Kim was out of town for the weekend, so I decided it was a great opportunity for my first solo camp in 4 or 5 years. Cooper and I took the long drive down south, and we find ourselves in the Oregon Dunes along the coast. We got a bit stuck in the sand, and our trusty shovel and GoTreads traction boards saved the day. We stumble upon a fantastic dispersed campsite, and have a peaceful night under the clouds and stars.

I really like you videos. I have been watching since your Prius days. I’m in a Prius. Congratulations to you and Kim. Love your self rescue. The fold up boards are awesome! Thanks!
Hey thanks Tina! The gotreads would be a great solution for the Prius, don’t take up too much room and are fairly robust. Thanks for watching ❤️
I was born and raised in Coos Bay. Tip of the day from a lifetimer; air down to about 8PSI for soft sand. Makes a world of difference and can really help prevent your transmission from overheating. I've never been stuck using that method. On roads and big ol dunes. I drive a Yukon XL, which without my camping gear and family is at 5,900 lbs. Also, I've camped in the exact same spot you did in this video. I promise the trash wasn't mine.
Yeah, definitely should have aired down more, but it was a fun excuse to use the traction boards 😅
And good! That was definitely an excessive amount of trash that day
New to the channel and just finished binge watching many of your guys' videos! Love it.
Sad to see the trash in this spot. My wife and I were that same spot in Feb and had cleaned it up when we were their also...
Well howdy! Thank you!
And yes, unfortunately I’ve known some other folks who have gone since I went out and it was trashed again. Pretty lame
Looks like a good time. I was camping on the Washington coast last Wednesday through Friday and it got into the mid-20’s at night. Zero degree sleeping bag and big dogs kept me cozy in the Lab Wagon, but I definitely need to look into a good heater too. That fire pit is nice! Cheers!
Ah yes, a dog laying on your feet is about 20 degrees extra warmth 😆
That spot looks familiar! Glad the weather mostly held up for you. It certainly was cold in central Oregon. We were thinking of you out there
Probably about 30 or so degrees warmer than you guys 😂 definitely need to think about a diesel heater (or something) here pretty soon
Amazing location !
Thanks for Mooping (materials out of place) that campsite! Even if it wasn't your materials to clean up, it does make a difference.
Absolutely! If we all do a little it goes a long way 😄
We live 30 minutes up 101 from the north spit. We are out there doing recovery from time to time. Great video as usual. CHEERS!!
Really love it down there. Thanks for watching!!
I will be up in the Oregon coast this summer and I'm searching for places to check out. Your videos will definitely be helpful!
Have a great time!
We have the same one it's great for cooking too.
Looking forward to doing some campfire cooking over it for sure
Nice vehicle I've got a 2002 Sequoia four wheel drive.
The horse and motorcycle chasing it! 😂😂😂 I’m dying
Hahaha, I really enjoyed it too
lol, love the editing @4:49
Another great video! Thanks!
Thank ya!!
Yes love the editing and that music for sure !!!!!!!
Staun tire deflators. Invest in these, they are great.
That’s the style we had that were stolen, they are definitely great! I’ll still grab a pair (of the knock-offs) 😄
Thanks man!
This was the first video of yours i've seen.
Ginny-Girl (Australian Cattle-dog) & i would've been *quite* Happy where you & your 'dowgerdy' camped.
🙏🦉

🌅
Haha, I was laughing watching you use the ARB Rapid Deflator for the first time, because the same damn thing happened to me. There's definitely a learning curve to 'em, but once you figure it out they let out a LOT of air really fast.
Oh, and pro-tip, be careful not to accidentally completely remove your valve stem when using it. Ask me how I know.....
Honestly that is exactly what I was afraid of doing, so I decided to be humble and not force it. As they say, use your gear before you USE your gear, ha
..cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Cheers! Thanks for watching 🤙🏼
@@ScaleofTwo Thank you very mutch... have a nice Weekend.... see you….
Where’d you get that awning? First time viewer, liked the video!
It looks like the OVS 270 Degree Awning. Just got one a little over a month ago. It's a game changer.
Hey man - if you're ever looking for another Toyota 4x4 owner to camp or explore with, let me know! Great video btw. - Sam
Headed to Florence over thanksgiving weekend, my wife and I have been there a lot but just riding and have always gotten an Airbnb but this year we got a campsite, what PSI do you recommend for driving out in the sand 10?
I usually go to around 20, as long as you don’t get stuck in anything deep you should be fine!
How do you get maps to overland on the beach?
3:24 where are you at exactly?
Wow! So interesting about the flag. What does the flag mean/do?
In any OHV area across the country you’re required to have a flag that is a certain height above your vehicle. it’s an added layer of safety when you’re rolling over big sand dunes for visibility!
Oh man the garbage drives me insane! Pick up after yourselves people come on
I’m starting to get use to it unfortunately 😵💫
For the Dutch Oven
So what sand dune is this at exactly? I just moved to the state and my wife really wants to go camping at one . Which is this one if you may ?
People like this think they are entitled and they don't disclose where these public lands are.
@@jaysonschor actually most of us spend hours and hours exploring for places and we don't want them blown up on social media. Want cool places to camp, do the work.
@@jaysonschor it’s not entitlement, spots get shared… and before you know it, they are full of trash, and it’s absolutely ruined. Most of the fun for us, is getting out and exploring and finding them first hand. No participation trophies
What is the required flag for?
In sand dune areas vehicles are required to have them so they are visible over ledges, helps visibility and lower accident rates since people are just driving wherever!
Where’s this at man
This’ll help you find it!

Where is this located?
Kinda looks like Coos Bay area
Did you miss Kim? 😉👍
😂 I missed Kim
Like Matt’s off-road recovery says if you can get out with traction boards you weren’t really stuck
Why didn’t Coop help ya dig?? 😉
😂 he was too excited to get out of the car
Get an Aeropress.
