This was very interesting and insightful. To me the religious aspect and the mythology the girls create in and for the wilderness is the most interesting part of the show. I also love greek mythology so this analysis was really cool, I hadn't considered it yet! Awesome video
I’ve personally been trying to not apply a Greek narrative to the story, but after the second season and especially after seeing this analysis, I can’t not see it. The characters really are modern extensions of the Greek myths but with an amazingly dark and complex twist. I’m so obsessed😂
Very cool analysis! I would personally put Lottie as Hecate and Nat as Artemis with Travis as Orion (not a God but a mortal who was her hunting companion) and I could see Misty as Athena who was the Godess of wisdom, to include things like medicine, and war, which i think makes sense for Misty's duality. But I'm not totally sure on that one. I also see a lot of similarities between Lottie and Cassandra (again, not a Goddess but an important figure in Greek mythology) Also I think your description of Demeter's wrath also aligns with the painting Adam did of Shauna's face that is focused on a lot in S2Ep1 when Jeff and Shauna are in his studio
Loved this! Very well thought out and researched, particularly the Dead Cabin Guy being an allusion to Hades! If I might add my own input, I recently read a really interesting point in that much like Persephone, Jackie and Shauna's baby both die/get tied to the Underworld after consuming food (hot chocolate and breast milk respectively). The same almost happens to Lottie as well in the mall dream sequence, but Laura Lee stops her. I think you're right about Melissa, as well. In 2x01, you can see a couple of other Yellowjackets apart from the main characters, who look like Melissa and Mari.
Thank you for watching! I noticed that as well, about eating the food in their unconscious states, or the food of the Underworld. I wrote another essay but haven't made a video yet, but I noticed Nat is the person who Shauna sees while trying to breast feed. I've equated Nat to Artemis, who is also a protector of children and Goddess of breastfeeding, in particular. So there is some sort of connection/oversight/coaxing between them on those scenes. The writers are so detailed in finding these connections, I love it.
Great video. Also I find it interesting that all of the main characters are only children in the story. None of them seemed to have brothers or sisters.
"Same as You.." With all the storylines, myths, characters, the interpretations and overall themes how could people not connect or find something relative to them?! Not just the fandom but overall even if they first start watching the show. We have been really into the Jung overtones and its helping me grow for sure all due to this show and different perspectives. Across the board YJ relates to all kinds of people through comedy, hope or when it hard and deep. Especially when somebody has actually been through similar trauma in their lives. Also to help us all in our own journeys navagating authentic self. I really love seeing Fey and Mandy, (my wife - bragging! :P) talk about how so much of the show relates to what energy is in the world and our lives. We use refrences of the show to help mediate our feelings or relationship too lol- mostly Mandy but it helps me see perspectives better. Fey Fire and her are really diving deep, each scene as detectives but also understading of what we do not see, history, references and books from the writing elements. If you think they go long on streams... you should see them talk for hours together, discovering, learning, boucing ideas, thoughts and "A-musing" they call it.
The writers guild strike along with the actors guild now has me a bit nervous now though for sure 😬 the issues must be much worse than I originally expected. I know that I spend 95% on RUclips long form videos such as your awesome stuff. Wonder if the change in people's taste in entertainment platform is not part of this? Probably so
Another insightful creation, thank you Fey Fire! I *think* you pronounced "Pythia" they way I would and you might like to hear how Canada's Drag Race queen Pythia prefers to have it pronounced: ruclips.net/video/q2jydJ_O428/видео.html :) Eye-con, oracle, deity and I'm sure she would bee (buzz!) into your vid, too. PS We miss you on Mondays (no pressure, just love).
Dang it, the video is not available in my country? 😂 Do they pronounce it more like "pie-thia?" I guess that would make more sense considering the name comes from a giant python 😅 I miss you guys on Monday! (Can't wait for summer break to be over 😅)
OMG > I am a huge fan and lover of Rupauls Drag Race! since Season 2!!! I get so much inspiration from the queens and artistic experience as well as expression. It's on record and have watched all! I even refer to a few Mama Ru quotes on our livestreams several times.
@@FeyFire ah! a python makes sense! They pronounce it "pih-thee-ah" instead of "pith-ee-ah". Maybe surfshark will sponsor you so you can watch this video? :D

Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have much more coming about the Greek mythology themes in YJ. 🌾

Once you see it, you can't unsee it!
This story has so much trickster vibes that can be applied throughout and to many arcytypes.
Getting super Artemis vibes off of Natalie.
🙌 You'll love what I'm cooking up 🏹
i 100% agree with you!

god damn it, now that's what I call in-depth analysis. it feels like a literary comparativistics essay. thank you so much, that was very insightful

You do such a great job with these video essays. Thank you so much. We really appreciate them
I appreciate you! Thanks for watching! 🌾
Great video. Also I find it interesting that all of the main characters are only children in the story. None of them seemed to have brothers or sisters.
What's happening in the story kind of connects to Exodus 22 in the bible and the "giving the first born" to a god. Anyway, it's tinfoil time :-)
Travis or whatever his name was
@@meet-me-at-blue-diner You are right. Thank you. I forgot about him. Actually, we need to know what happened to him during the time he was missing.
Your vidoes are literally the only thing keeping me going while we wait for season 3! Such a good video !!!
OMG thank you so much! 💫

Moon of my life
Well this is an adorable exchange!! 🥰
I love this show but have zero greek mythology knowledge. So your theories explain so much to me I thought was non sensical.
Thank you so much! I have much more to come soon!
The writers definitely went down a mythology rabbit hole in their tween years after reading Percy Jackson lol
