If anyone had told me that I was going to sit here for 24 minutes, listening to, enjoying, and actually being fascinated by, someone else’s career history, work ethic and philosophy, I would have said they were absolutely INSANE! I’ve just been inspired by someone younger than both my children! Wonderful video thank you Roman! 🙂
Two things that are going to lead to huge success that I see right off the bat: 1. You are extremely humble and 2. You are doing it out of passion and not for money. The money will come along with the success. Good luck from the US 🤙🏼
Good luck Roman! You’re doing what most people don’t have the confidence to do. I’m a project manager and do it for the pay cheque but when I go out and take photos in London (with my x100v) I feel this is what I should be doing. Having a family now I need the security so it will remain a hobby. All the best for your new venture!
I needed this today man. I’ve really been struggling with trying to do the “smart thing” and work a safe job but also find time to grow and develop in my music and my passions. I’m so happy that you’re at a place where you can pursue your craft full-time, and I hope to be there someday. Also, you inspired me to order my first camera (Fuji) and I’m excited to get it in next week! Cant wait to see what you do with this channel 👍
So this brought back some memories for me. I had a business with friends and people were pulling in different directions. In the end, my mental health started to suffer (though I didn't) realise it at the time) and I decided to get the hell out of Dodge. I had personal bank guarantees which my co-directors gave me written assurances they had taken over. Turned out they hadn't and I spent 20+ years paying off a sum of money larger than you mentioned by working all hours in jobs I hated. The day I owed nothing was a great day. Now living in Thailand, 66 years old and making up for the "lost years". All the best in your venture, I'm thinking it will work out fine.
The quality of your videos while you were working full time is incredible. I cant wait to see what you can do when this channel has your full attention! -- Of course avoid burnout, turning a hobby into a job you can lose a bit of that spark that makes your videos so great!
Best of luck man. Started watching your channel about a year ago (along with a ton of other street photo / pov type channels). And your's is one of the channels I still watch regularly -- it feels like you really enjoy street photography and you're making the videos about that and not geared towards whatever is going to do best on youtube's algorithm. Keep up the good work!
I like your attitude. I also was selfemployed for the last 7 years. But after all this time I got bored and frustrated. Now I‘m working in a normal 9 to 5 day job. At the moment I don‘t know if this is the kind of thing I want to do forever. You reminded me that it‘s never to late to try News things. All the best to you ✌️
By far this is i think the longest video I watched from your channel but never hesitated to skip. Inspiring and somehow I can relate with my own life. Thank you for telling us "your" story. Keep doing what you love to do. We are just here to support you all the way. Stay safe man.
Thank you for your inspiring video. I do not need to wish you every success - you will be successful based on your attitude, ability and strong selfreflecting capability. Looking forward to your great videos.
Thanks for wearing your heart on your sleeve for use. Very insightful Roman, and I think you can make this work. You have the passion and you're a sensible guy! Keep going :-)
Duuuude Congrats! Just quit my job yesterday to focus on my dreams of being a musician and freelancer ! I've already found a gig and it's not paying too much but I'm super passionate about it ! Things are scary but I couldn't be more genuinely excited knowing I'm finally doing what makes me happy
Roman, what a fabulous introduction to you. Love your determination to do your own think. You have a new follower. Now to delve into your backlog of videos.
you speak right from my soul. I didn't work in automotive but at a public broadcaster and now I set everything on the fulltime-artist-card. It's an amazing rollercoaster ride so far and I absolutely love it :) keep up the good work - subscribed!
So exciting! Looking forward to following your travels and photography journey. Thanks for sharing your story which is so inspiring. Wishing you the very best! 🌟
Thank you Roman for sharing your story so far. Wish you all the best. I am a 55 year old guy who fell in live with Photography a long long time ago ... the feeling was spilled and several RUclipsrs brought it back to me during long pandemic evenings at home. Although STREET is not on top of my list i learned so much from you. I love your mindset - it makes the difference 🙏 best regards and i’ll see you in the next one! 🇩🇪 Frank
There is nothing like hearing a person's biography on how and where it has taken someone to reach the moment in time in which he or she found an inspirational meaning to enjoy life. We all often hear and feel the boredom of life because of a lack of creativity but when creativity becomes the reason to doing something it gets the attention of anyone seeing or listening to a podcast. I can relate to your video very well because I had and still have those issues in life. I definitely hope for you to keep on going and that it becomes a means to a purpose to bring you happiness and prosperity at the same time because of what I heard I subscribed to encourage the channel. All the best and looking forward to more of the channel, cheers.
Hi Roman, just came across this video and man was I glued to the screen! Although I enjoy all your technical videos immensely this was my most favourite so far. It was so real, captivating, full of wisdom and volnurability... Thank you for that. you are a good guy Roman and I wish you all the best
Wish you all the luck mate!subscribed a while ago but never commented, looks like we all live same drama you did, congrats on taking the big step, life will get you rewarded!!
Congratulations on your new venture! I too am looking at making some money with photography but not yet ready to make the jump…so i am going to be watching you and how to progress
Good luck Roman.👍🏻 I worked a job I absolutely hated (software) for 17 years, just because the money was good… and it took a real toll on my mental and physical health. But I’m not sure the younger me would even listen if I could warn him, some mistakes you just have to make in order to learn. Photography has been like therapy for me these past few years.
Roman, your ability to just talk to me/us is what I love most about your channel. You are down to earth and real and I always look forward to your next post. Best of luck to you, I believe and hope you will do well.
Glad to see an upload with more of an insight into you. Love your videos about photography but glad we got to know abit more about you! Keep it up mate! Glad you’re doing what you love!
Loved every moment of this video. The little dog at the Beginning was very funny. “Don’t touch my dog” like you were even interested lol. Yeah man I’d love to learn some stuff here. Your principals in the work place 👍🏽
Good luck to you Roman. I feel like I've been part of your journey and I am proud and amazed of what you have achieved. Well done for trying things out in life!
Really interesting to hear your backstory and how you’ve gotten to this point and decision. I wish you all the best with it. You’re already a great photographer, videographer and story teller so I’m sure you’ll do well 👍. . I can’t wait for next weeks video.
Your observations about the 'quick buck' mentality are spot on. The fact of the matter is - your real talents are creative. You said at the beginning that you are not 'academic' - that may have been your experience at school but actually, notwithstanding your 1st class engineering degree, you have an empathy for the world which would benefit even more from immersing yourself in a knowledge and experience of the arts, philosophy and ideas about the world in general (I make no presumption - I expect this is something you do naturally given your laudable desire to improve your composition and creative potential in the photographic image). One recommendation that springs immediately to mind is Roland Barthes 'Camera Lucida'. It is a short little book that focusses on the creation of meaning. I wish you the very best of luck with your increasingly focussed creative drive and hope that you can get by on the back of all this without driving yourself into the ground. Oh and try not to apologise so much. It comes across that you are not arrogant (blessed relief compared to much of You Tube) and that you are a communicator. All the very best.
Great journey, when I look back at my journey it's sounds similar. Photography has always been my I do it because I enjoy it. Nice to hear that someone else\ others went\are going through it as well.
Enjoyed your story and have been following you for some time. Your comment about starting anything with the intent of making a lot of money is very sound advice.
this is the first video I watched in your channel and thanks for the honest sharing. I think lots of man around 30-40 will be facing similar problem in their life. "9-5 boring and meaningless job with stable income" VS "a meaningful dream work that with unknown risk and future" I hope all the good people here can give a try as long as you have enough to survive.. We can only live once and you never try you'll never know. Stay motivated, work hard and be patient. Go for it bro.
Well done Roman i have just retired , but at your age I went through all those emotions at your age , when money isn’t a driver it’s hard to find where you sit in the working world , so just keep doing what you love , the other world will always be there when you need to top up your money , I went bankrupt twice in my working life , still haven’t been penny less or on the streets, I’m happy now with my xt2 and a few nice lenses a roof over my head and some savings and a great wife good luck Roman never give in to the backstabbers of the 9 to 5 office and roam free my friend I follow you on Instagram and love your shots 👏👏👏👍🏴
Love it man! Always wondered how you came to do photography and your steps there. We seem to have had a similar path towards photography. Wish you nothing but success in your ventures, and will follow your journey with interest 🙏
Good for you mate. Hope I’ll work fine for you. I left my project management job 2 years ago to start a photography business but had a child and had to get a day job again. Not feeling bad, and keeping photographing on the side. Wish you luck !

Thanks Roman for sharing this with us. I can relate to your experiences learning and growing from the many ''not such good'' moves. I am now semi retired and turning back to my life long passion of Photography. I admire your attitude and philosophy and wish you every success. Cheers from Australia and look me up if you ever visit Sydney. BTW I never knew that car manufacturers tested their vehicles until your item.
