I think our lack of quality players has finally been exposed. JD can't catch, he can't block blitzers, seems he has either been schemed out of running or defenses figured out how to keep him contained. Oline depth was always in doubt, I mean Scott is first choice for T? RB seemed a strength but injuries exposed that. If a player can't get healthy in 10 days, maybe they should have been put on IR, and replaced (yeah, I know, easier said than done). WR has been ignored, our most consistent receiver not named Terry is a RB (Ekeler), with maybe a TE (Ertz) 3rd, but Ertz isn't consistent. We aren't throwing deep because of pressure, scheming by defenses (double Terry), and what's the point if the receiver isn't going to catch it (% goes down the longer the pass)? JD can't get into a rythym because the drive stalls before he can get started in the early going. Defense tires out; again, depth.
Been saying this since we lost to the Eagles. We got exposed as far as quality of players we have. On the roster, We had a turnover rate of something like 50% or close to it, and a lot of the players we signed were backups/roleplayers for other teams, or were street free-agents nobody else wanted. Then you add starting a rookie QB and it was just a matter of time that they would come back down to earth. I think they started out playing way above their talent level but now the kinks in the armor have started to show. Add in a lack of depth & it really shouldn’t surprise anyone.
More quality players = higher chances and more opportunities for the explosive plays. I can't reasonably be mad about this. They're just in the first year of a rebuild. If they can get themselves a stud offensive linemen and a real explosive threat at WR to play opposite of Terry. Gotta give time for AP to build this thing.
There isn’t a single person in the football media that provides the kind of insight that Logan does. It’s kind of amazing that there aren’t more ex football players doing this. Logan is the best in the business.
Great listen. Making me feel a little better in things. If the league extends the games to 18 or more, then the byes needs to be completed B4 turkey day!! And happy gobble gobble John and for all the work you do, rest the voice 😉
I am a little disappointed because I wanted to see Dallas go down in flames, but I had to realize that they pay them to win also. So we need to really be our game when we play them at their house! Go Commanders.
Im not that disappointed yet..We are still way ahead of last year and the future looks very bright and after another off season Im hoping that this team can continue to evolve..
All teams have injuries, some more than others and that has its effect on success. With that said, I feel defenses are getting better game planning against Washington. There seems to be little to know separation between receivers and those covering them. Defenses are playing more man coverage which appears to be more effective against this offense. Cliff also wants to run the ball too much on first down. You have to play against your tendencies often enough to keep them guessing. Not sure what the answer is and if I was, I would have a job on the offensive coaching staff. O and D need to evolve. Belichick was a master at this. Perhaps they should bring him in as a consultant!
I love Logan. But I do think you all reacted to the most extreme version of Kliff-regression. Let me make the more moderate case. I am in no way saying Kliff is the only or even the main reason this offense has slowed down since Carolina. I think all of the things are part of the story. Jayden's not playing as well, the backs are hurt, the team doesn't have enough playmakers, the OL is undertalented. But I think there's also something to be said for the plays. Defenders seem to be sniffing out screens faster and better than they used to. Logan mentioned the way Dallas attacked the chippers in the Hoffman podcast. Etc. I think part of why the unit was historically good in the first half of the year is that Kingsbury surprised defenses who weren't ready for his scheme. But the NFL is an adaptation league. I think defenses have a better feel now how to defend and attack this offense. That's normal. But the key is there always has to be a next-counter in your offense. Whatever you do to stop it, that defensive adjustment exposes something else, and a truly great playcaller/offense has the ability to exploit whatever adjustment you made. Now, maybe it's the case that this unit just doesn't have the horses to do that. But it also shouldn't be THIS bad. The Dallas Cowboys, a defense that had been getting TRUCKED by everybody, held them to 3 points for a large chunk of that game. It's one thing when Philly shuts you down. But they've been less productive for a month and a half now. There needs to be another gear. But by no means does this mean I'm looking to give up on Kliff. If it happens again next year when (hopefully) they've upgraded a bit in the offseason, we might have a tougher conversation, but I think it's valid to say 'Kliff needs to do better' while also saying a bunch of other guys need to do better too.
Love Logan's points. Great insight for those that don't spend the night with football. Where we are at right now, not having B Rob is a major blow. Being a defensive coach, I can tell you, I call a different game when he is in there. The players are well aware, on both sides, when he is out there. Its so much easier to block when your 225 lb sledge hammer is coming through the line. Defenders attack plays differently through leverage and trigger points on when to commit. However, its the pros and just like in high school, your talent on the field changes so you better as a coach put them in a better position. I think Kliff has been doing that but we're just off a touch in execution. The bye week will be such a great recharge for this team on all levels. Thank you John and Logan for time and info. We are far from done this season.
What about trying to throw it to the open guy I kinda hate too say it but I think Jayden is color blind only sees black cause Luke is open 24/7 and can’t get a ball thrown his way I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen him running wide open and Jayden rather throw it to Brown in the middle completely covered haha sad state if this is the case I know he wants his kind to look up to him but wouldn’t it be better if all children looked up to him even the ones he doesn’t see?
These are the podcasts that keep me sane. The depth and nuance are so, so much appreciated!!!!
Thank you John for getting Logan into it 😂
Happy thanksgiving john!

Short version.... We started the season doing what we do best. Now as teams are adjusting to that, we need to get better at the other things.
Logan is a beast!! We love you!!!
Guy is freaking awesome. Best in the business.

Fantastic video! Always enjoy your videos, John....and Logan's insight as well. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Two legends

Rome wasnt built in a day. We are way ahead of expectations before the season started.

I’m disappointed, you didn’t look competitive against a rival in the division that’s was missing key players. A rival you all used to coach for 😒🙄😂
The blatant malpractice by Ron Rivera was never going to be overcome in one year.
