questions under penalty of fines or trade embargos, etc. If these guests have no penalty put to them for not answering the question and treating the discussion with contempt of unwillingness to engage, then whats the point of inviting them? They can just keep doing this under no penalties what so ever. So until you create actual rules with teeth to them, expect the same thing every time.

Are 'we' imprisoning peaceful protesters and selling arms to murderers? Does the head of HMRC have an offshore account, just like the people who 'invite him to lunch'? The committee should request and itemise relevant information that executives should submit to the committee before the meeting. These obfuscating tactics are used in so many meetings. In the example of a ballot that information is available from Amazon and the relevant trade unions. The demands are also available less formally from spokespeople at picket lines. Both sides, Amazon executives and the committee could get to the issue much quicker to reach a resolution. The process is unsatisfactory as it allows wriggle room to avoid answering questions. That should be tightened up.
Just because 4 people say it's such a "great" place to "work" doesn't mean shit. I was upset and then the fired me because I kept throwing up and told me I had TOT and I let my manager know and he gave me a damn garbage can and told me to throw up in there and I was surrounded by a group of people. I was embarrassed because if I did the closest person to me was 3 feet away left and right so to throw up in front of them was so embarrassing! Then they fired me for being sick while I was at work.
Stuart Morgan and Jennifer Kearney really fumbled that committee hearing. But Amazons shareholders were cheering. Will confidence in humane treatment of its workers affect Amazons share price?
They didnt fumble anything. That was classic US corporate evasion tactics. They are trained how to do this. Sure they look uncomfortable but nothing gets said ands nothing gets done. They get a good bonus. Watch any senate hearing in the US where corporates are involved. Every question is answered with "I don't have that information with me right now and I'll be happy to get it to your team in the near future!"
This raises the question... "why do they not want to answer the question"? If the question WAS answered truthfully, how in there minds do they see the company being adversely affected (legally or otherwise) from it?
My brother-in-law worked in an Amazon warehouse in the past. He said that everybody was forced to wear a watch on their wrist that measured their efficiency compared to others. If you slacked of a bit, the watch would notify supervisors and they would come to you with a warning lol

They may be well aware that they have more in common with the workers they're selling out than Jeff Bezos but have no other practical/marketable skills. Sounds like a horrible choice to have to make, "Be evil or live in poverty."
The purpose of representatives is to protect the brand. Answering any questions directly would smeer the brand.
Oh it's even more cruel than that ! They do not follow any personal or moral stance. They were trained with cues in order to avoid answering this specific type of question, in hopes of confusing their audience and saving the company's ass.
The staff in the clouds with the fat pay check have no idea what the front line workers deal with. The ones who make their wages possible in the first place.
"Why did they strike?"
"Yes..."
They didnt squirm at all. Hardly even blinked.
here is proof that corporate executives are absolutely full of shit!
Anyone I know that worked for Amazon only worked there as a stop gap and couldn't wait to get out. Look at the vans. There's not a van without a damaged side. Drivers are racing about trying to meet targets. Management think they can treat staff like they do in the USA.
These people should be jailed for not answering direct questions, just as anyone in a court.
The level of duplicity necessary to perform the job of defending Amazon is beyond comprehension.
We've talked to specially selected staff members who all said it's the best place to work. And they would work for less money and employee rights.
Probably with a threat of firing if they don't.
@@hammerofolympia3716 nah they will only speak with in training supervisor peeps.
The clicky bunch. The rest can go get f'd
Who regularly snitch on anyone who is deemed a trouble maker…
@JM-yd9sm yep we've all worked with those types
It's like they're speaking two different languages.
Delay,deny, defend.
I can tell you why. They have the highest turn around of workers of any com0any. Most people dont get more than 6 months work there before being let go. It is cheaper to hire new employees than to give raises to employees. Even their ceo has come out and said this. Its common knowledge.
And that’s why I don’t buy from amazon and never will
They dont need you 😂
Do not forget that the wealth companies like Amazon create is what pays benefits for lazy bums like you.
@@MA-gg9inliterally not the point, but keep on riding Bezos💀
@@R__Aand what is the point Mr. CEO? Oh right you're not a CEO
Typical corporation in 2024. Worst thing is the governments are supporting the dismantling of employees rights and pay increases
Time to boycott the likes of Amazon.
Already do boycott these exploiters
What will be done after this hearing?
I see the Destroyer of High Streets has taken on one of the Stepford Wives. Can it get any more hideous.
I wish American reporters would refuse to let our politicians dodge questions like that! I haven’t heard one actually answer a question in 40yrs.
Her Sardonic smile says it all!
MPs getting frustrated at people not answering the questions put to them, how ironic.
Well, that's stopped me from using Amazon again. A holes.
Where can I watch this in full?
That’s what i was thinking i came from tiktok thinking the full version would be on RUclips
Probably the Parliament channel.
Those outside the UK are probably SOL, just like those in the UK with other countries' government activity.
RUclips getting paid by Amazon because I looked this video all type of names and this is all I got
@@lva6679 it's Parliament, so it'll probably be on the Parliament channel.
Seeing the other comments is pretty cringe: "I couldn't find it on social media sO tHeRe MuSt bE a CoNsPiRaCy" 🤦♂️
@@geroffmilan3328 As leaps of logic go though it's barely a hop to suggest that corporations would do such a thing.
2:07 uncle Ruckus in the back shaking his head man. We need this episode!!!
These corperates act like the the presidents who debate eachother. Never answering or dodging the question. 😂😂😂
My respect to the politicians doing their homework and not tolerating the evasion of answering questions. Great work of those politicians who handle very well the evasion of answering questions.
Where's Luigi Mangione when you need him?
Ok so whats the point of this? The guy should take them up on their invite and spontaneously go right then to speak to people then try another location and speak to more people. Talk about doing your job lazily..."i feel like im pulling teeth" really?? Do you have background in medical or dental to even make that statement. Too lazy to get up out his committee seat to speak to people face to face about his questions would give him a better idea of what he is asking for. As an representative of a business she answered correctly she extended an invitation for him to see first hand whats going on. If it were a court of law how could she speak for others as to why people use their rights to help make their work a better place to be at. Hope this isnt tax payers money paying for this guy to feel like he is a judge smh🙄
The Super-Wealthy when everyone else is doing ok; 😡
The Super-Wealthy when your children go to bed Hungry; 😊
If they answered truthfully, it would mean they acknowledge the problem exists. They don't get paid to acknowledge the problem. They get paid to bury the problem.
I’m supposed to feel bad for Amazon workers? Give me a break. You people obviously haven’t been to any countries in Asia. Also, explain to me why an unskilled manual laborer deserves $30 an hour.
At amazon, you're supposed to pretend like the problems don't exist or you get fired. 🙈🙉🙊
Just pointing out that the team speaking for Amazon - after multiple strikes - says firmly that they "do not know" why Amazon workers are striking. Of course, they are lying, but the fact that they propose that they have no idea what Amazon workers' grievances are says EVERYTHING!
In a lost episode of The Twilight Zone,a man foolishly asked"If the judiciary was so bent that corporations could do whatever they liked with impunity and immunity, what would that actually look like?"....and here we are.
Has Paula Vennells' passport been siezed? Is she in prison, awaiting sentencing?
Have Fujitsu been banned from all further UK govt contracts?
How many of their execs are serving time in UK prisons?
Are 'we' imprisoning peaceful protesters and selling arms to murderers?
Does the head of HMRC have an offshore account, just like the people who 'invite him to lunch'?
Has anyone seen the Disney film where putting a cross in a box every 5 years somehow magically persuaded all the vampires and ticks to stop feeding on us and crushing our future? It's on BBC1 every day.
Corporations aren't scared yet
Nostradamus says, nothing will change while those that own the means of production own the means of production(people).
If this is how she talks to employees it’s no wonder they get nowhere.
I've seen enough of this bullshit questioning.
That Amazon female is so very shroud. If the panel thinks they are getting answers think again.
Amazon Reps are shady af.
Imagine lying and being in contempt of the committee to try and save face for your mass global employer who frankly couldn't care less about you.
They've not answered questioned to save their own salary and thrown the lower workers right under the bus...
Shows how pointless these committees have been made. Corporations are the new governments now. And they control how much regulation they will allow.
The US have all bad memorys 😂
I’m not even allowed to take sick days at Amazon I have to use my PTO.
So sad for you I'm a security guard and I can't even use my paid sick days. Stop complaining and get another job entitled
Don't you just love it when people from England can barely speak the English language clearly?🤔
Just because 4 people say it's such a "great" place to "work" doesn't mean shit. I used to work for Amazon and when I got sick I ran to the bathroom because I was throwing up and the bathroom was soooo fucking far! Like me running as if I was shitting myself was still hella far and I told my boss I was sick I want to use the last 4 hrs of the day while I had a lot of sick hours wanted to go and he told me no. And he let a lot of females leave because they wanted to.
Security through obfuscation Jennifer Kearney
Amazon spokespeople always seem so dead inside.
What a joke
Is there anywhere we can see the full hearing? Would love to see the entire thing!
Where's the whole long version of this
Stuart Morgan and Jennifer Kearney really fumbled that committee hearing.
They didn't fumble anything, they were trained to answer those questions by not answering them.
Ultimately, nothing will be done about it.
This raises the question... "why do they not want to answer the question"? If the question WAS answered truthfully, how in there minds do they see the company being adversely affected (legally or otherwise) from it?
All I've ever heard is that Amazon is a terrible place to work!
The congresswoman is everyone's dream team member. Has done her due diligence, brilliant, just crushed them.
My brother-in-law worked in an Amazon warehouse in the past. He said that everybody was forced to wear a watch on their wrist that measured their efficiency compared to others. If you slacked of a bit, the watch would notify supervisors and they would come to you with a warning lol
You have no idea how consistent these people are at NOT answering direct questions
They are planning on replacing all humans with robots at their warehouses. No hunger, no bathroom breaks, no sleep needed, and no complaining.
