My husband and I, we’re going to start our journey on the sea soon this year, 2024. We both and sometimes with are children and grandchildren. Hopefully its gonna be a nice a sweet experience like yours! so many things to learn and be grateful for! Thank you for sharing your amazing experience as a couple on a boat! Greeting from Middleburg, Fl. 💕😘💕
Thanks John and Kimberly for the video. I hope to follow in your footsteps in about 4-5 years. Already started looking at boats. I like the 44 footer you bought. I'll be following you guys and taking notes. Please share the good as well as the bad. I'm interested in the accounting for your adventure. How long you stay in one spot, marinas vs, anchorages, the whole nine yards. Oh, and one last very important thing... WDE!
Amazing video! This should be a required viewing of anyone looking to take the plunge! I'm still in the dreaming phase myself. I look forward to more of your videos!
Greetings from Tucson, Arizona. Just discovered your channel and subscribed - looking for updates on your journey. GOOD FOR YOU for taking the 'plunge'! I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach - rowed from Town Point to Elizabeth City each Spring for three years - and been seriously looking for a live-aboard for 2 years. Going back and forth between a trawler and a Nauticat
My wife and I have been talking for months about doing the same thing!!!! Please keep us updated and I would love to maybe chat about the details and logistics of boat life if you ever have time! Cheers!
Great video. I remember the rocks at Myrtle Beach. So narrow. Hard to believe it's part of the ICW. And Elliot's Cut is a handful if you catch it wrong with a sailboat that'll only do 5 knots.
beautiful perspective, I love the story, congrats on your journey. I hope there is more to come I'm interested in seeing the Dyers wonderful story on the water. Thank you
John Great video.... What was your time line?.....thinking of doing the trip in our 372 silverton aft cabin.....but gas.....HMMMMM ... but well done, congrats... Vince
Thanks Brian! Yea we love the wynns first in the RV days and now with the Cat, so cool! They definitely helped give us some confidence that we could get out there.
Just found your channel. Like to know the details of your boat. She looks to be very comfortable and seaworthy. Your taking a dream and turning it into a reality is something very few get to do. Congratulations! We've had 7 boats over the years. They were pretty much high performance ski boats and ened off with an off shore power cruiser( Cigarette type ) Had friends with boats similar to yours all here in Southern California. Did some boating in Florida and in the keys. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures.
Hey man! Also just bought a boat, a 33ft sailing catamaran. Also just purchased the oneweel pint. I figured it'd be great for grocery runs when I hit distant marinas instead of walking for hours. You got a new sub from me!
Fabulous, detailed account of your time on the water. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this video. My we ask about some of the costs associated with boating like this. What does it cost, on average, to stay at a marina for an evening? And, what does it cost to stay an extended period of time (a month or more either on a slip or on a mooring)? And, finally, what does it cost, on average, to store a boat over the winter if you were to return to a winter region like New England or the Great Lakes? Thanks! Safe Journeys!
My first visit to your channel this early am. Yep, a new subscriber here. It's my dream to follow in this adventure. Great drone footage. I was on board the John F. Kennedy CV-67 during the Gulf War and Norfolk was my home port. Unbelievable rocket shot with your engagement ship in the foreground! Really nice video guys.
Hello! My husband and I are about to embark on our trip from Florida back to Boston come April 1st. We are getting our float plan together but if you have some suggestions that would be great. My main question is we need to work during our journey. I saw that you did too. What kind of internet service did you get? We need a secure VPN type network. Your help would be appreciated. Thank you and safe journeys!!
Hey its good to hear from you again glad you're getting out there! And having lots of fun!. Great video as always I like your boat its very nice my parents also bought a boat but it's nothing that fancy looking good stuff:)😎😎
@@JohnDDyer they just have nomad boat they call it there yacht lol to me it looks like a big sail boat with a new design underneath it lol nothing fancy though 😆
This is amazong John, My wife and I would like to to this. Can you make a breakdown of you costs? Like how much did you spend on gas and Such? take care!
I can't speak for John, but if you're not too far off shore, you can use your cellular data, but that may or may not meet your needs or be cost effective--depends on your carrier plan. There's also a satellite Internet provide called Starlink that provides service for RVs and boats. Their maritime service (for ocean crossings, for example) is quite expensive. Most marinas now offer wi-fi.
Love the video! I know these exact feelings. You do a great job putting it in words! We are another live aboard family. Currently in the Keys. Hit us up if yall find yourselves here.
Thanks guys! We actually saw y’all at plantation yacht harbor in Islamorada last year but y’all pulled away before we could swing by. We are up in port Canaveral now 😃
How long did the trip take and did you run into any rough waters. I’m looking to do the trip one day and wanted to know if it was a smooth trip. Thank you
Looks like fun! I hadn't seen anything from you in a while... Do you still have your Lazy Daze? I just got one two weeks ago. It's my first motorhome. It needs some paint and TLC, but I've got nothing but time, since I'm retired. I've enjoyed watching all of your videos (the ones I've seen anyway). Be safe out there! Rick Doherty Joshua Tree, Ca
Thanks Rick! Congrats on the RV!!! We do still have the Lazy Daze but we haven’t used her much since we got the boat... the boat definitely took up a lot more time than the RV did lol but they are both a blast for sure. Where is your first trip going to be?? Looks like you are starting off in a great spot.
Thanks! It was incredible, we are so glad we stepped outside our comfort zone to try it! In total we moved the boat on 18 days but it took about 6 months because we spend some time in Yorktown, Beaufort NC and Brunswick GA
@@JohnDDyer Made a great choice to leap out your comfort zone. Thanks for telling me and 6 months is long but I know it was worth it because with all the fun experiences your having, it even probably made the trip not as long, hahah.
@@JohnDDyer I really like it! I'm almost 6' and 240lbs... and when I'm riding it, there's nothing "mini" about it. My friend got me interested in them about 1 1/2 year ago... she got some other brand and I got mine... Then it was like a chain reaction. how's the build quality on these boats?
