This video allowed me to fix my outlet that had been broken for the past 3 months. My kid kicked it out and I just needed to put it back in place.
    Thx you so much

For 2014 Grand Cherokee (WK2), the attachment of the wiring harness is easier if the vent housing is removed. After the 6 screws are removed (2 top, 2 bottom, 2 sides), the rear of the outlet is exposed and the attachment of the harness is simplified.

For 2014 GC Overland, the part number is 56046934AA and the outlet is four prong

How do you take the outlet out? Can you take it out from the front or do you have to take the console out?

So your Grand Cherokee is a 2012 or 2013?
Looking around online, it appears the 2014 and up use a newer version, one number up, the 56046934AA, and it's about twice as expensive (and maybe has four pins on the internal cable/plug?).
But I'm hoping the installation is as easy as yours looks. Mine was broken when I bought it (used), and of course I want to replace it.

mine is 2013, and if you don’t know for sure, i would pull it out before i replace it. It most likely has a part number on it.

@@mygiguser - Good idea! I'm pretty sure from what I found online, but that's a good point about taking it out first to check. Looks quick and easy enough that I should be able to do that without a bunch of hassle waiting for the replacement part to ship. (I didn't want to disassemble the entire center console and then either put it back together or have it apart while waiting -- but it looks like I shouldn't have to take the whole thing apart, which is excellent news!)
Thanks for this video and your response! (And I appreciate the 4K resolution!)

@@quarans08 Thanks. I don't even remember now; I just did what someone else suggested above and took it out and I think it had the part number on it. Whatever it was, I ordered the replacement and installed it with little drama. I remember it was a bit tough and annoying to get the back panel off and work around it, but not tough-tough like some of the dashboards I've had to deal with in other cars. And it was surprisingly hard and annoying to get that back panel to snap back on completely when I was done.

@@Dan-Black Yeah that ducting, I took only four screws off and just opened it slightly, managed to take the plug out just to realize I need a different one, popping it back in was harder then expected but not too difficult

probably too late for this comment, but if it helps use some type of flat head screwdriver to pop the tabs on the console and it will slide out. It takes a little bit of strength to pop them out. I started from the bottom sides and then worked my way up. Even after popping out the console the outlet itself is pretty difficult to unhook. Use a Philips screwdriver to unscrew the four screws on the inside and it will release the console further allowing you to get your hand in to unhook the cable from the outlet. I recommend when you put the new one in you leave it unassembled so you can plug the cable back. First feed the new outlet through the front, plug in, assemble the inside with the four screws then snap the main console back into place. Hope this helps. The video was very helpful.
