I'm still mad about Pim getting all the blame for the hotel thing in the Brazil episode. They expected him to pretty much plan the ENTIRE trip and didn't actually make sure they had accommodations before getting on the plane. What person would be so casual and unmindful when expecting a vacation?
Ok one thing that make me thinks is that i am from brazil you kinda can get a place to sleep not in rio if is near carnival but you can probally get in some other place and waste 2 hour travelling by train or bus
Yeah Pim is definitely the doormat type of character. Nothing gets him down so people walk all over him and he just kind of goes on with a "its fine, im still happy" type thing.
Not to defend cause you're totally valid there. But also. As someone who can barely check my phone or think for more than a minute before life picks back up (I'm a medical professional) it's easy to do as Allen did. Send a messenger link or message and never remember it until it's too late

Its not necessarily that he always sees the bright side of things, but that he mentally filters out all of the negative and pretends it doesnt exist. His family is incredibly dysfunctional and it seems in Pims mind that just isnt the case even downplaying it by saying "family tensions can be a bit high at times" He has a vivid imagination that seems to take over reality for him a lot of the time. That's why he needs Charlie to bring him back down to earth.
I think why people don't choose Pim as their favorite character is because Pim is genuinely the set up to a majority of the Shows gags jokes and punchlines.
You know if it was possible I would love to see someone make Pim interact with a character like Spongebob. I mean think about it these two bundles of joy interacting with each other would be absolutely wholesome

Pim is the glue that holds everything together. look at everyone else and tell me they wouldn’t be in a different line of work if not for this little pink guy. he’s the embodiment of a Smiling Friend. i love him so much!
In a way he's kinda like what Captain America was to the Avengers (well, before things got more complicated). Tony is brilliant but also has a huge ego that often causes him problems, Thor is a bit detached for being an alien god guy, Hulk has the whole angry beast issue, Steve was just the pure boy scout figure keeping everyone together and focused on heroism and punching the bad guy.
For me personally, Charlie is my favourite, but I absolutely adore Pim. He's the sweetest ever. I love how he interacts with everyone. He's really just a ball of sunshine in a gloomy, unhinged world. I am fully convinced everybody needs a Pim in their life. I know my depression and crippling anxiety would be cured in 0.5 seconds of he speaks a single word, he's just THAT sweet. He's very, very close to making the Top 1 spot for me. Like, Top 1.5. Pim is also the main reason I was able to convince my best friend to watch Smiling Friends with me, she loves him so much. So I see him as a winner lmao
I love how they're really committed to making Pim's eyes look like scribbles, and even in the later more detailed seasons, they've only given him more detailed scribbles
I agree that I think Pim might reach to his breaking point in Season 3, where he just snaps out. After dealing with a dysfunctional family, trying to make others happy, being a single middle age guy, and trying to stay a positive attitude for so long. I wouldn't blame Pim for feeling that way. Another detail I wanna mention, I think Pim loves kids is because of his younger siblings that are shown in the pilot episode.
people like pim because he's so optimistic. people dont like pim because he's a bit detached from reality, which is his whole personality. people like charlie because he is super down to earth and relatable to the way the viewer reacts to things in the show. people dont like charlie because he can be dismissive to other characters feelings sometimes but he is funny and doesnt overdo it so he is still the likable realistic dude that everyone likes even through his flaws

I've always loved Pim the most. I'm very proud of my optimistic outlook on everything so he speaks to me on a very personal level, more so than any of the other characters. One thing people often gloss over is that optimistic attitudes aren't inherently naive, but are often gained after years of personal hardship and sometimes even suffering on some level. Pim, as one of the older Smiling Friends with a very chaotic-seeming upbringing given how his family acts in the Desmond episode, strikes me as one of these people. He's a great boy and I am excited to see what future episodes have in store for him
Pim is so awesome, I love him. That Desmond sun explanation destroyed him but I'm glad he got better. Also he has some of the most quotable stuff with Charlie and Alan.

If I may add one more awesome thing to Pim's character it's that during the quest with Charlie and Mip, Pim's humbleness and good nature literally saved him from being blamed for attempted murder of the princess who Mip was stalking. When Mip was dying he told Pim that he could take credit for the "gift" he was going to give the princess, but because Pim was so nice and wanted to honor Mip, his humility refused him taking any credit and as we find out the "gift" was a bomb. it's honestly a cool detail to show how humility is amazing and shows how Pim being humble and kind is a trait that is saving his himself and his friends

In the Brazil episode he said "damn" and besides that he's used a couple replacement swears, most notably "fudge" in the halloween episode. He also joked to Glep about looking at "sexy ladies" in the Brazil episode. Pretty pure overall tho. No f-bombs or any real swears so far, just minor stuff.
Smiling friends is probably the only show that i have a hard time to pick my favourite character. They are so original and funny in their own ways that its too hard to pick a single best character.
I think its a case of Pim being a lot of people's third or second most favorite, like nobody hates him as a character or anything they just don't have him as a favorite he's likable and an important part of the show but he doesn't have that extra factor that makes him your top.
