Great demo of engine shutting down when auger encounters obstruction to say the least. Purchased the HD 928 two years ago and it has been a great machine so far. Also have a 1989 Toro Powershift 828 that never broke a pin in over 30 years of use as they are actual bolts. The movement with the augers when you checked them after hitting the stump is normal and they all have a little back and forth play in them. Was impressed the Impeller bolts held up also as that branch definitely jammed itself in there causing the engine to stop. I would never do this with mine but seeing Toro is letting you review theirs Im glad you really put this to the challenge to put peoples mind at ease and also really show how strong these Toro's are.

I have the same blower and didn’t even know snowblowers clogged. I’ve cut through 4 foot tall Ice rocky snow banks from plows in one pass without moving it backwards for another run.

Thank you very much for the informative review for this snowblower. I bought this exact model one hour ago. This snowblower should make snow cleanup as "fun" and painless as possible. :)

Well I have to say I maybe commenting on this a year after you put it online. I am sold thanks for a great review. I bought a Toro 824 OE. That’s all I could afford. But a smaller version of that behemoth.

Hey thanks for the great in-depth review. You made it more exciting for me to can't wait to get this model any sooner. I just placed a deposit for this model today but the store won't get another shipment until two weeks time. I live in New York City and it is a bit late on getting this for this winter season. We did get a heavy snow storm last week and another one possibly tomorrow. I mainly wanted to get this for my dad. He is pulling 60 next year and after watching him shovel snow manually for 20+ years, he definitely deserves this. Can not wait to receive this and thanks again for this great review!

If a company makes a claim that their product can do something, it’s our goal to put that claim to the test. It didn’t feel good doing it, but it works! Lol. I wish we had snow for a better review, but you know the weather around here lol.

Great video. This was the first winter to try out my new Toro Power Max HD 1232. A few weeks ago, here in southeastern MI we got hit with 9 inches of extremely wet heavy snow. Great for making a snow man, but not good for snow blowing.
The Toro handled it better than I expected. As wet and heavy as the snow was, the machine was able to throw the snow over 40'. Toro claims in the right snow conditions the 1232 can throw snow 57'.
After how far it threw the heavy wet stuff, I tend to believe Toro's claims. The quick stick takes time to get the hang of, but with some time using the machine it works quite well.
One thing I did, and after doing some research I found many users of the Toro HD machines make a simple adjustment to slow the forward speed down to a crawl in first gear. In deep or hard packed snow this is helpful.
I also removed the tension spring on the left engagement lever. The tension spring is excessively strong and causes your hand to become fatigued over time. The lower tension spring is all that is needed to lift the handle when released. One can also just slip the tension spring out of the lever grove, this will work just as well.
The Toro HD machines are well balanced and for their size, are easy to maneuver. Mine has trigger steer, which took a bit to get the hang of. But after some use I found the trigger steer to work really well. With auto steer, in some situations some complain of twitchy adjustments made by the auto steer differential.
But as with everything else, time spent using the machine usually makes for a smoother operation.
Overall, I am very impressed with the Toro HD 1232 performance. Starts easily by hand no matter how cold. After the 5-hour brake in period on the engine, I plan on using Toro's full synthetic 0w30 snow blower motor oil.
I use ethanol free fuel in all my outdoor power equipment along with Sea Foam. Some use standard high-octane fuel which still contains ethanol but has more detergent additives for a cleaner fuel and intake system.
The best way to deal with today's ethanol blended fuels is to drain the carburetor bowl when done for the season. Thanks for the very informative video. Toro's HD snow blowers are one of the best machines for dealing with any kind of snow conditions.

Good thing you only tried it once. Brothers toro bent the auger blade severely before the engine down. A rock is a lot harder than a rotted log. Is the inconvenience of replacing a shear pin worth damaging the machine?

Great video ! I bought this same model a few weeks ago as PA is having an above average winter this year. Curious if you've had a chance to run it through any storms recently and if so what your observations are now that it's winter. I'm really happy with how mine is performing however I'm noticing rapid and heavy wear on the skids.

    • @g4outdoors
      @g4outdoors  3 года назад +1

After using it and looking things over. It is heavier than my smaller machine, so the pads are wearing more than expected. Someone made a great comment in here about “Roland roller snowblower skids”. I’m seriously going to try to find those. Anyway, I know that the original skids are a wearable item, so it’s not hurting my feelings either way.

Hey I've missed you getting a new boat ! Must be in a summer video no doubt. I'll have to check that our. Absolutely no reason to use premium fuel. Only difference from regular is antiknock additive.
