I love every time Laira goes "interesting" during conversations
Chat freaking out about if a rat should be handed to a cat directly before the rat freaks out about Fritz but not Laira and Laira gets offended is dramatic irony
The ultimate Rat killer party, you got a cat-person, a bird-person, a kobold, and I don’t think Bugbears eat rats but I wouldn’t be surprised.
“It says Verbal and Somatic components, but it doesn’t specify what they are?”
Oh, blissfully unaware Red. *No spell does.*
Burning Hands does, but that ultimately makes the spell worse because you can't have different flavortext without acknowledging that you're breaking RAW.
That's why you make them up
I'm not trying to be Rudy Rules here, but verbal and somatic is for when you are in some form of restriction. You can't make verbal spells if you are muted, say you are captured and gagged, you can't do it. And somatic is for when you are restrained, for example your hands are tied up so you can't move them around to cast the spell.
It's up to you if you wanna take it into account, but you could put your players into some interesting situations using it.
"If I were to think of something on the spot... you can call me Boss."
you beautiful bastard.
The sass that he possesses is immense. What a personality. I would travel with Wurd just to see what he would do lol
Captain Theodore had spent most of his life exploring the world from the skies. As the captain of an enormous blimp airship, he had traversed the vast expanses of the planet, charting uncharted territories and discovering new wonders at every turn. Yet, as he approached his golden years, he found himself feeling lost and purposeless.
It was a bright, sunny day when Captain Theodore set out on what would prove to be his most memorable journey yet. His destination was a remote corner of the world that he had never visited before, a place of great natural beauty and untold secrets. As he soared over mountains and valleys, forests and deserts, he felt a sense of excitement building within him.
As he arrived at his destination, Theodore found himself in awe of the sheer beauty of the place. The sky was a brilliant shade of blue, the grass a deep, lush green. Birds sang in the trees and butterflies danced in the air. It was a world that seemed untouched by the chaos and turmoil that plagued so many other parts of the world.
Yet, as he explored this new place, Theodore couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. He had seen so much of the world, but what was the point of it all? What was his purpose in life?
It wasn't until he met a group of local villagers that Theodore began to find his answer. The villagers were a humble, hardworking people who had built their lives around the natural beauty of the world. They showed Theodore their simple homes and their bountiful fields, and spoke of the joys of living in harmony with nature.
As Theodore spent time with the villagers, he began to see the world in a new light. He realized that his purpose was not simply to explore and discover, but to help preserve and protect the wonders of the world for future generations. He vowed to use his knowledge and experience to help others see the world as he now did, as a precious and fragile gift that must be cherished and cared for.
As he flew away from the village, Theodore felt a sense of peace and fulfillment that he had never experienced before. He knew that he had found his purpose in life, and that he could use his skills and his passion to make a real difference in the world. And so, with renewed purpose and a full heart, Captain Theodore continued his journey, eager to see what wonders lay ahead. Story? Lost in a drift?
Get to the good parts… lol

All hail the time stamp guy
For a moment, i thought la destructora was somehow going to jump from the water after taking multiple pirates and a boat below
"LA DESTRUCTORA HAS COME TO YOUR AID!"
To the party, or to the pirates? It's not clear.
57:45 Ahhh I thought it was just an expression Dozen(?) had when he said "Rotton Roots!" earlier as a curse, but now that the pirate said it too, I realize it's a fun little in-universe curse referring to the very tree the party is on a pilgrimage to sustain.
Nice detail, Jocat!
It's rotten roots I think. Rotten as in "This is f-ed". And roots as in Qwerencia's roots. It's like our "For god's sake"
@@grimsladeleviathan3958 I thought it was "rot _and_ roots"
I'm glad to see we're continuing the tradition of making friends with the random tiefling that only gets a shred of a personality for flavor and turning them into full NPCs.
It's a real fun part of DnD, when a blank slate enemy or NPC grows more personality because the players did something. We had a similar encounter where we were going into a dungeon, and a band of bandits were tailing us to kill us. But then cave spiders and several undead came up and we had to team up for the moment. All the bandits died to the enemies except one, who was heavily injured and we decided to have mercy and our Cleric healed him and someone handed him a potion of healing. He was supposed to be a simple enemy, but our DM gave him a bit of a story when we conversed with him for a bit. We actually saw him again way later and he turned a new leaf because we helped him and became an adventurer! Really cool stuff like that is what I love about DnD.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: If we don’t get the Elynthi OST publicly released, like how the Necrohunt and Golden Cay OST’s didn’t get released, *we riot.*
If we don't get the OSTs, *we will French Revolution*
I very much love how all the characters have their own leitmotifs.
I don't really understand what a "leitmotif" means. If it's not too much trouble, could you explain, please?
@grimsladeleviathan3958 Certainly!
In short a Leitmotif is a musical tune that plays in certain situations. A bit like Theme songs but broader.
When Indiana Jones does something cool you hear that *Du-Du-Du-Duuuu* sound.
When Darth Vader walks into view you hear *Drun-dun-du-du-dun-duuu-dun-du-duuu* sounds.
The most famous Leitmotif is Dies Irae, or The Day of Wrath. You have probably heard it all over the place.
*dun-dun-dun-duuun-dundun-dun-dun-dun-dun-duuuu*
@@CommissarMitch So leitmotif is a music thing, but then what did you mean by all the characters having one? Sorry if I sound ignorant, but I didn't see all the players having their own theme songs. Or is there another factor of leitmotif that you are referring to?
@grimsladeleviathan3958 There is a difference between being ignorant and not being taught the information
@@CommissarMitch Ohhhhhhhhh I see I see. That makes a ton more sense. So you're talking about how *some* characters have their own theme songs. Gotcha.
Well now that I have sufficient knowledge, I also agree with your opinion! Most series I've watched either use regular music, or just ambient soundtracks. But in this series, every big moment has a track made specifically for it. The fight with Elias, the encounter with La Destructora, the humanoid blot fight, they have a tailor made song to make it easy for you to get the mood. That, plus all the NPC portraits, JoCat sure loves going the extra mile. And it makes this series all the better.
And my friend, Commissar Mitch, thank you for teaching me what leitmotif means, and for your understanding, kind and friendly words. I truly wish you a good day, and again, thank you.
God I wish I could play D&D with somebody. Not only does Jocat make me go past questioning my sexuality to embracing it... BUT HE ALSO MAKES ME CRY CAUSE I CAN'T AND NEVER HAVE PLAYED D&D 😢
there's plenty of online games you could join ^^ i'm sure you can find one
Same for the most part. I'm trying to stay aware of opportunities to play again after experiencing a very basic one shot.
I'd recommend searching up "looking for group" forums. There's a fair few.
I would recommend discord I know of a couple servers I can point you towards
Sounds good to me
Every episode of this campaign brings me joy and those two hours fly by really damn quick 👍Great roleplaying all around, excellent pace, really, awesome stuff! For the algorithm!
"I have a rat on my head, life is complete."
And no one bothered to make a Rat's nest joke...
I am mildly disappointed... but Laira's offense to the rat not being scared of her makes up for it.
So glad Storig makes an appearance here.
That was my favorite Dingo Doodles video where you talked about him!
Nobody touches Storig or his little mouse friend!
Yas!!!!!!!! It made me so happy to hear his name!!!!
I forgot the name of Storig but thought that voice and description he gave reminded me of it.
If Buck had wild surged BEFORE throwing the barrel Wurd would have had a *VERY* different experience.
I’m imagining them getting atleast two good throws of it before the Boss threw up!
That would have been hilarious! Time to try this in my own game >.>
Fast barrel special.
1:30:00 I'm headcanoning that this is now the Boss' Mill (A legitimate salvage).
YES! HAHA YES!!!
The scene with Wurd and Buck reading the book in the beginning is very enjoyable. Good improv on both players parts!
Never stop making these, genuinely one of my favourite things to see posted on the channel.
Good grief, Wurd is stone cold in this one! Diplomacy is stab or not to stab for him.
16:05 Not gonna lie, when I was imagining the ship I thought it was like a Treasure Planet (disney) style ship, seemed like the most fitting to me
I would like to put out a vote of Fritz callin out kill streaks every episode XD
I love the improvised first chapter of a wholesome love story XD
I like the chemistry between Fritz and the Tiefling
NEW ELYNTHI, ive been waiting for this :)
19:33 the staurig voice oh my god!
Holy hell it him!
Was looking forward to this!!!❤❤
I kind of want to hear about the adventures of the blotty boi who floated away on the boat.
One of JoCats best campaigns. The others are great. This one is top notch by far :3
1:28:54 Wurd seems like the exact kind of person who'd watch Jojo lmao
1:22:17 -- "There's a leek in the boat!"
BOSS! BOSS! BOSS!
BOSS! BOSS! BOSS!
BOSS!BOSS!BOSS!
1:22:11 Did you know that 1 in 20 blot has Projectile Dysfunction? Don't let that ruin your late night combat encounters. Contact your nearest blot doctor to make sure your projectiles always hit their mark.
Ngl Wurd is the best boi, BOSS BOSS BOSS!
Pumpkins are bigger!
@@WildfireMagni and you can store other fruits inside the pumpkin
**GASP** You're right!
WhooHoo Boy!! New EP :3
some references i got r: The Ship *Golden Cay Flashbacks* and (probably) FFXIV ref? :0

Not fritz immediately singing the wellerman sea shanty lmaoo
Well well well… time to get shivering me Timbers hardy… good thing Cami-Cat isn’t driving… might hit a rock.
this game is amazing!
Great episode! But can we please have another release of all your awesome humanoid tokens?
another great episode
I remember Storyg from dingodoodles' video collab with jocat
Awww yeah, let's go! Pirates!
STORIG! SQUEE! I've seen the Dingo Doodles video😅
So are the monsters just the Blotling from Epic Mickey?
BOSS, BOSS, BOSS
Oh he does the severity roll like monty
What an unexpected turn of events.
It just occurred to me... Entire party completely forgot to ask what demans Paula wanted. They could talk to lords instead of her so easily- they will either way
Yes images!
storig, like the half orc bard Storig, love him
Ahaa, the name of this episode went past my head first
I hope by the end of the quest we have the whole novel
Yoooook it’s storig the orc violinists!!!🎉
The wait between episodes is killing me
Nice FFXIV reference btw 😍
Yessssss
Was it just me or did anyone else hear red say florida while JoeCat was describing Noba Sky
I have my own druid that gets motion sickness on vehicles.
HOLT SHIT WAIT STORIG
Is this The same storig you’ve mentioned before or just a reference?
I literally just like 5 minutes ago found out you were the DND lizard animated guy explaining things. I thought I found you from the man the myth the Cum King Frostprime_. Turns out I found you like 4 years ago.
Red how are u playing an exact copy of my personality
Storig reminds me of soos from Gravity Falls
FFXIV quest name
I need an explanation on why my guy lost 10k subs!
Ummmm what? How? Jocat is cool!
@@Darcifeus37 probably for supporting trans rights, in which if that's the case the it's just trash taking itself out.
normal improvised weapon damage is about 1d4+Str, iirc
First great video guys keep it up👍🏾
Also tolkien doesn't "overdescribe" anything. People saying that just means they have the attention span of goldfish
Is this 4 or 5e?
5e with house rules (i think skill challenges are 4e tho? but its mainly 5e)
please never stop making content :3
