  • Is MS a monster that we need to fight off?
Receiving a diagnosis of a disease that there is currently no cure for and is progressive is hard! How we cope with a diagnosis of MS or other chronic illness matters.
Developing coping strategies is essential. How we look at our disease can have a big effect on how we live with it. In this video I share my perspective on how we envision our MS and how it can help or hurt us.

So refreshing to hear such a positive mindset! I rather train a puppy than fight a monster

Right? Who needs monsters? Puppies are much preferred. Thanks for watching! 🙂

I have seen over and over the MS monster posts on Facebook and the idea of fighting it in a war-like manner. I really appreciate this take on how to mentally deal with the idea of my MS. The idea of the puppy is much less stress inducing. Thank you!

Thanks for watching and commenting Laura! I completely understand the mentality of fighting the monster, but I would much rather support the puppy too. ;)

This is 100% how I've been trying to find within myself, even with also being diagnosed with a brain tumour at the sametime.
It's a struggle that I work to achieve eavh day, it can be achieved.
However it's not always an easy task for me at least as my son has schizoaffective Borderline personality disorders, addict, yes he is not me, but he is part of my life with that brings mkre stressors.
Boundaries what im currently working on to help keep my mindset healthy.
    Love puppies.
Kittens are awesome too, I have 2 cats that are oure love.

Thanks for watching. Sounds like you have a whole litter of puppies to cope with! Take exquisite care with each one. Kittens are wonderful too. I am sure they fit this analogy too. They like to push things off the tables though. 😉

Let me explain how I cope.... I don't
I was diagnosed a little over a year ago. I also have depression anxiety and CPTSD. You have to understand my traumatic childhood. You need to understand where got my worth. As a child I was punished for things that couldn't....not able to do. I learned to be a perfectionist. I learn what I do is what makes me acceptable. The fact that that MS has changed they way I function or lack there of. I see myself a useless now. I don't see a future that I can live with. All I know there is so much more than a diagnosis to a person. It's how they see themselves that also comes into play. How they learned to cope in their life and the way I learned to cope with my life has been unhealthy since the beginning.

Oh Tracy I am so sorry you had that trauma in your life. Have you read or seen works by Gabor Mate? He wrote a wonderful book called The Myth of Normal.

Any little thing you can do each day to support your health may help. Even if it as small as drinking more water, spending a few moments in meditation or prayer, eating one piece of fruit, or keeping a gratitude journal.

Really, Vichy (sorry if it's wrong, eng is not my first language), thank u for your work and effort doing this videos, you don't actually know how this impacts millions of lives and individually as well. I've been struggling with my mental health about it and your visions, thoughts, words have been inspiring me, of course, I'm receving all the professional help I can get, but sometimes even if the intentions of the professional cares are good, they just don't get it. Keep sharing your amazing thoughts and your life experience, as a young person trying to cope, you've been really inspirational, sometimes I think about you as a friend I can relate dearly. Please, as long as you can and want, keep the good work. Hugs from Brazil.

Thanks so much Bryce for your kind words! I am honored to considered a friend! I often say “welcome my dear friends” and I mean it! You are all dear to me and like to see you all my friends. I am so glad you are seeking professional help. It is not easy to cope with MS and chronic illness AND they can come with depression as a distinct symptom. I am humbled that I am able to help. Please feel free to share channel and videos with anyone you think might find them helpful too. 😊

What a positive, inspiring video, thank you very much! My diagnosis was only 3 months ago but I am working on taking care of myself as best I can. I liked the metaphor and images of a puppy.
Out of curiosity: Was your dog’s name (and type of dog) inspired by Adriene (from yoga with…)? I love her video’s!

    • @EvenSoItIsWell
      @EvenSoItIsWell  Месяц назад +1

Thanks for watching. Good on you for taking exquisite care of yourself! In part my decision was inspired by Yoga with Adriene. When we were looking for a pup I wanted one that would keep me active, that wasn’t like my previous pup (a lab mix), and one that wasn’t too big. I was looking for terriers and Bunji (original name Archie) came up in my feed because he is an Australian Cattle Dog/Terrier mix. I enjoy watching Benji and he seems like a nice pup.
When looking for names I wanted one that had the same number of syllables and a similar sound to his old name. Bunji is an Aboriginal word for friend or best mate. 🙂
