    • @TheLightningZap
      @TheLightningZap 5 лет назад +1

      Well if they are broken up they don't really have a platform anymore. If you break apart Facebook it's no longer a platform where everyone can connect. That's the problem with treating them like monopolies. Perhaps some of them such as Google could be broken up.

      How do you suggest then that Google should generate revenue from their search engine without showing you advertisements? The data that they collect just helps them show you things that they think you will buy. If they didn't collect the data, then it'll be like shooting in the dark and showing random ads to random people.
      The location data collected by Google can be turned off if you want to. Although you would probably benefit from it staying on as one could program their phones to be in different modes in different places like homes, offices, schools.
      If you don't want to cough up your data well then just cough up some money and pay the damn companies. Beggars can't be choosers.

    I am really shocked at John Stossel here. In the Overlords, when he asked, "What can we do?" he was excited about new people running for elections. But here, when Google is clearly acting as a government agency, and he hates big government, and as a monopoly (by the way, he hardly scratches the surface of the horrors of what Google does to users- which shocks me too - they don't even allow Conservatives to ADVERTISE!!! They call it hate content! And ask a conservative if they've ever had conservative results pop up as a result of "Confirmation Bias." Please.) - despite all this, John Stossel says, "Waa! I don't wanna... change my search engine? My email account? To avoid being deleted altogether?" ARE YOU KIDDING? What's happened to Stossel???

      It's one part him getting older and less renegade, but also advocating for the lazy masses who would never consider such things. That's the problem - there is no magic bullet solution at this point.

    I use Bing for a search engine, not that it makes a difference. I try not to use facebook & twitter but then again, I'm not on those sites 24/7 like most. I don't need them, I'm not addicted to them, and if the government regulated them or pulled the plug, I wouldn't suffer OR lose sleep over it!
