Great video as always! I have a couple farrier rasp knifes that I'm working on as well. In your next video on heat treating. I would like you to answer a few questions for me if possible. 1 reading different temps. How do you gauge your normalizing temperatures and quenching temperatures? Eye, magnet, salt, thermometer, thermocoupler?? 2 soak time. With a gas forge what are your tricks? Do you use some type of baffle or angle iron setup to hold your forge at a certain temperature? If so do you use a thermocoupler to give you a readout of the temperature? (I'm wanting to build a gas forge that is more like an over and a digital temperature readout would be awesome).3 what quenching oil do you use? And do you preheat your oil? If so what temp?
Beautiful blade! Thanks for the lesson(s)! I havent been making knives very long but I am impressed with the amount of great content and helpful people in this hobby.
WONDERFUL, I have no words, always super perfect and unique precise product, wonderful work and video, well done and good luck, respect from old BG. p.s. It is a great pleasure for me to see that there are such precise people in the world, and that of the White race!!!
Very well contoured blade.... I really like it.....I made a very nice one myself ...I have a Faŕier buddy... so an endless supply free if I wanted them....I have seen some poor attempts on these on various forums but you have hit the nail on the head with this one....👍👍

Awesome video series. Can you tell me which farrier rasp brand that you would recommend? I want to order a couple and want to make sure they are good steel to use. Thank you
I only have 3 speeds because I don't have a VFD yet. I run it at the top speed most of the time. When I'm using high grits I'll run the medium/slow speed
When you are scribing your centerline what thickness are you shooting for in between lines pre heat treat and thickness of edge after finish bevels before sharpening.
I appreciate your explanations on process.
I'm happy you liked it!
your ability to create and teach is great. you have taken a lot of fear out of knife making. You have made a lot look doable. Thanks.
I love your video, I like how you're taking us through the process so that we can understand how to make good knives.
Definitely my Thumbs Up on this one 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!

Super robota👊🏻😎
Thank you!
Love how you explain things. Do you forge them out ever? Or just stock removal. Haven’t made it all the way through all your videos lol!
I started out with reshaping an old knife, then moved on to stock removal of my own designs and now I am trying to build my skill set on forging.
@@theriversexperience9383 awesome!! Keep forging!

I use Save Edge and Diamond brand rasps.
@@theriversexperience9383 thank you
Eric what speed do you typically run your grinder at when starting your bevels? Thanks
Between the thickness of the edge a penny and a nickel.
Do you ever anneal your rasps.
That was done in last weeks Shop Talk Tuesday episode.
@@theriversexperience9383 ok thanks. I missed it.
👍👍👍🔪
Drop point recurve = kukri
Don't tell the kukri guys that, they will argue with you for days about it.
