I'm so, so incredible happy 🥺 I love this franchise so much, and I was really desapointed with the last movie. I really hope that it does well, and that The franchise move foward.
If it wasn't a Ghostbusters movie the 2016 movie might have had better luck. Paul Feig had no control over his actors and he just let them run wild so there was no Ghostbusters feel to the film. It was like a bunch of sketches as opposed to a cohesive story. The improv went on way too long. Melissa McCarthy just yells all her lines in lieu of saying anything funny. Their characters made no sense, again, due to each scene being mostly improv. They were just given a character trait each. Melissa yells. Kristen acts like an alien. Leslie also yells but is slightly more of a human being. Kate is an escaped mental patient who seems completely unhinged from reality. Ghostbusters was set in a world very much like ours. 2016 is in a world where nobody acts like a human being. They all act like they're in a movie so every line of dialogue is heightened and jokey. If you forget it's supposed to be a Ghostbusters movie I'm sure it's somewhat funny. Unfortunately it doesn't respect the original which is why fans of the originals do not like it and neve will.
I was at the New York Comic Con surprise screening and I agree with Grace, If seen the original you will love Afterlife. I laughed and cried during the whole thing. I definitely watching again in November .
I’m officially hyped after Grace’ review. I saw both Ghostbusters in the cinema when they came out in the 80’s . I was 10 for the first one. I saw the trailer for this a couple months ago and thought meh not for me, glad I can now look forward to it ( burgers and fries after!)
Quick question this has been brought up a lot about Finn being in the movie. Did you get any Stranger Things vibes? It’s kind of a shame that anything he is in is now automatically being automatically type cast being a Stranger Things movie. He could do the movie for Hamlet and it would be Hamlet Stranger Things.
I remember McKenna from the Haunting of Hill House, that series was great and she was great in it (and all the cast). I'm so glad she landed a good job and I wish the same to everyone in the series.

Was initially cautiously optimistic, now I'm actually looking forward to this. To be fair, I didn't hate the 2016 version. Even though the only actress that I'm really a fan of is Kate McKinnon, it was cute and watchable. My wife and I actually enjoyed it...but then, we re-watched the original from 1984 and were reminded as to its epic awesomeness. Everything about it still holds up today. So yeah, the 2016 version doesn't even belong in the same universe. Looking forward to Afterlife and will attempt to avoid spoilers! :)
Grace, you mentioned in a previous video about films done in Canada? Well, this one was filmed at locations in and around Calgary in Alberta Canada. Let's be clear: Sony, Paul Feig, and Amy Pascal are the reasons why Ghostbusters 2016 was such a terrible movie. I don't put any blame or responsibility on Aykroyd or Reitman.

But I do want to know if the plot line is a continuation of that exact universe or if it’s going the Halloween (2018) route. A sequel to just the first film alone. I mean who doesn’t love Lady Liberty as a Kaiju?! It’s not a perfect film but it’s a proper Ghostbusters film.
I'm a bit concerned it's going to be like The Force Awakens and Jurassic World for me. The first time I saw both I was into it but then the next time I watched them I couldn't figure out why I liked them. I realized I only liked them because of the nostalgia goggles and once those were taken off I realized they just repeated every single thing I liked about the originals and it wasn't those movies I liked, i just remembered how much i liked the originals.
Perhaps because both of those movies relied heavily on the nostalgia and formulas of their predecessors. But once the nostalgia high wears off, the retreaded formulas were laid bare, and you're left with a sense of disapppointment that they didn't really try to do much new with the story. This is also my concern with The Matrix Resurrections.
@@glennwelsh9784 that's exactly it. The Force Awakens did everything A New Hope did in the exact same way. That's my concern with The Matrix Resurrections too. I grew up with all of these movies and they are near and dear to my heart but I don't get why we can't just leave them alone and move onto something new.
@@bryanreynolds8721 You don't need to worry on Afterlife being a rehash of the original. It steps off from both Force Awakens and Jurassic World did. Film acts like it's own thing while remain connected/respectful to the original-two films. It does new things while being in the same universe. But you'll see.
I really hope there’s a memorable theme song like the first two had. I just don’t think people understand how iconic the Ray Parker and Bobby Brown songs are with those first two movies. I just hope there’s one for this.
Just to see how well a fans of Ghostbusters are here considering this is same universe as original two movies. What is the single most important question that must be answered in this movie?🤔
I've been rewatching all the previous films: the 1984 film, it's 1989 sequel, that film from 2016 (to be honest I find the special features to that film a little worth watching), and the documentaries: 2016's GhostHeads a documentary about Ghostbusters fans, the 2019 documentary about the making of the original ghostbusters called Cleanin up the town, and the movies that made us episode.
I like ghostbusters 2 but I've been waiting for a good sequel since seeing it, so I'm glad we finally might have one. Hopefully Sony could hit Will Smith up and rekindle the magic of MIB.
I'm gonna have very low expectations when watching it. Lately every time they say it's respectful to the source material they just stuff the movie with Easter Eggs and fail to capture the spirit and what made the original movies/games/comics grear. Let's hope it's actually good.
I saw this at NYCC and I'll probably have to see it again to see what dialogue I missed. McKenna Grace was amazing as usual. Paul Rudd seems to be aging backwards.
*I hope they did Winston Zeddemore justice, as his lines were famously cut, removed from posters, as well as him being removed from some of the marketing ~ Quite poignantly, Bill Murray's condition for returning was that Ernie Hudson’s would be beefed up to put him on equal footing with the others, which was also his reason for appearing in the Ghostbusters: Video Game ~*
It's almost as if showing respect for the originals and not fighting existing fans can work 🤔 who'd of thought. Thanks Grace glad to hear you enjoyed it and thanks for no spoilers

I mean who doesn’t love Lady Liberty as a Kaiju?! It’s not a perfect film but it’s a proper Ghostbusters film.
I heard it was
I'm a bit concerned it's going to be like The Force Awakens and Jurassic World for me.
Quantum Mania comes out exactly on my 45th Jennifer Day on February 17th.
Do you think it would be worth it for them to reshoot the beginning ?
+EvilAbed
She's a little bias on the opening. But no, it doesn't seem worth it to reshoot the beginning.
I now have faith in the film since it has your approval!
I really hope there’s a memorable theme song like the first two had. I just don’t think people understand how iconic the Ray Parker and Bobby Brown songs are with those first two movies.
I just hope there’s one for this.
GB 2016 problems weren't the actors or anything other than a BAD idea/story and it sounds like afterlife proves it
Wait this movie is so long before it is out 😩?? Glad we got to hear your thoughts so early though!
My 11 yr old is excited to see this
I so want this movie to be good!
Just to see how well a fans of Ghostbusters are here considering this is same universe as original two movies.
What is the single most important question that must be answered in this movie?🤔
I had a feeling the reviews would be good! Avoiding spoilers is something I know I won't avoid when online.
I usually don’t like grace’s reviews, but I agree with her on this one ‼️👍
I'm a big ghostbusters fan! Thanks for the early review, Grace!
I watched the original Ghostbusters movie on a CRT TV in a Grade 4 classroom.
I love her. It was clear she was either very, very excited about this movie. Or very, very stoned.
@@Music-vr7sz *No he wasn't? ~*
@@Music-vr7sz *He was always the fourth Ghostbuster -- this is why I loathe leftists and liberals as they disregard evidence or factual occurrences ~*
Sounds delightful! Is the scale and visuals worth seeing on the big screen?
It's almost as if showing respect for the originals and not fighting existing fans can work 🤔 who'd of thought.
Thanks Grace glad to hear you enjoyed it and thanks for no spoilers
I wonder if they involved the 2016 movie? They get the 4 ladies from another universe and the 3rd movie will be them and the Afterlife team going after Zuul.
Thanks to this video, I now know the food I want to eat while I watch this movie! Hahaha
They did everything right, man,
by the sound of it
