We Broke our 1000cc Mini Trophy Truck! (But We're Not Sure How)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 27 апр 2021
- We started the day by backing the trophy kart out of it's parking space under my car port, thinking that we'd be installing a 5 point harness and some new rear shocks to help with jumping, but the trophy kart had other plans! It appeared that the transmission was broken- when you put it in gear and let out on the clutch, the engine would stall, and the mini trophy truck wouldn't even try to move. Turns out we had a broken piece in the transmission!
Thanks for Watching!

It'll be back up and running before you know it!
Yeah most definitely.
This is a little random but I just crossed the bridge in Washington and isaac's boat that was tied between the two trees was half sunk

I know I'm kinda off topic but does anybody know a good site to watch newly released series online ?
@Santana Dash Flixportal xD
@Leonard Cody Thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it!
@Santana Dash you are welcome xD
Lol! Y'all finish the conversation about buying and acquiring all the tools you may need and it cuts to Ike taking a bolt off with pliers and an adjustable wrench!
I love that everyone has to prove they have steel toes by beating on their foot. I'm guilty of it too.
You do that till you hear a "pop". And now your big toe has 1/2 the articulation it used to and it constantly jams out of place painfully.
I found out why you never wear steel toes on job sites luckily I didn’t lose my toes it was a small load of truss But it Pinched the top of my toes
I do that with my bulletproof cup.
Kicking a steel pole also works
When ya have the driveshaft loose, I suggest makin a quick wrap of masking tape around that u joint, to make sure the caps dont fall off.
‘cause ya need all those bearings!
I've posted this before but you guys should have a day where you roll out all of your old projects and just rip through them trying to get each one to run, and at least make a loop around in front of the shop.
Replace the clutch before putting the gearbox in place.
Yep! Well, if it needs it. At least put some new gear oil in it.
Long time subscriber just wanting to thank you guys for keeping the hobby alive !!! Awesome Content always keep it up.
Glad to see you are adding safety equipment to some of your faster toys. This has been long over due. Some of your stuff is getting scary fast
8:27 What do you mean "right tools"?! An adjustable hammer is a perfect tool for every job!
The transmission: “oh lawd I’m bout to bust”
Bwaaahh
Thanks for keeping My spirits up in these crazy times!
You ended the video that aired on April 28th by telling us about the Pate Swap Meet starting April 22nd! Smooth. 🤣
I would love to see the two of you fix that trophy cart and take it to another place with more space to go FULL SEND!!!
Love seeing my initials on the front of this thing. Thanks guys 😂
It’s that time of the week 💯
From the little bit you showed, the chunk that broke off looked like the pad of a shift fork. Makes me wonder if your linkage is producing too much leverage and damaging it when you shift.
Lmao! "Not double clutchin like you should!"
Sometimes when I'm working I wonder "what are John and Issac doing right now"
I love the look on your face when nothing happened.
Gents, can You maybe try to use 2 brake cables to make gearbox linkage? One will be for pulling original leaver in one direction second one for another.
you need to get some muffin tins from a garage sale, or the dollar store to keep all of those small parts separated when you pull stuff like this apart. you can glue some small magnets to the bottoms with rtv so they stay put.
Damn 😭
It was Ike’s brother. He snuck in while you were sleeping and drove her into the ground. 😂🤪🤣

I thought the same thibg
The small Work Shed keeps tools closer to the work. Equals less walking back and forth time between the tools & the work.
Those transmissions are SUPER easy to rebuild, new parts are still available and no special tools are required. I was a BMW motorcycle tech for years.
You need to have some type of damper in the driveline to absorb to torque from wide open to letting off the gas. The reverse torque is braking the gearbox due to the extra weight of the kart.
John and Ike just wanted to say at the wheel on Monday was awesome! Keep the podcasts going! Joined the pit crew and even started a go kart project of my own all with the help of you 2 and Go Power Sports...Thanks to you Both!
Bringing a vehicle into the shop without pressure washing off all the garbage first. Oh that’s backyard mechanics right there. Love it 😍
Had a 88 turbo ranger back in the day. I was heading to work one morning went for 3rf gear she locked up tight smashed my knees into the steel dash left me stuck 8n the middle of the road. Great start to the week.
I had a couple Merkurs with that Turbo 2.3
High five from Sydney, Australia 🖐 love the channel guys.
Can't wait to see the NEW SHOP!👍
Cool tutorial on the Trans Diagnostics and solution to fix it. 😎👍👍👍👍
Case to case joint clean with some cleaner like brake cleaner (example) the use Honda bond. best bonding for cases you will ever use. No Leaks guys. All your bolts in those cases need to be torqued even if it is not called for in the book. You can get torque specs on the size and thread of bolts. Invest in a nice torque wrench 3/8 or 1/2 inch you will find that you will be using it all the time. Remember the Honda Bond. Great stuff!
Oh a 4-wheeled 670 build with a proper transmission would be so epic
This entire series I have been thinking the shifter was going to cause problems. Finally did it haha, lasted longer than I expected.
Yes that long shifter was bouncing the entire time just destroying the gearbox. I just now suggested paddle shifters.
@@carbide1968 they don't take suggestions at all haha.
Really they could stick with a lever, just move it,and shorten it.
Theirs is probably one of the dumbest shifter set ups I have ever saw. I get that they were going for a trophy style shifter, but them shifters are gated, cable operated, not just a heavy tube with all the leverage.
@@carbide1968 I wouldn't touch paddle shifters with a bargepoll. Awkward linkages required which are always mechanically inefficient given all the routing, and trying to mash the shifter around constantly with just your fingers is tiresome. Never a great system unless it's electronically actuated.
@@datraktorman69 Given their vids have a week or two lead time, noobs always think they don't listened when in reality they've already progressed well past that point. Not only that, but 99% of the suggestions are from mechanically inept couch potatoes who don't have a clue, and are thumbed up be equally stupid people.
I reckon the shifter would have been fine on a better gearbox. Given it's done 80K hard wheelie miles, the shifter return spring and everything else is probably getting sloppy. Fuss over nothing.
I love y’all’s content I find it so fun to watch😂 keep up the great work guys
“Two dudes in a dark, damp shed...”. 😬🤣
I can't remember if y'all rubber mounted the engine, but if not you should consider it. It will definitely help cut back on some of those off road vibrations. Might need to re-do the drive shaft though.
"you gotta start by removering" lol🤣🤣
John needs to change his name to Newton! So when you do the intro "I'm Isaac! I'm Newton!" Would be hilarious
They’re not that bright 😁
18:41 "Who let the dogs out" 🤣
I swear I get just as excited if not more for rebuild videos than riding videos. Good stuff guys.
Ya'll need to figure out how to make a cable linkage for the shifter instead of the long shifter bouncing around.
A LOT of valuable lessons were learned on this day. But on the bright side it happened at home and not 5 miles from everything on a trail somewhere
Ike. Seems to me while watching, that you are passing on knowledge to a capable journeyman. Love watching you guys interact and adventure. Actively looking for a c70.
;) Keep up the good work. Both of y'all.

Fred flintstone and Barnie Rubble snuck the cart out and took it to the hard rock cafe. LoL 😂
Lol
Ha I was just there a week ago
Hope you're going to do the clutch while you're in there. It's apart, you'll thank yourself in the future.
Your right on your floppy shifter setup was bouncing around on change up and beating the hell out of the tranny slamming the sliders and the dogs is what crushed that
The Shift Lever you have it is over Extending the Shift Forks you need shift stops to keep from breaking the Transmission shift forks AKA Dogs! Also i think as you Ride the Kart the shifter flops Back and forth trying to change Gears it self and can cause issues you need some kind of a shock Absorber to stabilize it!
Y'all always break something 😂, that's what makes this channel fun
John and Ike the Old Man taking a break from yard work enjoying the video. Always looking forward to seeing what you are going to do next. 🛵😎💝💝
You videos are so much fun n what makes them fun in my opinion is your honesty telling it like it is
Bill in Fort Wayne Indiana
In one of our drag busa's the trans was pretty rough inside and 2 of the 4 dogs got cut out. Bike runs and shifts great. Roll on.
hehehe beeping...i thought you were gonna say, its because you guys might be a bit frustrated learning about that transmission hahaha
I would love to see that transmission on a 212 very interested in that i’ve been tooling on a brand new 212 myself waiting on some parts from go Powersports mentioned your name at check out 👌😅
I would love to see what kind of top speed you could get out of a predator 212 with a 5spd. Also it's worth mentioning. I sont know if it's new but at harbor frieght the other day I noticed a new size predator I've never seen before. I think it was like a 305 or something. Be interesting to experiment with. See how similar it is to a 212 or 420. Maybe some of the parts could swap over to push some more displacement out of a 212. I'd also put a new clutch in while your there.
I think I will build a few go karts. After watching these guys for a long time I feel inspired.
I was thinking you're shift linkage not allowing the gears to engage all the way!!! Then you said it!! Good call
Like you need to put a 212 in that Chevette you have. That would be a crazy fun project to watch.
This happens when you wield everything 😂 love the video!
Great job. love to have seen the inside of the "gear box"... keep the faith. DVD:)
Congrats on the shop build.
I love watching this channel. I would make sure that the gray silicone is oil resistant like black usually is. 👍👍
The old cinder block shop NEEDS TO STAY PART OF THE C&C complex! (I think Ike's with me, here! It's where the "board" stays.... ...just make it sound, and maybe transition it to studio, and more "cozy" purposes... a place for visitors in future, etc....
You want a tunnel for the prop shaft to move freely within, and have lots of range of movement.
Love your content man!
You used the Chevette rear axle, adapt the Chevette transmission to the engine 🤷😂
Hey guys. Love your show. I couldn't find the comment selection on your ct90 feed.
You should clean the carb again. Pay close attention to the idle circuit.,.that's your main issue.. ie won't run w out choke on.runs better w wide open throttle...
I'm wondering if the "slipping" driveshaft joint didn't actually start the problem.. by creating a bind. And under large loads it could cause some serious trouble to moving parts. Even if its not, I seriously recommend fixing that issue while its down. Because I know it dont take too much force in the wrong spot and wrong direction (Im implying a force shoving against the output shaft) for it to cause a lot of minor misalignments inside an otherwise tight fitting gearbox. (Speaking from my own experience building projects) NICE work fellas! Good stuff thanks for the vid!
Fix that floppy shifter so your changes will be more precise.
That thing is junk
Spring loaded trigger
I'm always surprised how many people work on things that are muddy .. I always try to give my stuff a quick pressure wash before I bring into shop . So much easier to work on something that's half way clean .
22:24 tall talking over eachother had me dead
Another awesome video guys
Yous are good yous even look up how to take things apart .usually people only look how to put it back together 👍👍
You guys were talking about mounting that gearbox to a predator or a Briggs and Stratton.
I currently have a Suzuki 1972 TS-125 with the lower end of the engine on it and it’s powered by a predator 212.
Had to modify the frame a little but it is awesome to ride. If you want to see it let me know!
Here early. Love your vids
Can't wait to see the new shop! But the old one started it all. Don't abandoned it.
Wrong. John's mom's garage started the whole thing!
I can see it happening putting briggs & Stratton With the five speed on the Wagon project
I dont know if you guys will see this comment but just a suggestion rather than using the big heavy long shifter like you have currently it may be easier to adapt to a push pull cable it will also make it much easier to mount it pretty much anywhere you want it instead of being limited to hard links and pivot pionts
Those dogs are notorious for breaking off. I had a trans torn down for new seals and bearings and there was 1 gear that only had 1 dog left on it....still rode and shifted normally.
Love the CONTENT!
Need to have Charles come back and join you guys . I mean if he,s gonna take the blame , might as well be there . Lol
Love to see a Riding Lawnmower Revival, with more SAFETY!
You guys never give up. Nice
I picked up a adjustable wrench and it had vice grips handles so when the adjustible wrench loosens the grip tightens it so it don't .it's a must have tool vicegrip adjustables
Hey love your vids and it looks so fun to build a go kart
Love these type of videos long videos and videos and turn the old shop into a paint shop

Not just a good idea? 😲
just proves life goes on in spite of covid 19. Doesn't matter who broke it. Let's fix it. and life goes on. yeah baby!!!
i saw you guys at the Pate swap meet, i forgot to ask how the trophy cart was going.... now I know.
Could be the heavy shift linkage/stick pulling the shifter arm while you’re driving around, trying to put it into a different gear and grinding. That would explain the dogs being banged up.
That extra transmission would be so sick hooked up to a 670cc, I would love to see something like that
These guys I could hang with all day everyday!
I'd also like to hang out with Derek at Vice Grip Garage.
Stay safe guys much love
Sorry I didn't get to make it to Dallas last week. Will make it one of these days. I'm about 80 miles east of Dallas
Everyone knows those BMW chevette drive shafts can be a little rough to look at lol it'll be fine!
How to attach the gearbox to a 212cc, Interesting to see that..thanx boys👍
Ike- who did it idk it could've been me or John or someone who wasn't there Charles lmao I'm dead
It's rare but a few times my BMW R1200RT catches a "neutral" between 2nd and 3rd. I will be very careful to let the RPMs drop before moving it into gear.
Use your CNC machine and make your own jack stands that would be cool you could even put the logo on your jackstands
I hope they left the key in the Bobcat so you can build a righteous jump and put some banking on the GP circuit.
I have a question. I already deleted my governor, and put a lightweight balanced flywheel with an 8 degree timing advance on my ct100u with a 212 predator. Will I blow anything up if I install a performance cam with the stock rod?
