Honestly? It's just nice to see Smoke *not* brainwashed for once and to see he and Reptile get some respect in general.
Raiden, smoke, reptile, Johnny, Kenshi have some of the best. Even Baraka. I love that Baraka and Reptile are good guys.
I like how most of the cast are actually pretty good friends with each other outside of the main story.
Bi Han, Shang Tsung, General Shao, Havik, and Reiko can suck it.

They did Baraka and Reptile some amazing justice in this game, for real.
After the story I was straight up giddy 'n' gleeful about the fact that they're no longer jobbers.

I love how smoke is the younger brother of everyone basically, having such curiosity, while reptile is the cool kid that nobody knows was a cool kid
and Liu Kang is the single dad managing the kids (Reiko and gang are the troublemakers of the flock 🤣)
I love the more peaceful vibes. Really feels like Liu Kang did well in creating the timeline

Characters MK 10 and 11 intros were mostly mocking each others. Idk man MK1 feels different. It feels like their introduction is made as a continuation plot in some kind of way from the story mode. It’s heartfelt and gives a pure feeling.
I actually think it’s better that it’s like a continuation of story in the dialogue

I feel like this Johnny acted like an arrogant d-bag just to fit in Hollywood, but underneath all of that, he's....still kind of a manchild, but a manchild with a heart of gold. Plus I loved how he took learning everything in stride and was super inviting to Syzoth/Ashrah, and Baraka to stay in Earthrealm if ever
With the exception of manbuns, most male rewrites were pretty good.
Love their interactions are vibin with each other most of the time before they beat the other to a bloody pulp 😂
Isn’t it strange? Wholesome dialogue before brutally slaughtering each other? There are a lot of fighting games out there but I can’t think of any other game that approaches it like this.

Mileena apologizing to Kenshi is probably my favorite interaction. It's so wholesome, and I love this kind version of Mileena
I truly love Kuai being scorpion now especially with him and smoke the “Not related by blood by still refers each other as brother” trope is one of my favourites and it really does bring the “when there’s is smoke there’s is fire” hope to see more of there brotherhood in MK2

Instead of Fire and Ice, they should make Smoke and Fire.
It's also interesting because if you remember Deadly Alliance/Deception, It was Originally Bi-Han and Smoke together at the ends of their paths. Or at the very least, it seemed like it. (It's been a while, so I could be off, but in those games Noob and Smoke were a Combo Character). Neat seeing it kind of reversed.
Makes me wonder how Hanso is going to play a role in all this.
Mileena’s interaction with Kenshi about unintentionally blinding him was really sad to say the least
in the mk1 game almost every character is likeable like people whom u hate in previous game are much more likeable here and actually are more human as in they show their emotions like Mileena here has a heart compared to the two other versions of her

Still learning how to write his name instead of Reptile. After all, I never knew reptile as a character til this game (Only play Mortal Kombat 2011-Mortal Kombat 1).
The most wholesome guys, there's an intro where Syzoth complains to Jhonny for making him watch the Predator movie, because it was too scary for him

The most wholesome thing is universally we as the audience *only* call him Syzoth now. Johnny hit the nail on the head with Smoke about the wholesome sidekick too. I bet he's secretly more powerful than even Quai-Liang (who's *easily* the most powerful Scorpion to date.)
I'm fine with calling Tomas "Smoke." I'm fine with calling Quai-Liang "Scorpion." I'm not sure if I'm okay with calling Syzoth anything but his actual name anymore. It feels wrong.

I love that Reptile and Baraka are not evil in this timeline. My boy smoke getting much needed love as well no longer being forced to become either a cyborg or a revenant.
Reptile and Baraka being friends and not Shao Khan minions is one of the best things of this game.
Kitana saying to Cage that seeing a film is a transcendent experience send me to tears... all this dialogues only make me crave more story development, this should be a video game series with new episodes or chapters each week... just like a regular tv series...
I wouldn't be surprised if that or something similar ever ends up being a thing down the road .
I don't know, but for the previous timelines they made comics to fill the gaps and expand the story, how Sub-Zero Kuai-Liang got the scar, what the revenants made after they were freed from Quan-Chi sorceries.

It feels weird saying this about a series most well known for it's over the top gore and gruesome violence, but I'm loving how the characters in this timeline are getting along. Like, the fact that chronic jobbers Reptile, Baraka and Mileena are being given respect in the story, and even having a good stint as good guys is so cool to me.
It is weird. You know there's a good chance that these fighters might literally rip each to pieces after their brief dialogues, but the wholesomeness and relationships between the characters feel so genuine and strong that you forget about the violence for a moment.
I'd love to just see all of the good guys just kinda hanging out and chatting with each other as friends. Maybe they go see one of Johnny's films together. 😆

I’ll never forget Johnny and Mileena’s intro from Mk10 where Mileena said something about Johnny then he says “sleeping with Baraka is repulsive” and Mileena goes “WHO TOLD YOU THAT”
That was the icing on the cake, and in MK11 she rejected Baraka to mate

I really enjoy the good guys in this game. Everyone is so nice in their own way. I really like how wholesome Smoke and Reptile are for example, or imagining the Earthrealmers and Outworlders all watching movies together like some intros would suggest.
Say what you want about MK1's intros, but I've warmed up to these myself here. They certainly given some good ones for everyone to go around at least.
Its not 3 but much more unique and alot of them.
I do like how they’re consistent all around and even reference the Tower endings

I like that many of the characters are compassionate and understanding. It shows that Liu Kang did make a world where each mortal can seek their own peace. Also ironic that they will end up doing fatalities on each other in the next 2 minutes lmao
After all the bone-breaking, head-smashing, limb-ripping, spine-shattering, maiming... (you get it), now they all just feel like family. 😊
I love how Mileena, Baracka and Reptile actually got a personality that isn't revolved around being a senseless punching bag for everyone. Especially Mileena. I always wondered what she would be like as a good guy.
Baraka saying “I must repay you” is such a heartfelt moment. Tragic character.
I hope the dialogue about Mileena having potential evil in her heart is only a reference to her past iterations or thr Tarkat in her, and not implication of who she might become in the future. I'm loving this version of Mileena being a good woman.
Sadly I think her turn to a villain is inevitable. Notice the interval of time shortening between her serum uses. She can't rely on them forever it seems. And consistent use of the serum might come with side effects. Or eventually just turn her biology permanently.
I tie it to another dialogue:
"Why do YOU require absolution?"
"Even a GOOD sovereign must occasionally do EVIL."
Kitana's spared from wrongdoing by not being Empress. Mileena may have no choice, and might also be saddled with the aftershock of some of Sindel's decisions.
The is what FRIENDSHIP should be, very wholesome, very well done, kudos to the team and MELOO ^_^

I love the how their expressions change and move their heads slightly when it makes sense

The only problem I have with all these characters being friendly with each other, is that it doesn't feel right to end a fight with a fatality.

@@solitudegaming That they have. They did what I never thought possible in Mortal Kombat, which is give players a reason to *want* to use Friendships besides just the joke value. That so many people think "I don't feel right doing fatalities because of how the characters get along" is a testament to how strong NRS can write their stories when they put the work in.

I adore how all the most beloved characters are confirmed as good guys now, Mileena, Baraka and Reptile all part of th homies. And Johnys Character arc is just perfection, after it was butchered in the last one
