Back in 1977 Eddie Lawson, already a dirt track star, decided to go road racing. He showed up at a club race at Willow Springs with his TZ 250 and was told he had to participate in the "rookie" orientation session before he could actually enter and race. He didn't complain, he duct taped a big square on the back of his leathers like all the other newbies, myself included, and off we went. The session lasted about 20 minutes. He lapped me and my GS 750 at least four times. Always gave me plenty of room. What a gentleman and what a champion.

Just like motocross when they went to 4strokes is wasn't the same. Now the riders just need to sit and hold on the bike does the rest. 2strokes were raw and needed much more rider input which lead to more mistakes in corners = closer racing.

Unfortunately Moto GP is going the way of Formula 1 - way too much tech and clinical. When Vale described what it was like working for Honda, I can imagine all the teams are like it now. Yes, it’s the mission to win but where is the spectacle and thrill for the fans. At least when the 990s were around we had twins, triples, fours and a V5 - were will it end?😢

    ROSSI IS THE BEST 😎
